Who can stop him?
Who can stop him?
What's wrong with him?
I find DnD podcasts super boring but he runs a good game
his wife will probably snap one day and murder suicide, she's kinda cute though so i get it
I really have nothing but praise for the man.
Now you know why celebrity divorces happen so often. Paying her half is a small price for your life.
an unsubstantiated accusation of sexual misconduct.
I second this, what's wrong with him? His wife is kind of annoying but the man is a great DM and a legitimate good person off camera.
His psycho wife
Shame really because he's a good guy. Guarantee she starts some scandal that ends with him getting blacklisted.
psycho wife? explain
Watch any video with her in it
No one. He will betray you then swan right back in.
She's perfectly normal, calm down.
?
Obviously i'm not seeing whatever you are seeing then, she doesn't act psycho in any of them as far as I have seen. Awkward maybe, but that's about the most of it
>asking Yea Forums about a woman
90% of the replies are guaranteed to be from literal incels who unabashedly hate all women. Don't waste your time. Marisha's a pretty average person all-around. Says some dumb shit sometimes, but not any more than any other person, including Matt.
Honestly we'll all see once critical role comes to an end totally, as in if they don't do a third campaign or more or if something stops the second campaign. This is whats giving Marisha her big exposure since shes not nearly as famous as a VA opposed to everyone else.
she's not psycho she's just awkward and dumb, everybody at the table is a better actor and role player than her, so she really sticks out as the weak link at the table
She seems like a bit of a quick to anger type who gets frustrated quickly, but no more flawed than anyone else really. Buts a woman so you're going to get incel relies claiming she is literally the devil.
One German hobo.
>deciphers your villain's written cypher
>Counterspells her 4th level spell even with a point of exhaustion
>turns a potential long-term baddie into an easy one-and-done
Heh, zat is, how you vould say... nossing personal, liebchen.
>everyone at the table is a better actor
>In a world where Ashley exists
All she does is mumble slowly as her hamster wheel of a brain tries to think of what to say, and thats WHEN she even speaks, 90% of the time she is dead silent.
Absolute worst cast member, thank fuck she is barely around.
I agree she's not psychotic, probably, but she is def the weak link at the table in basically all forms and you can tell in some situations she tries really hard to pull the GF/Wife card on matt and tries to get her way more than the others. Not all the time but she does.
No shit Liam cheats, the only to at the table with any integrity are Travis and Sam who also happen to be the best players there
Seething incel. Matt literally killed her character in champaign 1. He is an autistic d&d chad who doesn't give a shit about his wifes sad faces at the table.
Ashley I dont even count as a member. Like you said she is barely even there.
Met both of them at a ren fair, Matt was an unmitigated sweetheart. As nice as you think he is is exactly how nice he is. Also noticed Marisha and the tall dude who produces the show like snuggling and hugging, so I guess they're in an open relationship or something? Whatever, it's their business, I just hope he gets to do some stuff on the side as well. He truly deserves the best.
ok whats everybody here going on about
I'm curious how the animation will turn out after they got like ten million dollars more than what they asked for.
I legit sometimes forget she is at the table when I'm only listening. And I fucking cringe whenever people interact with her, its like speaking to a fucking NEET. At least Marisha has a pair of nuts on her and speaks up.
>Liam cheats
Absolutely fucking SEETHING Mercer who got KRAUT'd by the Big Wizard Cock. Name one time Liam "Fuck Your Villain" O'Brian cheated.
He is a good DM but his play style isn't ideal for introducing people into plying their own group.
If people watch CR and go into a group then say "oh wait this isn't CR at all
>DM, Matt Mercer did X like this or he would've done Y better etc etc etc
My response is usually "Matt is a good DM, if you want me to get on his level then I expect my players to be on the level of Sam and/or Travis"
This shuts them up.
I often notice they get every rule wrong and I asked a few of them once, "hey have you read X section of the book?" To see the extent of their knowledge but they often only skim the section regarding their class and race, often ignoring feats entirely.
