rtx 2070
i dont plan to upgrade my pc for another 7-8 years so this should be okay for a while
Rx 570
Pretty okay for a poorfag
GTX 1060 6GB
Niggabyte card stutters for 5 seconds every hour though, really annoying
Rx 580. Came with bonus Re2 and DMC 5. Pretty good value I guess.
GTX 1080, more than happy with it for my 2K monitor and there isn't a game I have issues playing at high if not ultra.
Plus it handles the game dev shit i throw at it.
gtx 670...
Pic related. Previously had same model but 1050ti. Liked how silent and cool it was. 1660ti is pretty much the same except on heavy load fans were loud as fuck and I had to enable my case fans. Now everything is back to normal but I have to keep listening to case fans.
Rx 580! I got it really discounted because it was used for etherium mining but it still works great
7850, no reason to upgrade because there's no good pc games.
RTX 2060
why do you guys post stock photos?
1070
Thinking of this ASRock RVII for muh hackintosh purposes while I still have a chance, before Applel moves to ARM and completely fucks over people trying to use their software and not get jewed.
It's like a 2080 so I hope it lasts at least 5 years. Waiting for Black Friday or some shit like that to buy all my parts.
as opposed to what?
>why do you guys post easily googleable pictures instead of taking a Pic in your phone and then uploading it
Gee I dunno user
Sorry lemme disassemble my PC real quick
1080ti, bought it a couple months after release and it's been the best GPU I've ever owned.
Gtx 770
What card should i buy bros?
RTX 2080 Strix and Ryzen 3700x.
Everything running at 1440p/144hz, gaming at its finest tbhwyf.
shilling phoneposters will never understand
R9 280. I was hoping to upgrade but for some reason cards are more expensive than they were the last 3 times I got a 200 dollar GPU.
Go be stupid somewhere else
Is buying used cards a good idea? Was thinking of picking up a used 980ti they're pretty cheap here.
Gtx 760 2gb vram
I want to get new rtx but this boy still runs many games well at 1080p
I got a GTX 1080ti. It's been pretty great.
1070ti ftw2. Does 1440p 165hz pretty well and even light 4k depending on the game. Gonna try to ride it for a few more years.
980 Ti overclocked to 1500 mhz ,literally 0 reason to upgrade
here's your Hot nudes
you do realize that this is a card for content creators just with the "gaming" as a gimmick?
this card is really bad
Buying parts for a new pc tomorrow or the day after. Should i go 3600 2080 super or 3700x and 2070 super. Want to play older games at 4k60.
2080
Good enough for my monitor which is pretty fucking demanding.
new Consoles are gonna be as powerful as this in 2 years and devs are gonna need 2 more to fully master those graphics so you'll want to upgrade in 4
>you do realize that this is a card for content creators just with the "gaming" as a gimmick?
Which I don't mind because I'll be primarily editing video and playing games on the side. As long as it performs better on games at 1440 than a RX 590 (which was my first option) everything will be okay. I'm coming from console anyways so anything at all is an upgrade at this point.
GPUs have more uses for gaming
You haven't had issues with newer games having less support for older 700 series cards?
>he dropped and dented his card
my condolences. i'd be embarrassed to keep that on show in my case.
>3700x
lol nice bottleneck retard
Is there anything I should consider upgrading in the near future? Had this build since 2017.
Lads is it worth to upgrade my 1060 6gb to a 2060 super? Been planing to do it but im still unsure
I've noticed newer games can get shit framerates but I'm still playing many old and new games that are fine, so I have yet to do a change. Newer games with good optimization will run well
Which of these should I get for my new computer for 1440p and 144hz?
>3600 or 9700k
>5700xt or 2070s
I already budgeted out for the 9700k and 2070s but I heard the AMD options were just as good for my goals at a lower price.
Probably using i5 3470 and HD7950/R9 280 for last few weeks, they had a good run.
Upgrading to 3600 and probably 5700 XT, if non reference cards are reasonably priced in my shithole. I just want more quiet and cooler 5700 XT.
CPU upgrade will future proof your system a lot with like a 3600 or 3700x and your minimum fps would be better in CPU intensive games but it's also fine as it is. i'm using an old as fuck i7 with a 1070 and it manages just fine in the latest games with some at 120+ fps.
Sapphire RX580 8GB. It works as well as I expected it to, for a budget card.
budget bois Ryzen 5 + R580
the 1660 is better for sure and i nearly got it, but not quite enough to justify the extra £50-100 when i was shaving off as much money as possible. because poor and NEET.
pushing more into 1440p is all well and good, but those monitors are like another £300 so, its not really feasible on a budget. you can get a 144hz 1080 monitor for £130 now.
>new Consoles are gonna be as powerful as this in 2 years
ayyy lmaooo
They're going to be pretty capable, but I dont know if they'd be much different than the X1X minus having a better CPU. I still remember how Sony tried to parade the PS4 as some sort of "Supercharged PC" at launch and claimed it could handle Watch Dogs at 1080p 60fps.
Nothing, integrated right now. Just playing older games pre 2000. Wanted to build a 2080ti system but the RTX series is the worst gen shitvidia launched since the FX series back in 2003. Waiting to see what they shit out next year.
Consoles are probably going to be closer to an underclocked 1070 than a 2070. I can't wait for the official reveals tho.
970
Still running the memecard
I just bought a 2060 Super.
It's great!
Just bought it on release for my new PC, it's insane
I want to upgrade my 1060 6gb since it struggles with VR but people keep telling me to wait
Actually it's the XC Ultra Gaming with the fucking huge heatsink
1060 6gb and i7 7700k.
Mah nigga
>Finally died out two weeks ago.
Damn near 7 years of faithful service.
Me too user. FTW Edition reporting in
1070. Haven't found a game It cant play on high yet.
>newer games
There hasn't been any good pc games released in years user. 670 reporting in and no plans of upgrading yet.
>finally got new PC
>9400 + 1660ti
>finally I'm gonna play everything in silky smooth 60fps like a true PC gamer!
>witcher 3 stutters
>monster hunter stutters
>just cause 3 stutters
There isn't much of a bottleneck though jewtel fag
How much ram you have?
>1660ti
>1080p60fps on MHW
LOL
Are you using V-sync or capping the framerate to 60? Also in fairness Just Cause I hear runs pretty horribly.
Anyone else here has a gtx970 since 2015? Are you experiencing overheating issues lately like I am?
pls respond.
It works well for mhw, all i really play on pc. Had a good sale on it too
1080ti - it has ran anything I've thrown at it so far without question. Need a better monitor to really push it - it seems.
Right now? An ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470. I'm in hell.
Still running an Nvidia 970. Considering that I just bought an AMD 3700 cpu, I'm debating if I should finally upgrade.
16gb, 2666mhz I checked latency, not great not terrible.
It's actually enough for 60fps.
I tried many variants. For Witcher running it in windowed borderless made a huge difference for whatever reason. MHW and JC3 just keep doing slight stutters every now and then, annoys the shit out of me.
