>What? You still haven't learned that one very important mechanic of the game?
>Oh don't worry buddy, ill make REALLY sure you learn it.
What? You still haven't learned that one very important mechanic of the game?
what mechanic was it
Dodging I guess
Memes
I didn't know I could block in the game until my 3rd playthrough. I went the game 2 times only using the Aggressiive Defensive move that gave you iframes. Also I played on a Pentium 4 with 15 fps and I never realized until much later I could use the health packs which I thought were a joke or something. It took me like 7 hours to beat the game.
yeah what mechanic?
Bladewolf was parrying, Mistral was piss easy, and Monsoon is what, how to use items in a small time window?
Oh no, sam was parrying
AND IT WILL COME
LIKE A FLOOD OF PAIN
Literally introduced you to edglord mode.
"Turn off the inhibitors doctor"
>Beat MGR on max difficulty
>Used to play the bosses on very hard for fun
>Re-install the game for the first time in a couple years
>Can't beat Sam on Normal
POURING DOWN ON ME
I didn't know Sundowner even had a second phase
because I somehow sucked enough to be an inch off on cutting his shields and exploded.
So I just kept fighting him in phase 1 the entire time.
How the fuck did you get MGR:R running on a Pentium 4? Those shits are more dated than the 360 Xenon CPU.
HEAT OF THE DESERT
Don't make fun of me
Did a no damage run on all the bosses and this fucking guy with the smoke grenade was absolute horse shit. If you were even remotely close, the initial pop of the smoke would do 0.1% damage and fuck up your run.
i like playing the bosses on hardest difficulty but dont like the rest of the game all that much
is there a game like mgr with it being mostly just bosses, never really played anything else in the genre i guess
It has a long start-up though, where he twirls the grenades before throwing them.
You can cut the grenade in half if you attack at the right time, preventing the damage. The offensive defense ability is good for this
DMC development cycles
I beat the whole game up to this point without parrying so I was glad it forced me to figure it out, very useful
DUST SETTLES ON MY FACE
THE UNENLIGHTENED MASSES
DMC, Bayo, God Hand, and Ninja Gaiden are the obligatory ones.
You might like Furi. It's short, all bossfights, great visuals and music. Not nearly as complex as a true character action game but still lots of fun.
Seconding for Furi. It's half bullet hell and half simplified character action but like user said it's all boss fights and the music is top notch. I think it's pretty tough too but honestly I'm not very good at action games. It's also like $15
I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT MONEY, JACK. I'M TALKING ABOUT MONEY
Titan souls. It's literally only bosses.
And you better play it, because I had to load up this thread on my phone to reply, since my apartment building is blanket ip banned
Yeah but it's a new mechanic at that point, what conceivable way would I be able to learn it prior?
thanks for the suggestions i'll check them out
more memes plz
Stroking your dick in time with the soundtrack.
It's real shame they didn't patch Sundowner to fix that
Time to leave them...
Yeah I didn't even bother to try to use parrying until this fight, and then here you fucking HAVE to learn it. Was pretty satisfying finally getting it down after spending 3+ hours on him.
In my defense it was my first character action game
ALL BEHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIND
I didn't learn parrying against Bladewolf though, it wasn't until Monsoon that I was forced to learn

could a sequel ever live up to this game?
No
Yeah easily, just remove the QTEs, fix the level design so there aren't invisible walls everywhere, and make the platforming good. They could rerelease Revengeance with these changes and I'd pay $60.
Gameplay wise, sure.
Character / Story / Meme wise, i strongly doubt it.
How do you even top someone like Armstrong in the metal gear setting?
using emp grenades
Im mediocre as fuck at video games and even i fathom the idea of someone dying in MGRR
Even at the highest difficulties, the only remotely challenging boss fights is doing it no-damage. Its easy as fuck to parry 99%+ of all their attacks. When you account for the fact you have 5 health bars thanks to nanopaste, you really shouldnt die.
I kinda agree. The gameplay is easy to replicate but the music and memes just hit the spot.
what games have even come close to this one in meme potential since its release? Tbh even dmc5 was kinda bland. Top notch gameplay but I didn't find it particularly memorable.
Its hard to find games with plot so blatantly over the top
E.Y.E. came a few years before MGRR, i would say its pretty close.
If count terrible and unfunny games with crazy plots, you can also count in Hunt Down the Freeman, i guess.
I guess Metal Wolf Chaos since technically it just came out in the West.
