I don't understand the complete hatred and aversion towards the Phantom, what's so bad about it? If anything I think it makes the challenge of travelling through the night more exhilarating and fun, no reward without risk.

Attached: Phantom.gif (296x271, 860K)

1. forces you to get a bed
2. forces you to sleep
3. deals a lot of damage while also being almost untouchable without a bow
4. doesn't drop anything good or useful that can be used before you get an elytra
5. generally annoying and useless, the worst type of mob combo

Because they're fucking annoying and there's literally no practical use for them besides forcing you to sleep.

Minus 1 inventory slot: the mob

There is no reason for them to exist besides wasting time on using beds.

>punishes you extra hard for not skipping the challenge
mind numbingly shitty game design

>reward
?????

>YOU WANT MIRRION HOURS OF EXPRORATION?
>TOO BAD!

do you ever get the feeling that minecraft devs have no goddamn clue what they are doing

haha

>exhilarating
Do you ever hear yourself?

t. literally can't keep a bed in his inventory

They're annoying as shit, hit hard, and force you to carry a bed.
Not to mention they're a pain in the ass to deal with without a bow, especially if there's like three of them in which case good luck.
Also
>reward
Ha.

I don't speak.

How many sleeps do you need to skip to spawn them?
I mostly play modded these days so have not seen them yet.

Cliff racer in minecraft form
they don't give anything worthwhile so they are just a pest you have to deal with or mitigate

As you say, no reward without risk, the inverse is true. they are just risk without reward.

It's three days.
They spawn anywhere from one to four at a time, I think.

>making video game
>have melee and ranged options
>make a bunch of enemies you can't hit in melee

I hate this shit so much. At least MC isn't as bad about it as Skyrim.

If you go without sleep for a really long time how many spawn?

Spawns in armies, takes a long time to kill, and doesn't reward you with anything useful

i dont get how can people explore for 3 whole days without filling their invetories with garbage that you are forced to go back to your home and store everything, since you are there you should sleep too

fpbp

The same amount just more often.

>1. forces you to get a bed
>2. forces you to sleep
Why is this a bad thing?

Honestly I have no problem with the option to sleep but these fucks removed the 'optional' part of beds. At the very least having a way to skip the night without changing your spawn would be nice or better yet something that prevents them from spawning like what light does to normal mobs.

It's a slog to kill them all because they spend so much time in the air,and out of range, but you can't ignore them because they tend to come in groups of 3 or 4 and end up attacking you every few seconds.

> forces you to get a bed

so what? this is hardly an issue as you should get a bed as soon as possible anyways

> forces you to sleep
again I dont see why this is a big deal

>deals a lot of damage while also being almost untouchable without a bow

what a joke. they are super easy to deal with if you aren't a brainlet.

>doesn't drop anything good or useful that can be used before you get an elytra

slow falling is incredibly useful for the dragon fight.

>generally annoying and useless, the worst type of mob combo

no the worse mob combo is drowned with trident.

Explain why it's a good thing nigger

Attached: 1461111852552.png (282x289, 7K)

This, if you're playing Minecraft and you're actually out fucking around for 3 days and dont go to your base to deal with the likely loads of junk your inventory has filled up with then that's 100 percent on you

Unless you're doing some kind of insane build in which case you shouldn't expect the game's survival mode to pander to your playstyle anyway.

That used to be optional.
You went to sleep when you felt like it.
Now you -have- to sleep every couple of days to keep the ghost rats with wings off your back.

>boo hoo I have to sleep once every few days

whats the big deal?

and why does no one bring up the real problem with 1.13?

Attached: file.png (300x224, 87K)

>slow falling is incredibly useful for the dragon fight.
Did they change the dragon while I wasn't looking? How would it be of any help while fighting the Ender Dragon?

Attached: 1547351254454.gif (436x342, 2.96M)

I never said it was good.
So it’s bad because a mob spawns at night if you don’t sleep? Just like every other mob at night? Okay

So you dont take fall damage climbing up and jumping off the pillars in the end to get to the crystals, some of which are protected with iron bars, so you HAVE to go up to deal with them

>B-B-BUT WHAT ABOUT TEH DROWNED?
they're just as shitty as phantoms, stfu with your whataboutism

I like mobs that add to the game, not limit my decision making.