Turn hairworks off on witcher and it should be easy.
the reviews on newegg says there's coil whine. Is there any on yours?
I'm using a 970 but mine is fine. You're thermal throttling? I don't see why it should have overheating issues unless the fans are broken/disconnected or you for some reason need to reapply thermal paste to it.
>intel
lol nice 14nm+++++++++ and vulnerabilities retard
No.
I got a rog strix one, by the way.
GTX 1080TI One of the ones that pumps the hot air out of the case. Holy Hell when it's going full blast you could burn your fingers on the vent. I don't like that, but it seems to handle it just fine.
>vulnerabilities
Like what, actually being able to play emulators and getting the strongest performance of any CPU's?
oh shiieet. The reviews I checked was the EVGA card
Based 580 budget bros!
What resolution? For 1080p, go 1660/ti, for 1440p, 5700/xt or 2060s/2070s.
Whew.
Yes.
>not waiting for Ampere
lmao @ your life
Threw this into my SFF Optiplex. Thinking of getting a 1650 low profile.
Either choice is fine, just get whatever is cheaper.
Are you bothered by heat?
Got myself a 2080ti (to replace my dead HD7950), that I probably never will use to it's full potential, despite the 144Hz display.
Will soon get a ryzen 3700x to replace the old 4th gen i5
god bless that promo, got me RE2 and DMC5 for $30, i really fucked up by not getting MHW from nvidia fags
Thats odd, you should be more than fine. JC3's PC port is kind of lackluster so it's probably that, and I'm not sure if they fixed up MHW's unoptimized launch. Any other games where you're having this issue? Are you playing with uncapped framerates higher than your monitor's refresh rate?
1080ti on a 4770k
My cpu is showing its age though.
Going to do a new build from the ground up when the next gen GPUs come out
I've got a Gsync 2K 140hz monitor. It pushes the 1080ti. I have to remember to turn on vsync if I don't want the card running full blast. It can handle it but I can't stand having a card running that hot. I'm from the 50C is a chip running Hot Days.
I also get this, it sucks.
Reporting in
i bought a 2080ti an i7 9700k etc etc and its really good but i still regret having spend so much money on the PC now. Have it for like 3 month now
I got a GTX780 on my 4770K. What a great pairing. That computer was able to handle Low end VR with ease.
Currently still using a 4790k. Would I run into any bottlenecks with a 1080ti or 2080 at (for the moment) 1080p and later 1440p?
>9400
Found the problem. Threadlets need to get with the times, 8 threads is the bare minimum for a bearable computing experience.
evga 1050ti 4gb
in modern games? sure
I grabbed this off Ebay for $125.
I bought it for an SFF computer I had until recently, since it was the strongest card my PSU could handle at the time that also played nice with Linux. Then my motherboard got fried during some maintenance, and I decided to bite the bullet and build a PC from the spare parts I had and a CPU I had bought months prior.
Runs clean and pretty, though I haven't been taxing it anyway with my collection of old games and indies.
You could probably upgrade your ram and it would run better unless your mobo takes ddr3 then you should probably upgrade that and the cpu
>bought RTX2070
>later realized that I cucked myself out of decent choice of monitors because g-sync meme
>tfw about to cuck myself into oblivion with 1440p meme because 1080p/144hz/IPS/g-sync are fucking nonexistent
No, 60fps only. Didn't try many games yet and those are actually far from unplayable but shit is still happening. I even got new SSD just for games and expected a completely smooth expirience but I guess it's not that easy on PC.
This can't explain Witcher 3 though, that game is too old to have any problems with 6 cores.
You do know nvidia cards support freesync, right?
>have a 2k Ultrawide 120hz g-sync IPS panel Monitor
Feels fucking good lads
>Nvidia supports Freesync over Displayport
>Every decently priced Freesync monitor only has HDMI
Witcher 3 scales impressively well across all 16 threads on my r7 1700.
Upgraded from a 750ti,
Decided to drink the Amd Radeon
Flavor Aid.
I've got a 970 but I'm thinking about getting a new PC with either a 5700 XT or a 2070 Super. I'd rather get the former (if I ever can) and save a hundred bucks, what do you guys think?
No issues with my 970, but I do use EVGA precision while playing vr or certain high demand games.
And certain games require a lower voltage for some reason...like grim dawn or killing floor 2. If I don't Ill get a black screen while everythings running still.
Fucking annoying, but it was all fixed with the card monitor thing and slight adjustments to fanspeed thresholds and voltage through it.
Fuck off ampere retard see you in 2 years
upgraded last year from a 5770 to a rx580.
I'm gonna upgrade 970 to 5700 xt when i find non-blowers in stock because of freesync and I don't see the driver reliability on nvidia justifying that steep of a price difference, and the ancillary stuff like low latency modes/sharpening machine learning shit are on equal footing.
Does the fan blow air out the back or from out the fan?
Mobo?
the back
Aorus pro
Yeah no.
For PC stuff we are already approaching the limit where content quality is limited more by your art budget more than by the machine.
Outside of shit like more FX effect, shaders and whatever, but all of those can be disabled in the option menu.
Vega 56 playing at 1440p
@w@
It's complicated. I have an old i5 2500 + gtx950 machine with Windows 7 that I still use as my primary pc, but a week ago I bought a ryzen5 1600 + rx580 machine because it was so stupidly cheap that I would've been retarded not to buy it. I have Ubuntu on it and I've basically only been using it for rendering Blender projects. I'm not using it as my main machine because my Windows 7 machine has everything just how I like it.
tl:dr, still using my gtx950 as my main video game video card.
>tfw i have the budget for a gaming PC but dont have the knowledge to build one.
i'v seen tons of videos online on how to build it but i get totally lost when it comes to choosing parts. so many brands and models to choose from i dont know which one is most reliable and better. i just want something to play elder scrolls and fallout(because the console version sucks!) my budget is at least $1,000.
Building a new toaster, right now.
Not sure if I want a 590 or a 1660.
Virtual benchmarks put them really close, but AMD is till rather universally reviled and the 1660 has less VRAM.
I really want to try my hand at rendering and 3D animation, too so these things are important to me.
Cant choose.
Which one bros??
...
are you laffin? cuz thats just how the new amd blower cards actually look.
PC part picker is a good website to organize parts based on whats compatible.
And Youtube has good videos for pc building basics. Like this series:
Speaking of building a new PC, would you guys say 32GB ram is overkill for gaming? Ram isn't too expensive right now so I'm wondering if that would be a good investment for the next few years or if it's too early to bother with more than 16.
it would be a waste because by the time you will actually need more than 16 DDR5 will be the standard
stick with 16GB and focus on your other parts, GPU and CPU
Replaced the fans about a fortnight ago; otherwise has served me well.
Definitely overkill, only good to have that RAM if you need it for something else. 16GB is the standard now and we're not going past it for a bit.
>would you guys say 32GB ram is overkill for gaming?
Yes.
>fortnight ago
am I ready for classic wow?
Based American retard
You need at least two 2070's in SLI configuration to play Classic.
Get to it!
