People seem to forget we're talking about video games and that it's not the consumers' responsibility to keep developers afloat.

What Epic is doing is just corrupting (an already corrupt) market. And they're doing it because they just can't compete otherwise. They don't even want to compete. Devs take their money because an opportuinity for income should never be passed up, but I don't see any reason consumers should buy games there (since games are basically already paid for and should therefore be much cheaper). The 12% thing is disingenuous at best because at least 2.5% is passed on to the consumer through CC transaction fees, if I understand correctly. Plus, you can't get keys from other sources.

The war over installers is no different from console faggotry. Xbox has their paid exclusives from other developers as does Nintendo and PlayStation. It's thanks to Epic PC gets to see that drama all while being told by Tim Swindley they're the good guys doing a good thing by directly limiting what platforms games previously slated to be released as nonexclusives are now an exclusive.

The point is the Bamco puts games on PC for the purposes of widening their availability, and a PC storefront that buys exclusives is ideologically opposite to what they are trying to achieve. You might go "but putting it on EGS without an exclusive deal still technically increases its availability" but if you support them then you are encouraging the practice of buying exclusives. That said if EGS gets any kind of footprint they'll probably be forced into it anyways because MUH PROFITS, much like how the entire anime industry cucked itself into working with what were originally illegal streaming sites.

The epic games store is gonna end up one of those business failure case studies. From their point of view it really is puzzling what's the big deal about installing another launcher, it's still a PC game, the issue is a psychological and company/brand image issue that they cant overcome.

Probably because epic is a multi billion dollar company that is more then capable of hiring the talent and resources needed to build a good online store that can compete and even surpass steam. I have had my passwords and emails compromised because some stupid companies are too lax on their encryption practices. The more companies I trust with my details by creating an account with them, the more likely I'm going to have my emails and passwords compromised.

The only solution for this is to create a unique email address and password for every service I use that requires me to create an account. This is far too tedious, no one should have to create so many accounts. Companies need to stop forcing consumers to do this just because they're greedy and don't want a third party distributor to take a small percentage of profits, it's anti-consumer, and only serves to inconvenience people.

False. GOG offers overall competition to Steam in the PC gaming market. There has never been anybody remotely capable of competing with Steam's monopoly over DRM market. EGS is the only legit competition to Steam there has ever been.
