what is it with isaac's shooting mechanics? compare killing enemies in this game to any shmup.

Bad. Damage scaling means that if you do too much damage per second, it gives the boss a progressively larger reduced damage taken multiplier. It is possible to break the damage scaling cap, but it basically requires a butt-fuckingly broken run with hundreds of items.

Shit like being able to curve bullets is what made me get so into BoI in the first place, you can do interesting trickshots like sniping enemies behind rocks at an angle. I love shmups but the way BoI plays is a totally different playstyle that rewards patience (at least in Rebirth and previous versions).

Kilburn mentioned that he was going to add damage scaling to the witness in a later update to Antibirth (the one that was supposed to come out a year ago in March). He might've said it in an interview somewhere if I can find it.

Yea but only in his base form. When he transforms into any boss he gets it. Plus he has like a billion and 1 hp so it feels like he has it regardless.

Rock Bottom is also an all stats down by default. It has powerful synergy, but if you get it early, it makes everything more difficult and if you get it late, you're not touching it, period.