>can hear PSU whining in nearly every game
should have bought the 3070 when it came out next year then, instead of this gimmick experimental rtx shit gen
I upgraded to a 9900k from a 6700k, and if you're talking just about gaming then the only thing I would upgrade is your RAM. I can tell you for a FACT there is no gaming performance difference between a 9900k and a a 6700k, at least not with a 2080ti anyway, which is my card. The only game I ever saw hit cpu bottleneck on 6700k with MSI afterburner on was Rise of the tomb raider, and it happened on just one map with the camera pointing a very specific way, in other words you had to force it.
The 7700k is better than the 6700k. So you don't need a new gaming cpu any time soon. If you're after a faster cpu for apps and multitasking, then yes, hands down this thing will run rings around the 7700k, but if you're just gaming you're fine, and I'm qualified to answer that.
Save your money.
it's just coil whine, it's fine.
put a headset on.
Its a fine card user, don't mind the hater. Performance wise is somewhere around 2070-2070super. About similar to vega 56 oc'ed, stock vega 64
GTX 680 master race
3600 is plenty enough, go with it and 2080. A more balanced system. 3700x does nothing to performance in gaming compared to 3600. you need as much GPU beefiness for 4k meme gayming. Imho I would go 1440p/144hz if I were you. 4k monitors, unless huge (over 35 inches), provide no better image quality than a 1440p at 27 inch for example. Also, 144hz smoothness
What are the chances that the new Nvidia Super cards will get price drops around Black Friday? I'm hoping to get something soon, should I wait for that?
If the most graphically intensive game I play is Witcher 3 Wild Guy at max settings, will a 1660ti be good enough?
A GTX 1050ti. Definitely upgrading to a 2070 Super when I get a chance to switch over to Ryzen CPUs.
what's the best 2070S version that's not overpriced
I'm using an RX 580 8GB that I got for $50 back when it was around $300 due to Etherium mining. The GPU was dead due to it being used for mining but based XFX let me RMA it and sent over a brand new one.
RTX 2080 ti
Anyone with 3600/5700xt? I want to replace my 4690k/1060
So is freesync completely compatible with nvidia cards or do I lose something with them compared to using an amd card or getting a gsync monitor?
What card do I need for 1080 60 fps. Preferably for MHW and D2. My comp is shit and I need to upgrade
Only certain freesync monitors are compatible with gsync, there's a list somewhere on nvidia's site. my mg279q is incompatible with nvidia gpu's so jokes on them i'm getting a 5700xt
7970
Good thing I'm using a 43 inch 4k tv as my monitor then.
This
>free clip studio paint
That's awesome.
Clip Studio Paint uses the GPU?
I was under the impression that most drawing software aside from heavy stuff like Photoshop and Krita only lightly used the GPU. I've been working with lighter weight software so my stuff runs on almost anything I put it on.
Clip Studio has 3D models you can rotate/pose to use as reference for whatever it is you are drawing.
RX 580. yes i'm poor spit on me
>AMD is till rather universally reviled
that was always with their high end gpus and even now AMD is giving nvidia a run for their money and soon intel will be too
You guys say 32 GB of RAM is overkill, but by the time the next consoles come around, there will be more RAM munching. FFXV hardly runs on 8 GB RAM, and it chews through nearly all of 16 GB.
>tfw 770
get in my cuckshed's cuckshed
only do 32GB if you bought a single 16 stick and want to do dual channel other than that 32 is overkill for games AND emulation
It's more than enough.
A friend just straight up bought me this setup a month ago, nice 144/1440p monitor and all. He bought himself the same setup, albeit with a 240/1080p monitor and the 9900k. So far he seems pretty happy and I am in game heaven.
I want to go with AMD cause I like what they have to offer, but I dont think Maya or Blender support anything but their professional cards.
And buy support, I mean tested.
I like what their cards can do, though. And they are cheaper than Nvidia.
For what its worth, I am building an AMD machine, rather than an Intel one.
Go with whatever has high reviews, get an rtx 2060 or 2070. With PC parts if something is trash it gets bombarded with terrible reviews usually.
yes user let me pop into the future real quick and bring back a graphics card that doesn't exist yet to plug into my new computer when my old one is dying now
>970
when will the nightmare end
Funny how turning on v-sync makes it work less hard. Is that because of the monitor?
his framerate is probably going way over 140
GTX 950 for the past 4 years, I'm a poorfag zoomer.
Is this pc worth it, Yea Forums?
>i5 9600k @3.7Ghz
>Asus Strix Z370-i
>32GB (2x16GB) @3000Mhz
>Cooler Master MASTERLIQUID ML120L AIO
>Toshiba SSD 240GB
>Cooler Master MasterBox Lite case
>EVGA 650W PSU
It's $700, I also found a used RX 590 for $215 so about $900 and some change. Should I go for it? I compared the same build at the store where I was already gonna buy all my parts (because it already has third world tax added) and it comes at about $1120 new (for some reason the Z370-i is about $200 new?) I know I could get much cheaper stuff but the guy said he could install MacOS on it before shipping it and I was going to build a hackintosh anyways so the less compatibility issues I have due to my autism of ordering different parts, the better.
The plan down the line is to maybe get a better cooler, upgrade to an i7 9700K (or even an i9 if I can afford it) and a Radeon VII in the next 8 months to a year if the i5 and 590 can't cut it for video editing and some vidya.
What should I do? Please validate my autism.
how's it working out for you. 1080p med? 720p med? Also keep your head up you'll get their one day
if I were you instead of trying to go for a i9 I'd up my SSD capacity everything else is looking above and beyond good
I already have some spare drives I was going to use for my build
>The 240gb SSD it comes with for Mac
>Another 120gb SSD For Wangblows 10
>1TB HDD for video editing
>320gb HDD for whatever vidya I decide to download
Struggling really hard to decide if I want to go for a 2060 super or a 2070 super... I'm not sure the latter is needed for a 1080p 144hz monitor but it would be nice to have that almost 2080 for future-games, but also for those heavier games like the witcher 3 and the like. Can anyone help me out here? Is a 2060 super enough or is it just worth it to pay those 100-150€ extra for the 2070s?
>front intake fans are asphyxiated by useless glass for muh leds
It's useless. If you MUST have RGB autism, have a mesh front.
>If you MUST have RGB autism
I don't, it just comes preassembled like that for a decent(?) price. I could simply get another case if needed.
I keep wondering how long it will take people to realize AMD has drivers now, they're just Linux exclusive. Even for newer games DXVK on RadV (Linux exclusive Vulkan driver) is often within a few frames, if not faster than the Windows driver's D3D support, and for native Vulkan and OpenGL stuff like emulators its so much faster its not even a contest.
Only downside is that because the drivers are open and worked on by third parties like Valve they lag behind new hardware releases slightly. My Vega 56 works great, and older Polaris based hardware like the 480 / 590 are really well supported, but the newest 5700 cards are waiting for new releases of the Linux kernel and Mesa (crown project for RadV, RadeonSI, etc) to work easily out of the box.
Try to avoid any prebuilt/case with glass front panels. Or hit up and look into building your own, which is always a fun time.
