Serious question is skyrim a good game?

looking back i'm starting to think this game is actually pretty shitty. good graphics of course, but gameplay and quest just seem shitty.

Yes, it is a good game. It's not a perfect game, but it is a good game, well worth both money and time.

Attached: todd howard hug.png (315x286, 21K)

Yes, yes, memes and all. It's still a good game.

Like every Bethesda game it's okay to begin with but mods definitely help.

And I agree with you my fellow user

Yeah its good

>looking back i'm starting to think this game is actually pretty shitty
Uh, yes. People thought this when it came out.

I thought it was pretty fun at first but now i find Oblivion, morrowind, and new vegas to be much more interesting and fun to play for some reason

yes and no.
yes because it has great potential and some great content at least.
no because cut content, no skills, no classes, no birthsigns, small towns, cut civil war centont, cut daedra quest content, shallow, stupid, inconsistent and all that shit.

It's okay, it's just shallow as fuck.
Oh, and Dawnguard is utterly irrecoverably retarded.

Good game sure but not as good as ''everyone'' seems to claim .

The only great thing about this game is the fact that you can mod it , making it into a pretty good game .

It's kind of weird. I myself have installed and uninstalled the game 3 times before I finished it, because the quality is very rocky.

>removes more and more content and more and more skills and RPG hallmarks with every TES release

Attached: todd.jpg (272x185, 6K)

i could never get into it enough to even beat it
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Comfy game

Yes. The main reason why is because Bethesda is the only company that makes games like this. It has no competition so it will always be at the top.

Post cancelled this is actually a valid point
it's like playing fable, just something you can sit back and play without much care or thought.
i like it.

Have you tried playing a Stealth Archer?
I honetly can't pick up a bow in the game, have to force myself to go Two-Hander because of the Stealth Archer vacuum

My only beef is enemy variety. Draugr, Dragons and Bandits.

Physical combat gameplay is okay compared to his predecessors, but it's still bad in absolute.

On almost every other aspect, it falls apart.

go home technical

it took you 8 fucking years to figure out Skyrim sucks? jesus christ user get a grip

that's one of my issues with the game. no actual class creation so you just have to roll with what you do best (stealth archer)
and i end i'm being forced into the games funnel of play style of being a stealth healer.

I wouldn't say it "sucks" but it defiantly isn't as fun to play as its predecessors. much like how i would rather play fallout 3 or new vegas before i would try fallout 4 again.

I personally can't get enough of killing bandits, no sarcasm

the block tree in skyrim is pretty fun actually

>good graphics of course

is Yea Forums always this contrarian. god Yea Forums sucks

you cannot convince me that the game doesn't look good. it's certainly not perfect but come on now.

positive posts get ignored

i'm asking a legitimate question, not trying to be some kind of elitist prick

non point, I fucking you comfytards and funtards
>NOOOO THIS GAME IS GOOD BECAUSE IT'S COMFY
>NOOOO THIS GAME IS GOOD BECAUSE IT'S FUN
THEY ARE FUCKING SYNONYMS
YOU MAY AS WELL SAY
>NOOOO THIS GAME IS GOOD BECAUSE IT'S GOOD
WHY IS IT COMFY
WHY DO YOU THINK IT'S FUNNY

FUCKING BACK UP YOUR POINTS
*screams*

it's just a great game, contrariantard

if i say that it's not a great game but neither is it a bad game am i the ultimate contrarian?

I like my echo chamber here

it's decent. Solid 7/10

i can't parse your logic

It's a great source for satiating my sexy big titty lizard women fetish. At this point I've seen my stacked argonian girl character in every sex act imaginable. Loving consensual, wild animal against a wall, gangrene, knotted by dogs, jerking off horses, killed and her corpse fucked. Thanks Todd, can't wait for TES VI.

*gangbanged

Fuck you, spell checker.

Its an okay game if you mod it to no end. Even better with sex mods

finally some good fucking points

I was worried for a second there yet would not at all be surprised.

This. Skyrim has about the same quality as all nu-Bethesda games since Oblivion. Good in some areas, shit in others. This is why there are genuine arguments about what's better between the two of them. Skyrim will probably be remembered a lot more fondly after VI is released, though, since it seems Bethesda is trying to casualize their games even more if FO4 and 76 are anything to go by.

draugr dungeons get old pretty fast but otherwise the quest are pretty varied.

Wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle.
There is a lot to do but there isn't depth to it, you can play the game through and still stumble on areas you've never been to before when you come back to it a decade later.
But chances are you've forgotten about it after you've found the chest with the loot anyway.

Its far from a bad game but after you've finished playing in the sandbox you're satisfied for a bit until you realise you never build your sandcastle.

