Buddy of mine went to GameStop yesterday to pick up some PS4 controllers and decided to browse the new releases. I asked him if he had considered picking up Control and he responded with "what's that, never heard of it" followed by a "I looked through all the new PS4 releases and didn't see it there".
I'm a big fan of Remedy's work so I like to support all of their games.
I was in Boston yesterday and decided to pop into a GameStop to pick up a copy. Same experience. I looked through the new releases in their PS4 section and nothing. Tons of August releases, multiple "shelf copies" of recent games. I looked through the other PS4 sections, nothing. I checked the front of the store, maybe it's in one of the display cases that have other new August releases/upcoming September games- nothing. Figured I was going crazy, checked my phone to make sure I had the release date right, after all maybe that's the reason that my buddy and I aren't seeing copies of it- obviously I wasn't mistaken. I checked the New Releases for PS4 again (for a fourth time) and scanned 30-odd games and the same 7 placeholder copies of Kingdom Hearts III.
GameStop didn't put out a copy of Control.
Sickened, I went to the counter and asked if they had it. "Yup", employee unlocks a drawer behind the desk. "Oh, it looks like you didn't put a copy on the shelf yet?" "uh...should be a copy under the New Release shelf", "I didn't see one", "Yeah, it's there". After buying the game, I wandered back over. Nope.
Personally I find it quite sickening that Gamestop are ignoring this release. No coincidence that it's the new big PS4 game either.
I implore all of you to please call up your local Gamestop stores and ask them to please make sure they have copies visibly on sale on the shop floor. Go to the store if you have to, or write an email to management.
No one buys games from gamespot anymore. It's either amazon or just day 1 digital

> No coincidence that it's the new big PS4 game either. Kek it's on all platforms, not like it's a slight against Sony in particular. Also: > Shopping at Gamestop in 2019 Dobule kek. Pic related.
Federal Bureau of Control where the game takes place, Remedy's version of X-Files/SCP Foundation/Men in Black/Whatever else made up government department that deals with paranormal or ayy lmaos.

your local store is just lazy/incompetent. Most likely since all the store leaders are in Nashville for SL conference this week and the people there are probably lazy and or dumb without him cracking the whip. If you really want to hammer home your point to them, do the survey shit at the bottom of the receipt and complain about it in the survey.

The game doesn't look that good.

So it's another shooter with a tacked on magic system where throw litter at people? What's the big deal about it?
Using the abilities is more fun than shooting and everytime people say >hurr another one of these all they can do is mention Half Life 2 and some Star Wars game from decades ago. So I'm glad they made a game like this instead of another Tomb Raider copy.

For me its story and deepest lore.

That's like saying the Jedi Knight games are FPS games with tacked on magic powers, both systems are important in exploring and dealing with enemies in the game one can't live without the other.

who cares about gamestop?

The PS4 version regularly drops to 15fps. It's a good thing they don't promote this shoddy product
abilities feel nice and powerful and shooting while nothing special is still fun and very precise with no crosshair getting larger while shooting bullshit. not too far from Payne games and fortunately nothing like quantum shit
Jonathan Cooper
Stop shilling your crappy game here.

Pro isn't much better, 20fps in every big shootout

>hurr another one of these >all they can do is mention like 2 games only Quantum Break had way more powers Psi-Ops had way more psychokinesis, more than just telekinesis but psychokinesis and clairvoyance etc Destroy All Humans were alright The Force Unleashed games had good telekinesis and were thirdperson Prey has powers and is a shooter Bioshock has powers and is a shooter Dead Space were third person shooters with powers Dishonored was like Prey That one Bionicle thirdperson shooter had powers Dark Messiah UberSoldier was an fps with psychic powers Psychonauts did dreamscapes and psychic powers better Singularity and Timeshift were fps games with time powers Even Saint's Row 4 was a third person shooter with powers There in fact have been a bunch of games similar to this where you use abilities and shoot, and this one has very few abilities. The game looks nice, but considering you fight the same enemies with the same couple of abilities the same way 10 minutes into the game and at the end of the game kind of shows how little variety it has. Also the story was a big mess that led to nearly nowhere. You could write the plot in a couple of lines. Protag is possessed by good from other dimensino, missing brother is possessed by evil from other dimension. Protag wins. Pretty disappointing overall. I did like some of the dreamscapes as they reminded me of the Chzo Mythos games, but it was a slog to play, and they could've done much more. Feels like a 15 dollar indie game in all but graphics.
