The problem isn't just the lore though. TES has mostly been about world building and simulation. But each game edges more towards an arpg. The problem is that they've dumped the world, but not really replaced it with anything else. There's no meat in skyrim. Nothing to learn. Nothing worth investing time in. It has no core game mechanics to make up what the keep cutting out.

I feel like Skyrim was actually still okay and par with Oblivion even though it removed alot of gimmicks and even fucked up the story alot. It had alot of lore content and also brought alot of new comers to ES (not counting the ''I love the Skyrim series'' kind of people). Idk maybe I just ride the cock of nostalgia but I enjoyed Skyrim alot. Agree on Daggerfall and Morrowind being the best except for the dungeoneering in Daggerfall. Hope TESVI brings some skills/weapon types back so I can roleplay as a Dragoon again.

Some argue that it was better than 3, but I found it to be slightly weaker. Combat was good, fishing was bad. Plot was great, but no where near as good as 3. Dragon system was a huge downgrade from 3 as well, but Fou-Lu was fucking amazing as a foil to Ryu.