>Takes up an inventory slot
>Doesn't even stack so you have to keep picking it back up
>Changes your spawn so if you die faraway you'll never get your stuff back since you keep breaking and resetting said bed
>can't enjoy a nicely lit world at night for too long anymore

you could also use a water bucket
or ender pearls
or feather falling
there have been many ways to deal with this problem before, and there are no benefits the potions have over what the other options can provide

>im gonna go on this big long epic voyage of monster killing and village plundering and shit its gonna be great
>better leave my bed behind so ill respawn at home in case I die!
>i want to fully imerse myself into this shit, we're going full sleepless warrior motherfucker
>oh great the flying cunts that literally take minutes to kill every single time have shown up, guess ill stop having fun now
If you can't see why these things fucking suck you're either a zoomer or retarded

Attached: 1560402824878.jpg (314x353, 14K)

>get knocked back by the wings
>fly super high
>killed by fall damage

it's good to have a few just in case. you don't have to worry about getting pot shot by the dragon when it does an unexpected move

>So you dont take fall damage climbing up and jumping off the pillars in the end to get to the crystals, some of which are protected with iron bars, so you HAVE to go up to deal with them

you don't need to climb any of them. you can snipe all of them including the ones with bars. It's really easy too.

my point is that phantoms are far easier to deal with. all you have to do is get a bed and they no longer are a problem. Drowned are infinitely more annoying, especially in island bases or near rivers. they will snipe you with tridents which do a shit ton of damage and it's almost impossible to prevent them from spawning early on as you need shit loads of light source blocks to do so.

>>Takes up an inventory slot
you really don't need to bother with having a bed in your inventory while traveling early game. The idea of early game is to prioritize getting to the end as quickly as possible so you can get shulkers and an elytra. once you have shulkers and ender chests you never need to worry about storage ever again.

I wish there was a sleeping bag or something that didn't change your spawn point when you sleep

Attached: 1546549475001.jpg (283x283, 22K)

there absolutely is benefit.

water bucketing can sometimes be unreliable.
feather falling doesn't negate damage completely
ender pearls require player reaction as well and are only as reliable as the player is.

again realize that no one pillars up the towers. the main issue is getting hit by the dragon and knocked up super high. With a slow falling potion even if you get hit you will always be safe. They are far more reliable than any other system.

This is an unironically based suggestion

>you should be punished extra hard for taking a risk and exploring during night

ideally there should be a risk/reward system. there is already no reason not to sleep, it's a self imposed challange. this shitty mob just further incentivizes taking the easy route and skipping the night

ask yourself: what does this add to the game?

Attached: brainlet.jpg (645x729, 48K)

>this shitty mob just further incentivizes taking the easy route and skipping the night

people just do that anyway?

>what does this add to the game?

It actually makes early game more difficult. you are basically on a timer and need to get a bed as soon as possible.

they're loud and annoying

>what does this add to the game?
It makes the night more dangerous

What if I don't want to set my spawn somewhere else?

put it in the suggestions thing on mojang. It's stupidly simple enough to be upvoted,.

>It actually makes early game more difficult. you are basically on a timer and need to get a bed as soon as possible.
What a great idea for a sandbox game aimed at literal children

Attached: 1542329911553.png (5000x5000, 438K)

The game is plenty tough for kids already, they can handle one more mob

maybe play on peaceful then you pussy faggot

>It actually makes early game more difficult. you are basically on a timer and need to get a bed as soon as possible.

Sleeping is difficult?

getting a bed can be depending on where you spawn

This is an amazing suggestion

>people just do that anyway?
yeah, so it does nothing to people who sleep the night away risk-free, and fucks over those who don't, once again further tipping the scale in favor of taking the easy way out by skipping night time

this mob should literally work the other way around. make it a chance to spawn every time you sleep, so there is some actual decision making to wether you use a bed or not

Let's add more tedious bullshit then. How about a mob that only spawns when the player spawns when it gets hungry. It can phase through walls and set blocks on fire

So these mobs they add make the game more difficult because getting your first bed could take a while?

