Sometimes I genuinely hate Japanese people, but they're the only people making games with tight gameplay

I've just played like 40 min. The writing is trash and the gameplay is alright so far. IT's probably gonna get better since i'ts a platinum game, I imagine that it´s gonna be a blast to master it in the hardest difficulty.

But then again, I don't like the generic Evangelion derivative plot/atmosphere and the shitty wiring/cutscenes. Also how inexpressive the characters feel. I mean it also doesn't help that I'm playing MGS3 HD simultaneously. It's amazing how fucking entertaining and engaging the writing, cinematics, characters and history are when compared to AC, it´s not even close. But I guess I'm asking too much from this game which is clearly more focused on the gameplay and it clearly isn't too ambitious in terms of... anything.

In short, at least based on first impression, it´s gonna be one of those 8/10 games that is not going to blow anyone away at all. It's just a fun game with interesting mechanics to kills the time,

Also, the UI is 10/10, on pair with the P5 one.

Only played an hour or so but way too much of that time has been not every exciting cutscenes. You shouldn't need to show the exact same thing happening to 5 characters in turn.

The problem with uncharted style games is that they feel like their on rails even when your directly controlling the character. It's like the game is designed for letsplayers more than it is for people to actually play it.

The dialogue is obnoxious and stilted. It's turning me off from the game honestly.

Because I'm playing them simultaneously and it's just incredible how much enjoyment I'm getting out of MGS3 history when compared to the extreme boredom and cringe I feel every-time there's exposition in AC. I also think that if the devs insist on including a goddamn story then fucking do it right or don't even bother, be like Doom. But no, they insist on including a story so don't fucking blame me when I judge the game for it.

It's okay. I find the cop related shit incredibly boring, combat is alright but the severe lack of actual moves and chain tricks for your character is a real shame. It also turns into a total clusterfuck in smaller areas or when there's a bunch of enemies in the same area.

You need to try harder.

Customization items are generally off the beaten path so you'll miss most of them. I bet a bunch are stuck behind legion abilities you don't have in the early levels.

its been pretty fun so far but ive found some the specific things in combat annoying especially against bosses/mini bosses

This game is kind of shit honestly. Your character only has one attack combo and the Legion's attacks are entirely automated. I was expecting there to be way more interactivity. Dodging is clumsy as fuck too. The combat is easily way worse than Nier's.

I like it a lot
I like that the combat is slower but more methodical where your limited individual capabilities and the highly specific context that any Legion or Sync or Chain attack is used in means that you really have to line up the perfect shot to do well.
It feels good to be at a pure strength disadvantage for once and have to rely on good tactics.

I'm at mission 5 and while you get more options your actual character is still stuck with a single combo string. You get some thing that lets you extend it with your pet but that just amounts to hitting L2 during the bright blue flash in the combo.

I'm bad at action games and I think this is my first Platinum game. Most fights I either get S+ or D, no in-between.

I'm at chapter 9 and not really impressed with how slow things have been going. Does the story pick up in these last 3 chapters?

I just finished the opening/tutorial and it feels like total style over substance and just overall clunky. I'll give it at least a few hours before I give up but I don't think I'm going to like the actual gameplay much.

Stick with it until the end of file 4 and then judge it again. File 3 will try to kill your motivation to continue playing.
