Phoenix was the modern dominating deck prior to Hogaak, and before that was Hollow One.
WOTC finally made the smart decision and killed the problem at the root

I've been playing Modern longer than you have and actually know what the meta looked like before Hogaak. Phoenix was only 10% of the meta, and was usually tied with Tron for the most played deck. Humans and UW Control were also never that far behind it.
Hollow One started back in late 2017 and dropped off soon after, and Phoenix didn't take off until 2019.
How bout you start thinking before you speak instead?