Having under 500gb SSD is fucking sad. 1tb should be just fine. Some games are 100+ gigs these days. Nu-Hitman is massive, Eternal and 2077 are most likely going to be massive as well.
GTX 1060 6GB
>Or hit up and look into building your own
I was going to, but my budget was cut due to some IRL shit so I found this thing online. I just wanna know if it's a good price for what it comes with, couldn't care less about colors or the case, and if it really gets that hot I'll just buy a cheap $50 case that doesn't.
Also as I explained earlier, this is already compatible with MacOS according to the guy so that's why I'm interested.
>Having under 500gb SSD is fucking sad
Mate I've been living with 128gb on my macbook pro and a 500gb external drive for video editing since 2015. I think the four drives I listed will suffice.
>2077 are most likely going to be massive as well
But why do you assume I'm gonna be playing SJW trannyshit?
just got an aorus 1080 ti for $400. im enjoying it. i plan on getting a new 1440 high refresh rate monitor sometime soon.
I finally have around a thousand bucks saved up from months of humiliating wage slavery, are prebuilt PCs any good nowadays? My custom broke down about 6 months ago and I’ve been bored as fuck recently. Last time I tried to build my own PC, I failed miserably because I’m a retard.
Any recommendations? I know, I know, its taboo, please forgive my faggotry.
Monhun and especially JC3 are unoptimized as fuck. Dunno about the witcher.
I don't think I've ever seen a Freesync display without Displayport.
>Ryzen 5 2600X
>GTX 1080Ti Extreme
>16GB DDR4 2666 Ram
>Stuttering in lots of games. V-Sync on.
What's with the stuttering?
Not him but I bought a $250 window ac unit for my RTX 2080 lol. That card in Texas heat is a nightmare
>But why do you assume I'm gonna be playing SJW trannyshit?
To know how bad it actually is.
I want to upgrade from my Gtx 970, i don't really care about 4k, 1080p is enough for me, should i get a 1660ti or already Rtx 2060 or 70?
RTX to play Quake 2.
1080p med-high, I mostly play older vidya tho since there hasn't really been any recent triple A games that have interested me.
My vega bro
I have a 1660ti and regret not getting a 2060 for RTX, it could be too slow for RTX anyways so who knows
I just use a 1660 Ti to play on my 50 inch TV
I had a 2070 and a 2k/120 FPS but the difference I was noticing didn't really feel worth the $700-$800 I spent on them, so I just returned everything.
I'm happy with my comfy 1080p setup with my recliner and my TV
With GPUs the answer is always to get the best you can afford.
I don't have any stutter in MHW nor JC4 with a 1660ti and my cpu is a 4670k you have a problem somewhere either HD or ram
EVGA 1060 6gig. I should get something stronger because I can't max 1080p everything.
Not him but what's the curve for diminishing returns like?
I can afford a 2070 super but a bunch of people in this thread and /g/ say to just go with the cheaper 5700 xt.
That's about it, the 5700xt is peak on price/performance, the super while a bit better it is badly priced(although, not by much). It's still not a bad card, it's just when the diminishing returns starts.
what about cpu?
The value of the RX 5700XT is better in Cost Per Frame VS 2070 Super) - 4.00 USD at 1440p against 4,65 and 7.45 vs 8.18 at 4K
You forget about it until some shitty CPU-heavy poorly-optimized game comes out.

Is the 2060 worth it or should I try to find a used 1080 for cheaper?
based
I bought an Inno3D RTX 2070 super about a month ago. when I tried to waterblock it with an RTX 2080 waterblock from EK it wouldn't go on properly, the PCB where the memory chips are wouldn't contact against the heatsink and it looked like the PCB was bending in that area, the screws wouldn't go in / come out properly
so I thought id try to inject thermal paste into the gaping chasm, it didn't work very well, so I tried taking off the connector block of the waterblock, then I decided to just use the backplate to apply pressure to the PCB, pressing it towards the heatsink by jamming thermal pads in between. When I tried putting the connector block back on I must have overtigtened the screws because I heard a crack, when I connected it up it leaked out of that area. GG. So im back to using 780ti .
>9400
there's your problem, intel CPUs stutter like a mother fucker
>t. owned a 4690K and had stutter in a shit load of games
You're likely to get one with a shitty psu, mobo and most likely a gpu with shitty cooling. just learn to build one.
last time i built one it never functioned properly and it was a huge hassle. what about those sites where you can choose parts and have it put together? idk what parts to choose
Is it worth upgrading the 1080 right now, or should I wait another 3 or 4 years?
Wait for whatever the next generation is and get a $500 GPU
No way. You can wait around till some huge leap emerges, maybe nvidia's new 7nm architecture next year might be good.
2060. Which really isn't going to be enough. It's almost not enough right now. Especially when the xXboneXx does 4K 60 and next gen (and the ports) is around the corner. Shiiiiieeet
amazon.com
Look for anything around $100
Give it another year huh? Thanks. I'm pretty content with running the latest shit at 60 so i'll do it.
I run a top of the line 3900x with a rx560.
MSI RTX 2080 Duke. Busted a ton of double shifts during the holiday season to afford this, well worth it.
Why are almost all 1440p 144hz VA monitors curved?
Why isn't your PC watercooled?
>new Consoles are gonna be as powerful as this
????????????????????????????????????????
Go away waitfag
>VA
1080
What's wrong with it?
I heard I should avoid TN and go for VA or IPS.
what the fuck how
i played witcher 3 fine with a 4690 and 970
are you on a 5400rpm hdd
because there's no point
I haven’t had AMD in a while but the 5700xt May be the best purchase. I have a 2060 and the Ray tracing feels useless
1060 6gb
My only downside is my i5 3330
not him but VA's have bad response times unless you buy a super high end one and even then it will still be barely passable for gaming, that's what I was told anyway that may not be as true today
The only thing holding me back is the lack of support for emulation and very old games but otherwise they are the best purchase all around
1070ti
sorry for the shit tier cable management anons
i use a 750ti i can barely run league and i cant run overwatch i have $3000 saved but i only want to spend $500 on a new pc, is it worth buying a new pc? dont think mine is upgradeable
>powerful as the 2070
Zotac’s GTX 970 and got my $10 from that court case.
Decent for high-ultra settings.
better than an ex wife for sure
>wasting money on Turing
Big Navi and Ampere are going to make you fuckers seethe so much.
if you get a 5700xt make sure it's not the original blower version, that has heating problems so get one with proper fans on it
user, I'm seriously having doubts about all the money I spent on my 5700 purchase, please remind me why it was a good idea.
yes, make me seethe about something i dont know or care about
im gonna be playing the games i want and not giving a shit about anything else and thats all that matters
Radeon VII
I'm spending 1000 bucks on a mid high range pc user, for 500 you will get something that will be outdated by january.
r9 Fury Tri-X
Looking forward to a new build next year
i don't really play modern games i just want something that runs chrome and older games faster
how old?
I bought a 2060 a few months before supers were announced.