So this whole mob's purpose is "lets make the player find/make 3 wool and a log, that's will challenge them!"?

How would you feel if instead of spawning when not sleeping, they just spawned like a normal mob during the night?

The difference is, it will spawn regardless of light level, so even you have your entire build all lit up and explore / build at night, you have to sleep either way to not be fucked by swarms of them. Not to mention that his annoyance level far outpasses even the most annoying mobs due to 3 and 4. It offers no challenge as challenge can be avoided relatively easily, but the method of avoidance is cumbersome and breaks the gameplay flow as it forces the player to do something it may not want to do, aka either bring beds with him and reset the spawn points every time (not to mention taking a slot in the Inventory) or makes the player go to base every few days for no discernible reason. It's just straight up not fun.

if it's aimed at children, then surely a vidya veteran such as yourself wouldn't mind some extra challenge

It literally punishes you for playing the game, and was never balanced for multiplayer worlds since like a billion of the fuckers will spawn if you have afkers/grinders.

Just make a roof or go into a cave.
I made a new world where I could sleep cause no sheep around and not once did I have to see a Phantom. Just fucking mine and craft, my dude.

>play on server with friends
>there's always atleast one guy out of his house making skipping night near impossible
>everyone forgets to refresh phantom spawn rates as a result
>walk somewhere with a few people and night rolls in and have to deal with 2-5 of these fuckers
>If you're dealing with shit ton of mobs in a dangerous situation these guys fuck you over if you draw your attention away from them
They're not hard, especially with a good bow. But they're legit the most annoying mob. You don't discover them naturally, they're inevitable. You'll always have to deal with them like a chore that takes time away from whatever you were doing. Most people explore caves at night anyway, but this fucking mob completely discourages exploring at night. Not with a challenge but by punishing you for not clicking on your bed frequently.

Monster Spawns are fucked anyway, they could literally be halfed and it would be more decent, the amount of monster spawns is insane, especially those dirty drownends

>itt people that haven't beaten the End

One of the biggest issues in the game is that skeletons and shit become no threat the minute you hit a decent chunk of diamond. Even creepers just end up an annoyance that wrecks your stuff but poses no actual threat. These put in a scaling threat that makes nights increasingly dangerous if you suck at aiming.

Also you can remove them entirely with a datapack. You know, if you a bitch.

>But they're legit the most annoying mob

again that title belongs to trident drowned

How about Mojang stops adding retarded "do X action every few days" mechanics to the game? They bring 0 value whatsoever, add unnecessary routine to the game without spicing anything and not reactive enough for player to feel actually challenged by them, yet impactful enough for player to feel frustrated for not doing them. Minecraft is not a dayz clone.

>Skeletons
Yeah no, fuck those asinine little shits and their breakdancing and aimbot bullshit

Flying mobs in general are irritating.

Mojang is the problem, slow as shit, updates only useless stuff instead of fixing core that are there for years.
It is not that the Windows Edition is better, it's literally just adding more dlc texture packs.

>every day
It's only like once every three days, more so if you're doing other shit, you don't have to do it in any routine whatsoever.
What are you doing that for three+ minecraft days you're spending every night outside and you don't notice phantoms showing up?

And if you're somehow losing track of time, make a fucking clock, and if you still end up seeing them, just fucking kill them.

3 days in minecraft is an hour though, it's very easy to lose an hour of time in MC if you are getting into a project.

Having to do something every hour sounds like a routine to me, by the way.

>forced to do all this shit in a sandbox game just to get around an inconvenient mob that never needed to exist in the first place
what does this add to the game again?

Yeah it only took notch 3 years after ripping off infiniminer to give us colored blocks and enemies

You can repair elytras using the shit anvil system

Why the fuck are you playing survival if "inconvenient mob" is your argument?

>deals a lot of damage while also being almost untouchable without a bow
nigger i hate phantoms too but what the fuck are you talking about?