In short, CR fans transitioning into their own table will find their expectations shattered and far more expected of them than they realized.
D&D is a two way road, it requires player and DM cooperation to create an enjoyable group storytelling experience.
I also ban freakshit races, suck it.
>His Wife is in her 30's
>No Child
No wonder she's crazy.
Matt Mercer's a voice actor who runs a popular DnD show with a group of friends/other voice actors.
It's pretty good. Time consuming as hell though.
She tries that doesn't mean he does anything succeeds. It is pretty entertaining to watch Travis's and Sam's wtf reactions when she does try to be serious or say something "profound"
Why would you want to stop him? He's a genuinely nice dude.
i know why are idiots on here crying about his wife
Haven't been keeping up with the campaign for about over a month. Last thing I remember was saving the gobo's husband and what I think was betrayal. Only been seeing highlights here and there, can anyone info dump me on whats been going on exactly? Im not sure why I stopped watching regularly but has anyone else also 'dropped' campaign 2? Also when is Caleb gonna go full lich and kill the party after water orc's betrayal?
Critical Role, its a dungeons and dragons stream done by a group of voice actors. Matt (Guy in OP) along with critical role itself triggers people in /tg/ hard for various reasons.
>Matt and the group are all nice people
>The group isn't a soulless husk of celebs doing shit just for money, they'd all been playing d&d together off camera for years.
>There are three women at the table, adding incel points to the seething
>Its popular so its bad
>I also ban freakshit races, suck it.
Incredibly based. I only allow core races minus dragonborn (fucking autistic dragon-fucking scalies in my group will ONLY play them if allowed). And I'm getting close to tossing out tieflings.
She's not my favorite player at the table either, but people like to hyper-exaggerate how bad she is.
Finally someone fucking said it.
he even acknowledges about the people who "Expect their D&D experience like critical role" as depressing. Matt Mercer's a great lad and he's only really brought good where he goes. You can have opinions/criticisms about his voice acting of course but the dude's a genuinely nice guy who's humble as fuck.
Oh I totally agree the "matt mercer effect" is a real thing but that's less on Matt and more on the fans. He's gone on record saying "his way" of playing is just that his own and people need to find whats right for their table not try and emulate him or the characters.
Few reasons. She isn't very submissive which makes people uncomfortable, she isn't an mlg pro gamer who always does the right thing, and she sometimes gets mildly huffy but no more than any other person. Top that off with people who don't get that these are a group of very long term friends who can handle some raised voices, and that a lot of her yelling from her is RP of her monk, with the icing on the cake being women are generally hated, and there you go.
I've already tossed out tieflings.
I allow dragon born because I find that if a male is playing them they bro it up on par with dwarves/orcs/Goliaths.
If I remember correctly, him getting the kill on Thordak season 1 he rolled to attack and declared a natural 20 and immediately picked up the dice before anybody could confirm he does shit like that all through campaign 1. He's better about in 2 but I still don't trust the fucker
Hopefully no one he's great and not a sellout.
I'm just happy they are no longer with that absolute trashhole geek and sun, literally the US NERDS of youtube.
NADDpod > TAZ >>>>>>> CR
Critical Role is just kinda eh. Matt's an amazing DM and the roleplay is good, but they're just kinda...shitty players I guess.
>Ban the Tieflings and Dragonborn
>Allow Kenku
>The people that play them are nice and not trying to fuck everything in sight
You know Matt Mercer himself said this exact same shit right? You aren't dropping any profound fucking knowledge here with the "D&D is a two-way road" shit; Matt wrote a lengthy post about this, right down to the "If you want to have a character arc like Scanlan, you better bring it" that you just paraphrased. The fuck is the point of this thread?
i know what the show is i watch it
God, Travis is such a lucky man. If he wasn't so based, I'd be angry at him.
