In the first two games once you use the elves they die. The big elves offer permanent effects but need to be fed until they mature, small ones don't need to be fed but their effects are temporary. Using them decreases your mission rating, permanent ones permanently decrease your mission rating.

Why do elves and the ranking system fight each other? I haven't touched my elves due to wanting a better rank. Dont even know what rank does.

There's no patreon, they switched engines and went through a bunch of redesigning stages and bosses as well as sprites for NPCs in the hunter base. They also decided to add X1-3 armors + Ultimate armors to go along with Phoenix and Hydra armor and made them all customizable.

X8 was actually mechanically solid, if they made a game like that but with decent level design it'd be amazing.
In 2 and 3 beating a level with A rank will give you an EX Skill, in the other games it doesn't matter.

Because elves make the game drastically easier. You can't play on easy mode and expect the same rewards as someone who does it the hard way.

Because elves are easy mode and the game punishes you for using easy mode. It's only acceptable to use elves once you've done everything else in Z2 to unlock Ultimate Form.

You can refight them for better medals, and acing them all got you Model a, I believe.

As much of a fan as I am of Mega Man, I'm not going to buy half assed rom collections just to 'show my support'. The only thing you're showing support for is capcom making more half assed rom collections.
I bought MM11 because it was a new entry, to support new entries. I'd buy an X9 as well for the same reason. But I'm not buying lazy ports
