On top of this, Samus herself is also massively overrated, with her prestige as a female gaming icon based mostly on circumstance and not her own character.

I don't know what happened to the Metroid fanbase. I stopped paying attention to it for several years and now everyone hates it. But Metroid fans have always been passionate; the good games are god tier, but I figured most of the fanbase by this point would realize that Nintendo doesn't care too much about Metroid and that stellar Metroid titles only come out when the planets align just the right way.

I'm pretty sure turning Samus into a sex doll splintered the fanbse from actual fans who liked samus and also played the games to pseudo fans who only liked samus because she got their dicks hard.