Shit, that's not bad. I may actually adopt that. No one plays Kenku in a fucked up way.
Yeah I'm not good at explaining my point but that was mostly what I was trying to get across.
Matt and his table play their own way which has been molded by the fact they play on a stream.
If you look at episode 1 vs current day episode it's very different styles of play.
And that play method isn't suitable for a new player to jump in and try to emulate.
>Matt said it
Yes but no one listened and thus we keep having these retarded "did he ruin dnd" threads.
Yes. He is decreasing quality of new players but he isn't doing it on purpose. It's the audiences fault.
>The fuck is the point of this thread?
OP is a faggot trying to get us to hate one of the most interesting people on the internet thinking we're the cuckholds at /tg/
I like the look of the animation, but I worry that animated D&D segments run the risk of losing the charm that makes them unique as a form of storytelling in the first place.
i.e. Improv comedy, and luck based combat.
The reason that the bard tanking an entire vampire minion compound on his own was one of the best moments of the campaign was because of how improbable and smartly improvised it was. Hard to capture that same feeling in a scripted book or movie.
Who bans official races? The fuck.
Who is the best player at the table and why is it Sam?
i know right
files.catbox.moe
You just know Laura cosplays during sex, you just fucking know.
Tieflings and Dragonborn attract the worst of the worst. You lose nothing but shit players and maximum autism by banning them. They also very rarely make any sense within the setting. Stop trying to be snowflakes and just pick a normal fucking race.
There is a dedicated roleplaying idea where you can only talk as a Kenku using mimicry but I forgive that one for my players because that shits HARD to communicate with.
Go back to twitch.tv/lil'zoom
>Chad muscle body
>Square jawed
>Voice of an angel
>Respectful to his fellow players and DM
>Nice to fans
>Good player and good RPer
>Good sense of humor
He is perfection.
Depends on who you ban. Tieflings you can argue are okay. Dragonborn are straight up a gamble. Kenku players are based. Ban Tabaxi. Fuck the Aasimar.
Thats my experience.
Jesus, what is this? Is it from a game?
Early Adventure Zone was easily my favorite. They're basically learning the game and winging it as they go along but they're having a blast with it the whole time.
Been having trouble getting into the new campaign though.
I mean, Sam is a goddamn superhero, so that's not really fair. But Travis as well is fucking great. A shame his character is such a bore.
My nigga. Travis is about the one man I'd go gay for.
I bet you exlusively play human male fighters and seeth autistically at perfect normal people playing perfectly fine exotic races.
I met him at Momocon two years ago to get a Persona 5 signed as a wedding present to someone. I told him I played D&D and the dude was so cool.
I've been playing since AD&D and tieflings and dragonborn are hardly snowflake races. It all comes down to the players. You want to know what a snowflake race is? I had someone in a party one time playing a wemic with a sentient sword. Go ahead, look up a wemic, because I know most people have never even heard of that shit before.
/tg/
Marisha isn't psycho or malicious, she's just genuinely retarded
youtu.be
>Laura flirts with him at the table
>Travis acts coy
Wholesome relationship.
>an unsubstantiated accusation of sexual misconduct.
No. It will be Liam O'Brien who gets the accusation.
Better question...why would you want to? He's fucking awesome.
pretty good impression
Get better players then? Might as well ban rogues and wizards then since it attracts the worst players. Normal races? Like boring as fuck humans, dwarves and elves? Also what games are you playing? If its home brew do better world building if you think x race doesn't make sense. If its any official module Tieflings and Dragonborn work fine in the lore. If you think they don't work in the lore then you also do not think sorcerers work in the world.
>Go ahead, look up a wemic
>Its a fucking Lionel from Breath of the Wild
Yeah no fuck that.