I hate everything and everything hates me.
witcher 3, league of zoomers that kinda shit, i don't really want to play new games on max, was going to go with this but i dont know if its good im a pc brainlet
not a bad build at all, it will be enough for your needs then.
Should I get CL14 3200mhz ram for a 3700x? will that be decent enough or should I pony up for CL16 3600mhz?
Aight Yea Forumsros should i go for Ryzen 2600 or Intel 9400f for my budget build? I was dead set on getting the Zen until i found out that intel released the 9400f yesterday and now im having doubt. I dont fucking OC at all since i live in a fucking oven most of the time so im conflicted.
XT is the better purchase, if you are having doubts then i'd like to know why.
anything after 3200 are nothing more than diminishing returns, you won't honesty notice the difference
What makes me sad is that most games are not bottlenecked by this but by my r5 2600.
Fucking end it bros.
I grew up with a very tight budget so it's natural for me to second guess every purchase I make no matter what quantity of money I spend :/
I see. If you don't mind, mind taking a look at my build so far? I just haven't decided on a GPU yet.
pcpartpicker.com
I might go for CL16 ram as it's almost 50% cheaper, I don't know if CL14 is worth the hike in price. Mostly want to do 1440p gaming in the near future.
BOTTLENECKING AND I DONT GIVE A FUCK.
Well, for the price range the 5700 is the best value.
It does have decent OC headroom, even on the reference cooler.
7850 currently. I'm looking to do an itx build with a 580. Can I get any itx case recommendations? The NZXT H200 looks good so far.
Tell me why I shouldn't pull the trigger
3.5 gig meme card. I need to get a new card and also a new CPU since my 4690k is barely meeting minimums on new games.
Blower coolers are pieces of shit.
>blower
2600 is not bottle necking shit
for me? its the 2080ti
Based. Mine has been running nonstop since 2012 even at really high temps and still kicking
Rtx 2080 Ti
>RGB
kys
It looks ok to me, if you're not limited by a budget and want an all purpose build I don't see much you would need to change.
You're so cool with your boring shit and noctua fans
Wasn't the blower in this thing supposed to be good enough for the 5700?
My budget is around 1.4k USD right now. So i'm a bit stripped on cash for a new GPU at this rate.
Come in stock already you piece of shit!
Blowers are always shit. The sapphire pulse is not much more expensive and much better, get that. Just good luck at trying to find it in stock.
>supposed to
Blowers are trash by design outside of really niche uses like tiny cases with no airflow.
That said, the 5700 and XT got blasted on all benchmarks for having really bad cooling. Any good talk of it was AMD pretending it's not a problem.
Im looking to upgrade. Is AMD still shit compared to nvidia+intel combo? I remember back in 2011 AMD was a dumpster fire
AMD cpus have gotten a lot better. But AMD GPU's are still inferior to Nvidia, but it's not quite as awful for them as it was in 2011.
GTX 980Ti
As long as micro LED monitors aren't real I'll be using it.
What program is that?
HWINFO
got the GPU for 520 on ebay right before the 20 series was released. still under warranty and no problems so far
If you need to cut a few corners then;
You could swap the x570 for a b450
a smaller ssd
a 3600 if you're going to be mostly gaming
replace the psu for a grey corsair 2017 or later.
just a few suggestions.
How's that ray tracing working out for you AMDboi
ryzen is running circles around intel right now
amd better cpu's, amd loses to high end gpu's, mid-high tier amd wins in price to performance, drivers still dodgy on releases and takes a while to get their shit together
I might drop it to a B450 if they came out with the MAX version of the tomahawk in the US already, I don't really wanna fuck around with Bios flashing. But the other stuff is decent advice to look into, thanks. I'm mostly looking to just game on this, maybe do light streaming but nothing major. I'm just worried about the 6 cores holding me back in a year or two with new games I guess.
most games don't really use more than 1 or 2 cores these days, so you'll be fine.
How soon is that likely to change, though?
3gb vram? wtf?
are you coping?
Speccy is shit.
>he doesn't own multiple GPUs from past builds
>he isn't buying a vega56 for $200 and then buying ampere next year
Can confirm. For whatever reason it thinks my 1080 has 4gb. Up until I updated it, it thought I had about a million AMD cpus, now it figured out I have a Ryzen 7, but can't tell what one.
the higher end AMD CPUs are barely better for gaming than the 3600 while costing much more. you should invest that in the GPU is you can.
>buying ayymd housefires
>ever
>building a new PC
>don't want to use Windows 10 or 8 but 7 is losing support and I'm probably too stupid to learn Linux
wat do I do guys
Windows Server 2016
Fully modular, option for manual updates, store can be easily uninstalled, literally designed to be kept running for months on end, telemetry and data reporting can be fully disabled if you don't install Microsoft antimalware.
they consistently have the better value GPUs. I can't think of a better value nvidia GPU unless I go back to the gtx460.
>they consistently have the better value GPUs
>value
so worst performance?
Pirate windows 10 ultimate or whatever the highest tier edition is because the basic shit doesn't even have proper admin controls.
Then spend about 30 minutes or a day if you don't know what you're doing gutting the system. Disable all automatic updates, Cortana, all data sharing with Microsoft, user account control, antivirus, automatic disk maintenance. You're a big boy and you decide when to update (never), when to virus scan (also never), and when to defrag (sometimes). Add classic shell.
Now you have a real OS that doesn't do stupid shit without your permission. You will likely halfway break your OS in that 'apps' no longer work (they're all shit and garbage anyway, you're better off without them), and god help you if you ever try to open the windows store somehow, because it'll try to undo everything you did.
That's what they said about the PS4 Pro and Xbone X but my PC that I built in 2014 still shits on them both.
check fan performance. replace thermal paste. improve case airflow. undervolt. up to you is you want to spend 30-60 bucks on an arctic cooler for it, you might want a new card at that point.
no, better performance with AMD finewine, unlike nvidia who progressively gimp their cards.
I have a 1660Ti but am really interested to see how good the new consoles ate. Now that AMD has their act together on CPUs, we might get some powerful and balanced machines from Sony and Microsoft. Probably at least 8GB for VRAM, mild ray-tracing, and around RX 5700 power.
I wouldn't hold my breath
1070 TI
>unlike nvidia who progressively gimp their cards.
oh boy this FUD again
>from past builds
that's a cool implication there, user
>he isn't buying a vega56 for $200 and then buying ampere next year
im not in the business of fashion carding my computer
all freesync monitors are compatible with all nvidia cards from 10 series upwards. i have that same monitor with a 1070 and it works fine. i even changed the freesync range from 90-144 to 50-144.
>Probably at least 8GB for VRAM, mild ray-tracing, and around RX 5700 power.
doubt
>So is freesync completely compatible with nvidia cards
yes
even better in some cases due to how nvidia handles colour so you get less banding than using an amd card on the same adaptive sync monitor
Power supply issues.
This monster. It has served me well for 4 years but it's getting hot as FUCK with my new 4K monitor
It's pointless to upgrade then.
