I just bought it for switch a few days ago. First played it on the Game Cube. I've played DS and yes it is better than DS mainly due to the diversity of enemy hit reactions where as in DS hit reactions are pretty bare bones. Other factors like healing and ammo help increase the difficulty and force you to think more about your decisions.

Can you even use word combat if you are using a gun?

Like I said weird comparison to make considering they arnt similar in anyway gameplay wise.

This. RE4 requires thought and good positioning to overcome what it throws at you. It also is tons more interesting.

I think you might want to define “deep”. They’re both great but, c’mon.

The principals of the combat are similar including wind up times, positioning and damage counts. I think you've been so used to dark souls you sort of forget what a good combat system really looks like.

Resident Evil 4 came out in 2005 and Dark Souls came out in 2011 (2009 if you count Demon's Souls).

I know that "garbage" has a negative implication, but that's not to say it's not enjoyable. Taco bell is hot garbage, but I still eat it. No, what I mean is that it's popcorn flick action movie level of garbage, and it was trying to follow the success of other great games rather than trying to improve what was good about Resident Evil. REmake 1 is as close to a 10/10 as you're going to find. Re4 is more like 4/10. Fun, but shallow trash.

I enjoyed RE4. Dark Souls felt incredibly clunky and slow.

Reminds me of how my fat autistic friend started going to the gym and had me play racket ball. He immediately starts with the hardest serves possible despite me saying I never played a racket sport before. Definitely. The fact that it has limbs as hit areas alone makes it. DS can be completed with one weapon one attack type.

RE4 is overall a better game than DS, with lots of effort and thought put into it. DS is mostly eerie spooky mystery undertones, you later read on wiki about what they mean, other than that its a dungeon crawler throughout the game.
