If the best JRPG games and faces of the genre are story-over-gameplay pieces of shit then this must be a horrifying genre. Fucking Pokemon has more interesting gameplay.

There are no stats bound to your character. You do not defeat enemies to gain experience towards leveling your character and increasing their strength.

Monster Hunter is a pure action game with a loot feedback loop.

So you're saying if I kill an enemy and get EXP and spend that EXP on a skill tree, that's an RPG, but if I kill an enemy to get GIL and spend that GIL on new equipment, that's not an RPG?