980, serves me well, but i do need a fucking cpu upgrade, this i5 ivy bridge aint cutting it anymore
2700x + 2080ti can't even get 30fps in control what a shit game back to sieege I go
>buy 2060 Super so i can be like all my other friends with RTX cards
>no blue LEDs
feels bad man
I have never gotten a "silky smooth" framerate in any pc game ever. PC Gaming is a meme. Consoles is where its at.
That's because you're a pleb.
I also have that same card, can max anything and had no problems so far
>no blue LEDs
i got them on my msi 2060 super
Where does the water come from???
I got a 1660 and it works perfectly fine for me. Depends on your budget/preferences I guess
gamer girl bathtubs
Truth hurts.
>tfw I enjoy silky smooth 144fps in every game I play
It must hurt. Although consoles are getting better, I'm kinda impressed with my PS4 pro. But last gen really soured me on consoles, seeing the bullshit stuttering and horrific FPS they'd have killed almost all my faith in them.
>144fps
is it worth getting a 1080p 144hz monitor?
This 1070Ti, does what I need it to. I may upgrade with the RTX 3000 or 4000 series.
Don't fall for the refresh rate jew. Go for a higher screen size or resolution if you want to spend more money
Are there any good $300 ish 1440p 144hz monitors that support gsync?
AOC G2590PX 25" is $230 on amazon
>gsync
No but yes for the other requirements.
In my opinion, yes.
I've tried big huge resolution shit and honestly, it's not that great. It might be because my ass is blind but I genuinely see very literal difference going all the way from 1080p to 4k. When you're there hugging your face to the screen hunting pixels in a store you see it, but when you're playing and things are in motion I just don't see much difference. And actual larger monitors have all kinds of issues with many games.
speaking of old card
is 750Ti still applicable for todays games?
Yes. Refresh is more noticeable than resolution, to the point I'm fine with 800x600 if it means 160hz.
I got MHW but forgot to activate the key
My 670 ftw le (low end) plays all the games I like rock solid at 1080p, waiting for a bloodborne PC port to scrap my build and make a 4k monster, modern pc games bore me, the past is much more appealing.
my 580gtx died like 2 years ago and I've been using a 1050Ti. I'm legit surprised at how many modern games I can max out at 1080p
I am still stuck with a 970.
i am still using a gtx 860m which is pretty close so yeah, everything will play at console level or better except for assassin's creed odyssey, that shit drops below 20 sometimes
I got a 980ti for free from my uncle who was phasing out an older build, it is a bit overkill but it's never failed me yet
hell yeah. having a 144hz monitor doesn't mean you need to always try to achieve 144 fps. pretty much every single 144hz monitor on sale today aside from shitty old ones like that vg248qe which sell because of retards has adaptive sync which means it doesn't matter if you're at 1 fps or 144 fps you still get that smooth, tear free experience. it means you can ramp the settings up, turn of vsync and play with a fluctuating framerate and you won't even no its fluctuating because its so smooth. i'm playing control right now and this game has shit optimisation and i can barely hit 70 fps at medium but it still feels responsive as fuck because of the adaptive sync on my 144hz monitor.
My 1060 keeps stuttering, do you think it's worth "upgrading" to a 590 now that they're cheap and available?
I can easily sell my card for at least $100 and a new 590 is only $180
With the way things are going 980Ti will last at least another 3 years.
590 won't be enough. Get a 5700/xt
>My 1060 keeps stuttering
sound more like a ram or cpu problem. gpu shouldn't stutter like that.
it could be your cpu, what games are stuttering?
I've RMA'd the CPU, so unless I'm extremely unlucky that's not it. Every game stutters. Whenever a game streams in new stuff, even in lightweight games, it jutters, and once every hour or so, even if I'm not playing a game, the computer will lock up and stutter for about 5 seconds
I've been thinking about that too but I don't want to spend a lot of money right now
Just got a 2070 today for $295. Pretty slick so far.
that sounds like a ram issue. you're running out of system ram and you might have a ram leak. a gpu shouldn't cause your pc to lock up like that it's definitely something else within your system
download speccy and post a screenshot
still runs everything great.
I've done memtest it should be fine, and I'm not maxing out the ram. Like I said, I don't need to be running a game at all, ANYTHING causes it to stutter. I've googled it and apparently Nvidia's drivers can cause it
Also fuck speccy
Built my PC last month
>RTX 2060
>Ryzen 5 2600x
I'm not sure how long it'll last though
I wanted to die when I used my VA for first time with all the ghosting or smearing w/e is called, but after touching the response time and black equalizer settings it looks great
Bought the 2060 on launch day because I needed an upgrade from my old 750. Also upgraded from FX to Ryzen at the same time. It's a pretty nice card, handles everything I throw at it with no issue so I'm happy with it. I probably would've gone with the 5700XT if it came out a little earlier but the 2060 should be fine for me for years.
did you find that ram in the trashcan? those timings are fucking horrible
>8gb
yes you are running out of ram. all modern AAA games use more than 8gb. when you start running out of ram windows automatically moves background apps to the page file i.e. a small partition on your hard drive and it causes streaming bottlenecks and makes games freeze.
1080Ti Chad reporting in
Fuck RTX.
legit never seen such bad ddr4 timings in my life. actually i've never seen such bad timings at all.
I already said it happens in old games and outside of games too
>those timings
Nigga what are you doing??
What the fuck do you want I didn't build the RAM myself
if its outside of games it literally has nothing to do with the GPU so i don't know how you came to that conclusion. restart your PC, go into the bios and activate XMP.
XMP isn't supported
wtf do you mean XMP isn't supported. how garbage is your PC?
This DESU. The next big leap in graphics will be when we have FULLY ray traced games, which contrary to popular belief, we don't yet other than the Quake 2 remaster. Most games that claim they use RTX only use it for puddle reflections or some small potatoes shit like that. A fully path traced AAA game will be a major jump in graphical quality, but until then we're stuck with the same convoluted graphics pipeline that means only big budget games can afford anything approaching realistic lighting.
The bios have a big buton for xmp that says it isn't supported. I've tried before
Any poorfags in here? I want a Ryzen 3600, but I don't have money for a decent motherboard like the b450 tomahawk. Will it explode with a shittier one?
Do you think the rtx 2070 super prices will drop in one month? Now the cheapest still go for 600 € and the most low tier ones for 550-ish € with a discount.
no, any b450 will run fine with that chip but you need to update the bios so make sure the board has a sticker that says ryzen 3000 ready or that the store does the bios update for you
Is the 3600 really the best cpu you can get for gaming right now, or is it just a good value?
your problem is clearly a ram issue. you don't have enough ram and your timings are absolutely fucking horrible and it's no wonder your PC is shitting itself. update your bios from the motherboard manufacturers website. if it's a ryzen platform they have had loads of issues with bios so it's essential to update to the latest revision. all it takes is a USB.
>Do you think the rtx 2070 super prices will drop in one month?
no, if anything they'll stay the same for a while
best would be the i9 9900k wouldn't it be?
3600 is best value, ryzen is really close but 9900k is the best performance for gaming
the store does make the update for me, I just worry about temperatures and stuff.