>"You know fish are not magnetically attracted to water"
God I love same so much, he so fucking quick witted
>Falling towards rocks
>Druid
>Can turn into bird
>But.. water
>Turn into a fish
>ban tiefling and dragonborn
>the same autist just picks drow anyway
now what
Next campaign I was gonna run a rogue and base his behavior off of Kakashi Hatake. Not a word for word "this is him" like some kind of weeb but I like the chill laid back type of ninja he is. Granted I dont even like Naruto anymore but he was the one thing I liked from that trainwreck. Rock Lee is also cool but he'd be more of a monk.
Now I have every single townsperson throw rotten fruit at the filthy drownigger and ensure that his entire experience is as miserable as an actual drow's life would and should be.
She might be retarded but it makes for great entertainment and too her credit she was dying of laughter just like the rest of them.
>I used your revival coin.....
>Oh? OOOH....
That shit made me laugh hard.
Why stop someone so cool?
based, fuck those people
but you could also do the same to tieflings.
>/tg/ run off comes to cry about Matt
>Yea Forums tells him to fuck off
Is Yea Forums dare I say it.. Based?
you mean laura is such a lucky woman
Who's excited for BG3?
Sounds like fun RP to me, faggot. You sound like a trash DM who can't really handle people playing anything outside the core races.
only could the cuckholds at /tg/ hate a man as cool as matt
>"Was was I suppose to turn into a flying creature?"
>"That's up to you?!"
I feel for Matt I really do, still funny as shit though
He makes their secret club more popular, of course /tg/ hates him.
>laura constantly shipping and pushing jester/fjord in game
>fjord's just a massive fucking loser virgin and doesn't know how to handle female attention
shit's hilarious, Travis is amazing.
Travis Willingham's voice is a gift
>can anyone info dump me on whats been going on exactly?
>They tried to track a guy opening up demon portals
>followed him into a Celestial tunnel
>he turned out to be a cambion or something
>cambion unleashes The Laughing Hand, a monster connected to an evil god
>cambion turns Yasha evil
>Nein have to run away
>They go back to Rohsonna and then they decide to follow Cadeucus' vision to reforge the magic sword they have in two pieces
>they travel to the volcano in the vision and meet family of dwarves
>get sent to nearby multiculti dwarf/elf fusion underground city with racemixed dwarves and elves
>find smith to fix sword
>have to get mithril and then get white dragon to breath on it to make needed materials
>they meet annoying druid guest
>they get the job done
>reforge the sword
>they give it to Fjord and he takes paladin level
old age and/or cancer
>If any other character who didn't have the revival coin was there she would be actually dead
Never had anyone in my games fuck up this badly my god
Pike was with the group she has raise dead so she would have been revived anyway
liam is the most underrated cast member fight me
Can we just agree that they're both perfect and that their kid will probably be an actual fucking succubus (male)?
I hate it when people arent allowed to make mistakes like that. She’s not trying to sabotage the game and in fact mistakes like that are what make the game fun or at the very least unpredictable.
She's perfectly allowed to make mistakes like that. The only issue is that she plays high WIS characters when she herself is an actual retard. Nothing's wrong with being an actual retard, and a lot of her plays are really amusing. But they're also very obviously MARISHA plays, not KEYLETH/BEAU plays. It really takes one out of the fiction when you're like "yeah that's just Marisha being Marisha."
I won't, because he is. Always loved Liam O'Brian as a voice actor (I want to fuck Akihiko), and it was cool finding CR and realizing he's a great guy IRL too.
People can have preferences and/or complaints about any one player's style, but I think the variety helps the game in the end.
Like Matt says later on, if she had just done the smart thing and turned into a bird everyone would have forgotten it in like five minutes, but we'll never forget the magical goldfish suicide immediately after declaring "We are Gods."
He likes to pretend he's the main character
>ban the tryhard races
>allow Kenku
based to be honest
>The only issue is that she plays high WIS characters when she herself is an actual retard.
Keyleth was not only a high WIS character but also a high INT one too.
Fuck yeah
Holly go to sleep it's late.
>Liam, Taliesin, and especially Marisha always try to argue Matt's decisions and rulings.
