Only the movement and the animations have been improved, it is still a very low effort button masher like the first game. Enemies are helpless and have no moveset variety, like the first game. You can effortlessly cheese enemies with the correct Chip/Word setup, like the first game. The dodge in Automata is more broken this time round. The gameplay has basically gone from a 5/10 to a 6. This is embarrassing for Platinum

But yeah, Automata gave me feelings similar to playing PS2 games as a teen. It's a non-patronizing video game adventure, with finale that certainly made me emotional.
Niers are not JRPGs though.