>just bought a RTX 2060 Super
feels great brah
Just a 1060 6GB.
its a joke
2060, really a great product for my budget, it's almost a 1080 for half the price
I always heard that the 9900k is a waste for gaming.
still using mine as well. trying to keep myself from upgrading.
>I always heard that the 9900k is a waste for gaming.
unless you have 2080ti and a 4k monitor it is
I use rgb on my card but i set it to performance so I can see how hard the cards working
i hope you enjoy it
being able to actually play games without stuttering or at the lowest graphics settings with my 2070 is like a dream come true and i dont regret my decision
i do regret installing the damn cooler for my cpu backwards though, like an idiot
Just ordered a 1070ti, I was strongly considering RTX cards but comments from just weeks ago and a few guys I talked to who'd had them said they were still suffering severe issues. Decided to hold off on them. Since they're generally cheaper for their performance I can always get one another time, but I figured I'd play safe for now and not risk getting a bricked card.
It's a good card, just overpriced. If you HAVE to get it, you wont really be disappointed, but if you don't have to, get the 5700xt instead.
I5-9400f or ryzen 5 2600?
Planning on building my first real pc.
I also plan on high end emulation like yuzu.
Pairing it up with a gtx 1660ti btw
1660ti and i5 9400f
Brah how's it? Been meaning on getting this build sometime this year as well since it kinda fit with my budget. Is it okay for 1080p gaming?
I have a GTX 1070 Ti but I'm curious about raytracing, can I run an RTX card along with it or would that cause issues?
if you have a card as powerful as a 1070 ti already it's pointless to get current gen RTX cards as their ray tracing capabilities are almost beta test tier. you can use RTX on your 1070 ti but it'll run like garbage but you can still turn it on to see how it looks. wait for the next gen nvidia 7nm cards if you want playable RTX because those cards will not only be faster but also much cheaper and will have more RTX cores.
rx 550 chad choice
Upgrade to XP x64.
>caring if microsoft "supports" an OS or not
GTX 1060 6GB, have thought about upgrading to a 2070 super.
Don't feel bad. That CPU and GPU had a good run. It's time for a full upgrade, now.
Lol I got my 1060 just this year. Couldn't afford better and I had been putting off a new build for years. I honestly don't regret it, since the 1060 has given me so much fun.
You're a fool to consider paying the rtx tax though. A grand total of 5 (literally five I'm not memeing) games have raytracing features and none of them do anything noticable.
GTX 1070. Suits me fine at 1440p/60fps+
MSI 980ti.
it's still working for now.
Some shit fuck card that needs to be burned. Is a 1660 good enough for 60fps/1080? Not trying to go for anything fancy. Just want to run shit at max and at 60
>i7 7700k
>32gb ram
>gtx1080ti
am I good?
>cheaper
(X) Doubt
hell yeah
Just ordered a rtx 2070 super, I hope it's alright for 144hz.
Is 144hz even worth it?
9700k
gtx 1070
ryzen 7 1700
R9290
>streamer fags
144hz is pure sex
>tfw jew vidia charging 50% more for the RTX meme while only delivering 20% more performance
Rtx 2080
the die sizes are fucking huge and big die sizes are super expensive because of low yields. these RTX cards are still on what is essentially 16nm which debuted with the 10 series nearly 4 years ago now. amd is on the latest 7nm which is supposedly cheaper right now because yields are supposed to be good and their chip is small anyway so cost is lowered and it's why they can afford to price their cards so competitively.
what's concerning is the 7nm process is supposed to bring 25%+ efficiency and power consumption gains over 16/14nm yet amd is still barely matching nvidias 16nm turing cards which also have power hungry RTX cores. i believe nvidia will completely decimate AMD with their own 7nm cards unless AMD has something hidden to be released next year (which is doubtful).
I'm buying this and the RTX 2080ti i don't give a fuck anymore.
2080 is my sweet spot.It runs 1440p smoothly and the DLSS can help make 4K a smooth experience. You've got 1080p solid performance if you want ray tracing as well. It's well rounded and DLSS is a huge plus very games that support it.
I don't see a huge need to upgrade because I'm expecting graphical fidelity to stay as they on consoles because of their struggles to deal with running 4K games smoothly/
Gonna get me an rtx 2080 , we'll reach the peak of gaming in 2020 , doubt I'll need to upgrade my shit after 2020 .
i got a 1070 because i dont play the trash you fags play
even that is overkill
It's good enough for that. Actually it's good enough for 1440p on many modern titles, even.
>32gb ram
HAAAAAA! Were you future proofing for 2025 in 2015? HAHA FUCK ME. By the time games need 32gb they sure as hell won't be optimised for DDR3 ram. Goddamn fucking LOL.
Just niggaVidia things.
Better buy AMD next time kiddo
Got an RTX 2080 but it's fucking shit because I lost my job before I could buy a new monitor to make the 2080 actually worth it. Right now I'm stuck with a shitty AOC 1080p60hz VA monitor, when I could be running a TN/IPS at 1440p144hz with G-Gsync/Freesync.
actually I'm using DDR4 ram
>buying shit that burns your house down
No, quad cores are on their way out. You got hosed. Sorry, user.
>7700k
>2015
>DDR3
You're an idiot.
RTX 2080TI, it's alright, running everything on max without a second tought brings a certain comfy feel.
No one cares man. Ddr5 is next year and it's twice as fast as DDR4. 4800mhz is the lowest frequency it will support. Some kidlet who gets 16gb brand new will be running every game faster than your 32gbs of DDR4. "future proofing". What a joke.
I'm sure it makes up for the uncomfy feel of being ripped off.
Ampere is next year, faggots
Bad choice. Only games you will be playing at 144 fps are esport shooter.
You can achieve that with a much cheaper GPU.
If you want 144 fps in actual games, well, wait for next gen GPUs.
Who hurt you?
And 16gbb of ddr5 will also be more expensive then 32gb of ddr4.
Surprise!
Huh, I got my 2080TI along with a HD monitor, didn't feel the need to go any higher, monitors are bigger than I need them and from what I understand we're not yet at the point where 4k can be run at 120+ fps, I cap fps regardless to give my PC an easier time, since I wanna take care of it, perfectly fine with running everything at 1080p 60fps Ultra settings, for the next 4-5 years hopefully.
How do you guys go with temperatures? I’ve been a waitfag all my life and have decided to bite the bullet and just get something affordable. I want to start out with the midrange AMD cards, but I’ve heard they overheat like crazy. Any experience?
Sure does, i mean, If I felt ripped off.
>buying gigglebytes cards
>ever
you have no one else to blame but yourself.
literally never buy anything else than EVGA for nvidia cards, tho MSI is fine too.
sitting on my MSI GTX 1070 since 3 years, it's fine for 1440p 60Hz. card is fine, my monitor is shit tho. still won't upgrade until high Hz 4k gayman is a thing, propably in 2 years time.
too bad there were literally no Vega56 on the market when i needed a new card. that fucking AMD aged like the finest wine ever.