>adding more tedium is good because it makes it harder

Attached: 1561693793679.png (475x258, 96K)

and it shows that the core game is a decade old and cannot really be fixed anymore without redoing it completely, that mobile port version from Windows is much better.

It’s literally already been a mod for years

I used ''inconvenient'' as in annoying, even putting their in-game purpose aside, they are just not fun to fight

still haven't gotten an answer for how they're a good addition to the game

>keep forgetting that these niggers exist because I usually spend the nights boating or spelunking and rarely sleep
>sun starts going down as I'm exploring 1000 miles away from home
>hear flapping and think "oh yeah mojang added cliff racers to minecraft because they're fucking retarded"
>am forced to go back home, find a village, or craft a bed if I don't want to keep getting my asshole munched by flying faggots
They're not challenging; they're just a fucking pain in the dick.

Attached: 1445977610260.png (413x451, 163K)

>"it forces you to go to bed!"
then go to bed
>"but I want to craft and explore!"
play peaceful
>"but I want to play survival with mobs"
play an older version or go to sleep
why is Yea Forums filled with such babies?

While I'm all for mods, the addition of a new mob shouldn't make me want to go out and install a mod to fix a bad design choice.

or mojangsoft could've just kept their gay mob to themselves to avoid this shit altogether

>I like being railroaded in a sandbox game
>just disable all the mobs bro
why not admit that it's a shitty addition

>i want one thing changed
>tch, then either change 50 things along with it or stop crying you big baby!
What kind of functioning adult willingly defends Mojang?

Attached: 1561567980699.jpg (720x1280, 123K)

I haven't played since like 5 years ago.

If I build houses in a village, will the villagers move in to them? Do they have kids on their own and can I make it a thriving place?

Attached: 1312417091967.jpg (945x709, 74K)

>lul who cares about limiting your decisions
>just play easy mode and remove all the fun then you baby
>if u don't like shit updates then just stop playing the game broseph
Do you just like people stepping all over you? Need me to give you some good old cbt? People giving feedback on things they don't enjoy isn't childish you fucking brainlet.

Attached: 1511379322877.jpg (320x320, 17K)

If you keep things well lit the monsters won't spawn.
But the phantoms will spawn no matter what your light level is.
You're forced to take shelter if you don't want to deal with them.

And they're far more annoying than any other non-boss mob, even Ghasts who usually only show up one at a time, don't actively pursue you, and can be ignored once you're far enough away.

Look, the point is that it limits your decision making.
Before, you could choose to either go to sleep and do shit in the morning or stay out at night and do some exploring, for as long as you wanted to.
Now you're being persuaded into just skipping the night so you don't have to deal with an army of ghost mantas swooping your ass.

On servers you are fucked, cannot actually go to sleep, you just lay in bed. So go out in the open world and they will always be there, day and night. (Alternatively buy server rank to get godmode, good goyim)

They are an annoying pain in the ass, not a challenge, and not an interesting mob.

They make doing anything at night, be that exploring, or even building pointless. Because they fly (lol XD) and because you constantly need a bed on you. If you are playing multiplayer you are just fucked.

The update these shitters came out it was clear how poorly thought out and annoying they were. I really enjoyed having hours of waiting added to building a tower inside the walled and fully lit spawn town because of these things.

They are the epitome of shitty
"Whoa DUDE"
*bong hit*
"I have this COOL idea!"
Game design.

If you put beds in the houses, yes.
More beds = more villagers.

But I LIKE traveling at night. Now nightime is ruined for me.

In regards to cliff racers and bees, how's this for a design rule
>no adding new mobs unless they add something useful and unique for the player
And no, yet another shitty food doesn't count. Honey should have been a potion ingredient and came with new potions.

Slowfall potions are a cool addition, those r helpful when searching for an elytra

>Challenging and interesting
>is the same as
>A huge annoyance and general waste of time

Based, you should just die upon starting a new world on survival, and then the game will just brick your CPU.

It's just a inconvenience right?

so many noobs in this thread lmao