>Travis and Sam always go with his rulings Matt's rulings knowing he has final say and don't want to slow down the game
Travis and Sam are the best players at the table
I think he has his share of "what the hell?" decisions, but I'm always glad he's there.
Especially after hearing that he was the one who had the most fun with their first session and reached out to the others about making it a regular thing.
>walks away
>Body stuck at bottom of cliff with ocean waves
>Party member has to run to the party, run back to the cliff, scale down the bottom of massive cliff all fast enough so the body isn't lost
I've noticed whenever he voices a character, I usually like that character the best.
I really give Sam and Travis props, because when I first watched the show I assumed that their characters would be my least favorite just based on the surface descriptions, (i.e. the perverted bard and the dumb warrior) but the execution of those simple character archetypes and the way they expanded upon them was brilliant in the end.
as a fa/tg/uy i feel immense sorrow for him for being straddled with a bunch of retarded murder hobos, he should drop half the group and give a stern talking to the other half
Agreed. Wacky Racers as a module and a game show run by Liches are honestly great ideas but I didn't care for Eleventh Hour and that's the one everyone loved and tried to make more of. The new campaign bored me straight out
You've never run a game though?
its her its from when she was in Blood Rayne
The problem is that the one actual problem player is his wife. The others are fine.
>tfw really liked Titansgrave
I liked the world
What makes you think that big boi?
That old interview where he talked about jumping out of his car and accidentally terrifying a fan of the show had me in stitches. He seems like a sweet guy.
aceofwonders.tumblr.com
>Jesus, what is this? Is it from a game?
They had a session where everyone was dressed up.
>wil wheaton
I liked pretty much the whole first campaign. The final stretch of it was more railroaded then I would have liked, but the show apparently got a lot bigger than they had expected to, so I could appreciate them just wanting to go out on a feel-good bang.
The second campaign isn't terrible but it takes itself so much more seriously from the get-go, and splits up the characters so often that they don't have the chance to really play off of each other like they used to. I miss the goofs.
It's almost like they are all friends and have playing together, Weird stuff man you should try it.
>Critical Role is a fun enough show for what it is
>Fanbase is akin to Doctor Who in that most Diehard fans are super cringey and too obsessed with integrating themselves as cornerstones of the community
>Matt is probably the best DM we will ever get in a quasi mainstream medium as he is usually prepared, eleonquent, and does a good job at trying to keep things challenging and fun.
>Marisha is arguably the least successful of the group, at least until she became an executive of the show. She has the least amount of talent/experience and tries to compensate in her gameplay. However, she tries too hard and earns the ire of men who dont buy her tough girl persona. She uses said hate as a rally flag in the community to cement her popularity
>Talesin is the resident edgy guy who like to have his characters be dark and edgy like he perceives himself to be. He often tries to do cool, edgy stuff only to be told it does t work. He can start off annoying but once your realize he is actually just doing the right thing and roleplaying you learn to accept it. Has a tendency to metagame in story elements to give his character more allure
>Liam is the "smart guy". He has the 2nd most amount of knowledge of the game and knows how to break the game to an extent. He purposely got himself to max intelligence to open up the window to being able to achieve impossible stat checks. Will abuse wording or vague item descriptions to his benefit but is pretty creative overall. His characters and mannerisms all have sadness in them leading me to believe that he actually suffers from some sort of depression that he wants others to acknowledge. Would not be surprised if he killed himself at some point
>Laura is the best girl on the show and probably any DnD podcast ever. She role plays very well , and often her characters are fan favorites. Shea not the most tactically minded and forgets effects or makes bad moves but because of her roleplaying it doesnt infuriate the Male fans.
No thanks, I don't cater to degenerate exhibitionists who put PDA's and sly innuendos at each other exclusively
i hate marisha ray
consider suicide if you play a murder hobo
>Degenerate exhibitionists
>PDA's and sly innuendos