As always mods help a ton and can add new areas and quests. If you want new quests then I suggest Vigilant and Outbreak.
If you're a masochist I suggest Rigmor of Bruma and its sequel Rigmor of Cyrodiil
There are also tons of mods that improve on gameplay, such as Wildcat or TKDodge or Visible Injuries.
Hell, if you hated the lack of fun bandits and bounties then OBIS has you covered.

ouch.
i know this is going to be true one day
i highly doubt the game will even be properly playable for months

Don't expect that TES6 will be so flexible to modify as Skyrim

The first couple hours playing Skyrim I was fighting a dragon on the road, only to have some random npc encounter force open dialogue with me telling me to hold on to some item totally ignoring the fact that I was now standing there totally powerless having my ass chewed on listening to this prick. I desperately closed the conversation just in time for the dragon to land the killing blow. I'm glad I only pirated this piece of shit because I uninstalled the game right there and never played it again.

>TES6

has any information been released about TES6?

memes and all, it really isn't

a lot of people who say it outright sucks have 2000 hours of playtime in the game though.

Insanely overrated

yes it's shitty now leave and play more fortnite like a good lad

Attached: 1479693902379.jpg (680x510, 56K)

>gameplay and quest just seem shitty.
Yes. Normies love it because of marketing, most love it because of mods; we all play because the undustry is retarded and never tried making something like it, but good.

Of course it is bad, it has some good aspects and some bad aspects, but overall the game is a boring fantasy walk simulator with no interesting quests or things to do and superficial elements with no depth whatsoever. Most people like it, but then again most people have shit taste.

Sure. I have a couple of hundred hours of "playtime". A lot of that is just getting mods to play nice, though. That being said, it's a pretty solid modding platform, if nothing else.

it's good in a vaccum. it's trash when you compare it to other, better, rpgs.

Attached: 1564137856362.gif (750x750, 726K)

Yes this is home for contrarians and hipsters.
They are vocal but a minority.

It's fun to mod it.

Why would anyone be specific? My guess is you would just say nuh uh to anything offered up.

I like the exploration. My guess is your response will be some variation of "IMO the exploration sucks"

It's entertaining for the first week.

That's an understatement

what an abomination of a screenshot

i didn't get it until i was like 15

>unironicly thinking that bethesda games are overall "good" games

Attached: 1486884089474.jpg (457x381, 55K)

based

No, it showed Bethesda just how little they have to do in order to make bank by selling to mouthbreathing retards who finally have a ''roleplaying'' game to play that their not affraid of getting confused by.
Elder Scrolls will never be anything more than a open world action game that people who are to comfortable with mediocrity praise as the best there is.

It's one of those games I pick up and put down too many times and go absolutely nowhere
I dont hate it and I like the concept but it's just nothing special and I personally dont feel a sense of structure in the leveling and mechanics
I'd rather go finish other games in the backlog anyway

Depends on you
I liked it, I was annoyed by every missed opportunity, of which there were many, but I still enjoyed it

Your shit taste is a you problem.

You kind of ease into your own class through perks

Bad game, excellent modding base. I put maybe 20 hours into the actual vanilla content and about 100 more into fucking around with mods and roleplaying.

its absolute trash. i tried playing it again on ps4 and returned it after beating the cave tutorial. utter trash that looks very ugly. its a fucking ps1 game. i played it back on the 360 and loved it back then

yeah this game is pretty bad
so bad that people still make daily threads about it on /v, of all places where it's all about the flavor of the month, 8 years after it was released
very bad game

it's ok, a bit repetitve and the story is kind of retarded but it's not the worst thing out there

i never even finished the main story. i did do all the assassin and thieves guild quest line though.

Average at best, gets really boring when you realize how the cycle works.
>get quest
>do quest
>see thing
>explore thing
>get encumbered
>fast travel back to city

It's not natural, someone commented a few months ago, how Bethesda uses a ADHD education guide to make their games, and somehow it fucking works for them, Skyrim is a goddam theme park, the world is static.

Attached: 1545311026444.jpg (1280x936, 102K)

Original or Special Edition???

>playing Elder Scrolls games in consoles

They have had static worlds since Morrowind. They have actually come along way in that dept.

>playing games on anything but consoles
mods are not the game. they are a waste of time for people who do nothing but play around in games like children instead of beating them and passing on to the next one.

Playing TES on the platform it was designed for is remarkable in what way?

>mods are not the game
>they are games
just say that your toaster can't handle mods and you are too low iq to know how to install them

more like
>get main quest
>clear out a draugr/dwemer/cave dungeon
>do thieves guild quest
>clear out a draugr/dwemer/cave dungeon
>join up with the mages college
>clear out a draugr/dwemer/cave dungeon
>continue main quest
>clear out a draugr/dwemer/cave dungeon
>grab a random side quest in hopes of it being something different
>clear out a draugr/dwemer/cave dungeon

oh boy big man thinks he is smart installing garbage mods on a shitty game! get the fuck out of here you fucking loser lol. they are not the game.

