Memes aside, there is no such thing as a half a press. Once the button is pressed down it's pressed 100%. Full press. Releasing it is not part of the press process.

If releasing causes an action to happen and it isn't a press what would you call it?
Half button presses have existed since at least the SNES days if not longer zoom zoom
It exists in the context of a segmented run, """""""""""""Henry""""""""""""".
you legitimately have a sub standard if if you can't understand this
I know this is a shitpost thread but I'm going to answer anyway because a lot of people genuinely don't understand it.
When he says a half press he's not referring to how the button is pressed but not depressed which is what a lot of people think and why people get confused, he's actually referring to how it counts as one press for a run of the entire game, but it doesn't count as a press for a run of just the level, since he only has to press A to enter the level and doesn't press it during the level, he just keeps it held.
So it's half because it counts as 1 in the context of a full SM64 run, but counts as 0 for a run of the level.
>memes aside
>posts outdated meme
TJ "Henry" Yoshi is the modern martyr who died to be a saint
Doesn't matter what it is, Speedrunners are mentally sick to spend this much time on some stupid shit like an extra second off video game runs that utilize nothing but cheating and exploits
I am depressed, and I want to be pressed. What do you recommend?
Again. He's not claiming he's pressing the button half its merely terminology used to denote how the level can be completed. He even acknowledges it as such in the video. Half A-press is just the ability to clear the level while the button is kept held down from a previous actual A press. Since you're not pressing the A button but merely keeping it in the same position it does not technically count as an A-press but for the sake of clarity he identifies it as a half a-press. Not everything has to be literal you spergs.
The terminology is just wrong. Should have named them unreleased press or unpressed release.
You could say that on analog buttons, it would be possible to do half a button press. MGS 3 for example pushing in the button would draw your weapon out, while depressing it quickly would fire.
In the context of Mario 64, yea half a button press is not a thing.
Holy fucking shit why do i have to explain this to you fuckers
When you press down, and release the A button it counts as a single A press. This is because distinct actions can be done during the press down phase, and the release phase
So if you enter a level with the A button already pressed down, with the only option to release it. It is half an A press.
I swear to fucking god I'm going to BLJ you all into a parallel universe you skuttlefucks
You know all of this could have been avoided if pancakeman called it something less cryptic like “Hazy maze cave beaten by only holding A” or something.
Press A down and don't releases it.
I want you to press A again without releasing it, a input must go through for it to count.
t. person who doesn't watch out for rolling rocks
A sub standard if if?
>Press A down and don't releases it.
So press it 100%? Like a full press. 1 (one) press?
Why would you want all of this to be avoided? It's comedy.
ah so it’s two A presses because it’s two actions... that makes a lot more sense now. thanks user!
remember when he posted here and got banned for being underage?
post his tweet about the TF2 crates.
Releasing
I don't know why people needs another word like "full-a press" or whatever just to describe trivial motions, so yeah, TJ """""""""""""""""""'Henry"""""""""""" Yoshi is in the right
Mating press obviously
An unpress.....?
