"Dunmer."

>"Dunmer."

>That is our name. Yet you deny us even this courtesy. You, and the white-skinned, jaundice-haired apes of this godforsaken frozen wilderness. To you Nords, we are they gray ones, the ashen-skinned, the "dark elves" of Morrowind who have as much place in your land as an infection in an open wound.

>But where, you may ask, have we taken up residence? Why none other than the ancient city of Windhelm, once the capital of the First Empire. Yes, Nords, in the shadow of your own Palace of the Kings, where the Nord hero Ysgramor once held court, we now thrive. Oh yes. Your beloved Five Hundred Companions may have driven our ancestors from Skyrim, but that was then. This is now.

>Indeed, one might be surprised as to just how well we've settled into Windhelm. The district once known as the Snow Quarter is thus named no more. Now, they call it the Gray Quarter, for such is the reality of the Dunmer occupation. The district is now populated entirely by my kind, a victory not lost on its residents.

>Oh, but the peaceful occupation goes even further. Thirsty? You'll find no Nord mead hall in the Gray Quarter. But the spirits flow well enough in the New Gnisis Cornerclub. Seeking a respected family? You'll find no Gray-Manes within these walls. But perhaps you'd like to pay a visit to the home of Belyn Hlaalu, descendant of one of the most noble houses in all of Morrowind. Ah, but no. You Nords don't come to the Gray Quarter, do you? You fear our streets as you fear our skin.

>So now, "children of Skyrim," you have the truth of it. You may call this province home, but you can no sooner claim to own it than a cow can claim to own its master's field. You are just another breed of domestic animal, grazing stupidly while higher beings plot your slaughter.

Based.

You do worship the good daedra Azura, Mephala and Boethiah right Yea Forums?

This kinda makes me want to reinstall skyrim so I can kill every non essential dunmer NPC. Game is shit so I won't.

The Gray Quarter was a ghetto and the Dunmer the niggers of Windhelm
I dont exactly call that thriving

Fucking BASED!

>Game is shit so I won't.
>non essential
That's part of the reason. Get rid of "essential" NPCs; the player should have the freedom to kill anyone and everyone they see fit, even if it screws up the quests.

Heh, nothing personal, outlander.

Dagoth was so ashamed of being dungmer he hid his face in shame behind a frying pan.
Helseth was so ashamed of being a dungmer he had his ears bobbed to try to hide it.

Every dungmer carries the shame on knowing who they are.

do you elf niggers ever shut up?

>Thanks for the mazte. Such generosity should be repaid. You know the Nord once ruled this land, don't you? Back when these Dark Elves were squatting around campfires in nix skins? Back in the First Age when the sons of Harald Hand-Free ruled the northern coasts of Tamriel, during the Skyrim Conquests? Well, I bet you didn't know Olmgerd the Outlaw, Harald's bastard, was buried as befits a Nord lord's son, in his ship, in a tomb deep in the mother rock.

>And of course they buried Stormkiss with him. Stormkiss was Olmgerd's enchanted battle-axe. And you see this old key? See what it says on it? 'Stormkiss.' Here. Take it. Healer says the mazte is killing me. I'm going home to Skyrim to die. You, you got your life ahead of you. Go ahead. Take it.

>They say they buried Olmgerd in the bottom of an ancient Dunmer tomb. From the skald's telling, the burial was on a long finger of land on the southeast coast of Vvardenfell, on a little island close to shore on the west coast of the peninsula. Figure it's somewhere on the stretch between the Daedric ruins at Zaintiraris and Tel Branora. Gods be with you. And thanks for the mazte.

What did Bethesda mean by this?

When did this meme start?
It feels like for years no one ever brought this book in the game until I started bringing it up in Stormcloak/Ulfric threads then shortly after I saw this pop up.