How do you have a computer that can play the game but not a modded game?
Are mod fans all this retarded?

>Implying the dumbing down isn't due to distancing Todd from the actual development process
>"But I try to spend as much time as I can looking at the game with whoever's doing that part of the game, and that's us having a conversation about it. "So what's working, what's not working, what are we trying to do?" And it's a lot of people... so it's definitely changed from me sitting down and designing something on my own to working with a lot of people"

The problem is too LITTLE Todd influence, user.

Attached: Toddy.png (729x350, 107K)

But you WILL be able to use the in-game shop for microtransactions properly from day one. That is assured.

True, but wasn't a theme park like Skyrim.

Watch this
youtube.com/watch?v=IGLGi5RK8V8

no, it's not. no amount of circlejerking will ever change that. it's revolutionary, and there's a reason people still go on to not only create new games but also mods for it.

>How do you have a computer that can play the game but not a modded game?
You can't I mean you literally can't be this retarded like you are either baiting or your fathers are brothers

6/10 in a normal scale
8,5/10 in new journalist scale

>too little todd influence
>"I thought that spellmaking turned the game into a boring spreadsheet simulator so we cut it out"
Yeah fuck him. He distanced himself and took everything good with him while still being a fucking game director.

don't worry user you still can buy some skins so your little brain doesn't have to explode trying to install a texture pack

hi todd.

There are mods that can make the game several times more demanding in terms of hardware.

Just a fancy enough ENB can make your fps plummet to the single digits even if your rig can handle the vanilla game.

>it's revolutionary
It is not, thought. And was not.
It was just a big game with a lot of boring content and an extremely OP advertising campaign. It simply lacked any competition, because there were no other game which didn't care about you so much that you had maximum freedom at the expense of being able to do something memorable besides inflating numbers.

Attached: syak.gif (400x450, 52K)

> Just say that your toaster can't handle mods

??????????????????????????????

Ok, listen user, you can run X game fine and then install some big mod that will hit your hard or a ENB that could tank your FPS, see Minecraft with shaders for example

Projecting this early? come on I can giv you a guide if you need it, but you have to stop being a retard that play Elder Scrolls games in console

Original for porn Special for playing

Here's the whole quote
>“Yeah, spellcrafting is a real wildcard. Something that we’ve done a lot. And there are pluses and minuses to it. We’d like to find… we have some ideas that we really like on how to solve that, and I don’t know where that’s going to go. But the thing that we DON’T like about the previous systems that we’ve done, is it becomes very “spread-sheety.” It takes the magic out of magic."

Note that he outright says that they are testing what works and doesn't work and it's an ongoing process. And he is right, to an extent. Once you can create spells and tweak their numbers, creating spells becomes a meaningless metagame that is less about creativity and more about efficiency.

Don't start backtracking now user.

>he's still going and trying to make me a loser who wastes time on some shitty game let alone garbage mods that don't make the game better

>How do you have a computer that can play the game but not a modded game?

For the old timers the spread sheet is the appeal.
Sad I know but true.
They used to have to roll die in char creation. Over and over and over.. they thought that was fun.

Now we are moving the goalposts?
Poor form user poor form indeed.

SE

>becomes a meaningless metagame that is less about creativity and more about efficiency.
And that is why I don't believe Todd: skyrim is all about meaningless metagame, inflating numbers as much as possible. Legendary weapons are trash, since you've already found all the enchantments and leveled smithing up to 100. Armor, which was hard to get in morrowind? You craft it, since you are the best smith in skyrim. You get the idea. There is no magic to be found in a system where your main measurements of success and abilities are 100 in all skills and 768 armor points. And still they deleted spellcrafting, even though it was the same shit, but with more fun and freedom of experimentation.

>me: just say that your toaster can't handle mods
>user: How do you have a computer that can play the game but not a modded game?
>me :you can run X game fine and then install some big mod that will hit your hard or a ENB that could tank your FPS
>user: Now we are moving the goalposts?
I know it's bait but still

It's mediocre at best. It's worse in every single aspect than its predecessors, apart from graphics.
And even the graphics are wasted on this game since every fucking dungeon looks the absolute same.

>creating spells becomes a meaningless metagame that is less about creativity and more about efficiency.
How is that a bad thing ?

Attached: 1533013939204.jpg (960x720, 63K)

>OBIS
Isn't it the epitome of fucking bloat?
I installed it once a few years back, had the feeling it fucked with the scripts too much. I think it even crashed the game a few times.

This, it is great. I had fun

OBIS doesn't have that much of scripts and never crashed to me

Is it out for SE?
I stopped giving a shit about muh waifus and garbage sex mods. Never playing LE again.

