What more proof do you need? While Venom is his own character, the Medic through Venom and thus through BB himself is you.
It's the TPSs way of putting you into the characters shoes through his relationship with Kaz, Revolver, and to a more personal level: Quiet. You undergo his pain and that made the ultimate reveal at the end that you were Venom that more impactful because throughout the game: you really felt like BB in Afganistan, so the game's overall betrayal was impact not only to you, but to (you) as in Venom himself.
This lead into MG1 and Venoms subsequent death was what felt so fucked up during the time of release and playthrough as it stood to establish that you as Venom were there since the beginning of it and all, and were there during the end (of the series to date) as a parallel to OG fans playing TPP as their final establishment in the franchise.