Yep

Not really, it used to be real fucking bad but the mod devs sat down a reworked it so the script bloat was cut down.
For little over a year the mod has functioned pretty well and hasn't crashed my game. Doesn't play nice with a couple of quest mods but otherwise its more than fine.

Nice.
Are there any mods that allow you to increase the overall number of enemies spawning? Hopefully compatible with most other shit.

Not really. The moment to moment is incredibly samey. I can't remember a single character because they're so dead and lifeless. Fallout 4 and 76 sucked nuts, but Fallout 3 and New Vegas were peak creation engine for me.

I think you can do that in the OBIS menu atleast for bandits

Just stop. You have lost. Try to keep some dignity.

Me? Losing? Never

Attached: the black tape project.jpg (627x885, 302K)

>Locked door that I am too unskilled to pick? Let me just go craft a spell that allows me to unlock any lock in the game.
>Man, leveling sneaking takes ages and I still have to pay attention to my surroundings even if my stealth skill is high. I know! I'll just craft a spell that makes me utterly invisible AND gives me the ability to detect every living creature in a massive radius, through any and all obstacles!

Spellcrafting was like a slightly less powerful version of console commands.

I don't see the problem, maybe the npcs should also use spell and potion crafting.

Attached: 1533012733581.jpg (474x476, 51K)

Then everyone would be a wizard. Do you want the series to be The Wizard Scrolls?

its better than being the stealth archer scrolls

Are we going to have a good combat system and spellcrafting ? If yes, then I want a Wizard Scroll game.

Attached: 1532803407396.jpg (933x1352, 359K)

Levitation trivialised 90% of combat encounters and crippled dungeon design. Only contrarians and fools miss it.

Attached: images.jpg (225x225, 8K)

after your first play through, just the mod the hell out of it that's when it gets good.

You didn't need to use it.
In skyrim you can't use it.

The only game I could actually set aside my life just to play for hours and hours
If you haven't seen Skyrim Granny it's the best thing ever.

>good graphics of course

I don't think it is. Size (landmass, content) and graphics do a great job at hiding how painfully repetitive and boring the game actually is.

Why would you want to use something that makes the game a snoozefest and completely breaks it?

It was a combination of levitation and the braindead AI that trivialized combat.
If it didn't have a ranged attack it would get to the closest point to you and run around in circles trying to find a path to you.

GOOD LORD

You are likely talking to Morrowind fans. They are by and large challenge averse.

Ofcourse not OP

Is there a single decently written quest in vanilla Skyrim? I really can't remember any.

Attached: 1566057234596.jpg (467x521, 56K)

The Imp v Stormcloak thing gets mentioned every now and again.
I hope they do more geo politics and less metaphysics world ending shit going forward.

Because breaking the game is fun.

The one with the draugr in the dungeon, and then you fight a bigger draugr who can use shouts.

Attached: 1565912816956.gif (245x185, 621K)

- Extremely repetitive quests.
- Extremely unrewarding quests, at that.
- Most unique weapons are leveled to your character, but don't scale with your level after you acquire them. Meaning that the best moment to acquire them is at the end of the game.
- Combat is awful.
- Guild quests are awful and don't take into account your build, at all.
- The voice acting is repetitive and poorly delivered for the most part. Whereas talented voice actors are able to portray a number of different voices, a given voice actor in a Bethesda game sounds exactly the same for every character they are voicing. There's not even an attempt to sound different.

The game just isn't good. At all. It's just big and mediocre, and big and mediocre are everything you need to make a game that sells.

>money
No thanks Todd
It is good as a fantasy /ss/ game though

Attached: 1566557358780.png (77x97, 7K)

It was a decent game, could have been a lot better, but it did waht a elderscrolls game needed to do.

what are some good skyrim and oblivion dungeons

Average. Without mods, graphics and even gameplay is shit. Some of the story is good. Still better than what Bethesda has released after Skyrim, even without the mods.
>Basically everything after Skyrim is below average at best

What are some good Khajiit mods?

Attached: pe-scared-cat.png (650x488, 652K)

It'll be as flexible or more flexible, mods will just be locked behind the creation club.

15 bucks.

The gameplay is basic and floaty but the environments are nice to explore and finding new loot is fun.

If you didn't say VA I would have thought you were talking about Morrowind.

In vanilla, the hobo phase, where you run around on your own, trying to manage resources and kiting enemies, where a random snow troll can one-shot you and you feel weak and small in the world, is the only good thing.
Mods make the rest fun too.

Playing around in the sandbox world like a child is literally the only reason to even play Vanilla Skyrim. Frankly it's hard to think of anything more pathetic than playing Skyrim to win. Try any other game not made by Bethesda.

go away zommy

It's really depressing to me that Skyrim has the modding culture it does rather than an open-world/open-ended fantasy game that actually had some kind of good gameplay foundation. A game like that I guess never got made and maybe never will be made.