Sapphire RX Vega 64
>Intcel + Novideo combo
If money was an issue when it came to graphics cards, I suppose it would be an uncomfy feel, but I saved up specifically for it, and am perfectly fine with my purchase so far.
Since that would be a TN panel, no of course it wouldn't be worth it.
>not waiting for RDNA2 cards with 7nm EUV process to hit another 20% IPC increase
you are like a little baby
The "AMD cards run hot" is a 2013 meme. My Vega64 has never gone above 70 even after several hours of gaming
>TN got shitty ass colours
>IPC most likely HEAVY backlight bleeding (like mine)
>VA crap GtG time
pick your poison and be quiet.
dude, unironically push the power cable of your card right in. theres a 2-pin NOT fully inside the card. i figured to have the same problem when my PC often crashed while gaming and peak loads.
really, take your time and fix that so it won't be an issue
>league of zoomers
league is SO fucking old, its rather a Boomer game now.
Let's face the facts here. 32gb was overkill then and it's overkill now. A person who got 16gb then is someone who knew how to future proof, because they're sitting pretty now and still will be for a while yet. By the time 32gb has even approached "standard amount", the games that need it will be wanting it at ddr5 speeds.
>Should I get CL14 3200mhz ram for a 3700x?
the third gen Ryzen (3xxx) does not scale as good as older gens (1xxx & 2xxx). you won't need the tightest timing, you'll get a FPS boost but not so hard as previously. check some youtube videos about RAM scaling for Ryzen 3xxx series.
This absolute beast.
Upgrading to a 5700 or better pretty soon.
tis THICC boi looks just amazing
Don't buy stock cards fucktard. Buy aftermarket cards from Sapphire or some shit.
I play a lot of Japanese games/ports and found out almost none support 144. And my eyes are so retarded they can barely tell the difference between rock solid 60 and 100+. Unless it's a faster game like nuDoom which looks FUCKING INSANE at 144. Can't wait for Doom Eternal.
So yeah, it depends on what you play and how stupid your eyeballs are. I still don't regret getting a 144hz monitor but I think I'm going for resolution next time, that is something my monkey brain can see and my jap games can actually take use of.
>Just supersample that shit, bro!
Tried it, but it's not the same as a real 1440 or 4k monitor.
> 1080p monitor
i enjoy the FPS.
Stop trying to defend your AYYMD HOUSEFIRES
>buy 399$ card
>outmatched by a 329$ card in every game besides Nvidia titles
cuckshed residents arrived
I still use an RX 480 from 2016 when they first came out. Serves me well to this day for full HD gayming.
My friend recently bought an RTX 2080 (that's it. no TI, no super). For 900€. I told him he was getting ripped of but he wouldn't believe me. I'm pretty sure you can get better cards for less money. Personally I'm probably gonna jump on the 5800 XT train, as I don't plan to upgrade from 1080p anytime soon
bring back memories and feelings
I'm not.
Everybody knows stock GPU's have shit cooling.
That's why you buy aftermarket ones and that's why I'm telling people to do so to avoid them fucking themselves over.
>outmatched by a 329$
but thats false
AMD never ever ran near nvidias infamous GTX480
>wasting money on Big navi or ampere
the next iteration of the thing that comes after that is going to make you seethe so much
hey look you can apply it to literally every fucking generation!
yeah that was bad
problem is AMD is in a nuclear state of power consumption since a decade.
Radeon r290
Bought a returned GTX 980 month of release while all the tards said not to buy the most expensive gpu because you can’t future proof...
Still play all my games later at 2k 60fps and its been like what 6 years since release
AMD chads it's our time to shine now. I know this is a PC thread but obviously devs and publishers are controlled by the console market and next gen consoles all use AMD hardware, so I expect a lot of optimized games for team Red
i barely know shit about my pc, what should i upgrade
>AMD chads it's our time to shine now
thats a routine by now. never happened Still
Holy fuck. You guys have gotten with the times.
All i see are 2070, 2080, 1080 , while i still have a 750 ti.
Does no one still have a card older than 2015?
Am i the only poorfag in this thread?
damn that's mighty nice of him. me and my gaming buddy gift each other games from time to time but not expensive hardware like that. must be a great feeling to expect a package like this in the mail and do some co-op gaming right after
Get a 144Hz monitor.
Faster CPU since that's botlenecking your card.
Probably faster RAM as well. Also that MOBO is going to blow up in a few months time.
>Am i the only poorfag in this thread?
not a poorfag, just a neanderthal-tier sub-human.
CPU. Get a cheap 2600X or something
I got a GTX 1080. Not gonna get anything else for at least 4-6 years
If you bought something along the lines of a 290 or 980 at the time there was really no point in upgrading.
The tards who bought a 20xx fell for the RTX meme.
thank you user
whats wrong with my mobo user?
you could get an rx580 pulse for like 60$ from amazon a month ago, you have no excuse
>R5 1400
>2060S
you should rather kys yourself right now
TITAN X (maxwell)
>new 5700 XT gets released
>shits all over Nvidia in terms of bang for the buck
>Nvidia releases a new patch a few days later
>"Massive performance gains enabled!"
Hmm very suspicious, why did nvidia engineers JUST found some way to improve their cards performances? No upgrade required, just some driver tweaks? How very convinient to be able to enable more power just in time as AMD is on the rise with their newest hardware.
Is Nvidia artifically holding back their cards with software restrictions or what?
Get win10 LTSC, it's windows 10 but actually usable, i.e you can fully disable telemetry and it doesn't come with the windows store or the shitty UWP calculator, image viewer, edge, candy crush and the like. It also only gets security updates, so you won't be beta testing half-baked features and updates won't mess your shit up.
32GB is definitely worth it if you use your PC for work
Retard.
mad?
I don't give a shit about RTX, I just want a slightly cheaper 1080 TI and making sure I play everything at 144 FPS.
>needing RTX or 16 series for scaling pixel games
Fuck off.
micro-star isn't the most reliable brand.
I say if you can avoid upgrading until nvidia releases their next generation of cards, then do that. The RTX cards are overpriced and not worth it.
Get a 1660ti if you must.
>Get a 1660ti if you must.
if you are that cheap go AMD
BUTTMAD AYYMDPOORFAGS WITH NO INTEGER SCALING AND NO DRIVERS DETECTED
>buy this new GPU goy! It is the only card on the market with raytracing capability!
>*makes raytracing available on GTX cards a few months later*
It wouldn’t be surprising if they did
Suuuuuure it is. Face it. 99.9999% you never used more than 9gb of ram in the last 10 years.
thank you for the help user, what should i upgrade my mobo to?
How is it suspicious exactly? It makes sense for drivers to get better over time and make more efficient use of the hardware. Just look at how well a lot of amd cards have aged now that their drivers are actually half decent. People call it FineWine, i don't see why nvidia couldn't improve their performance over time if amd can.
I have a 1070, moron. That should be good enough for this scaling shit.
Daily reminder you should stop kvetching.
>that cheap
>1660ti costs $400 AUD
Kill me
Yes. At your lack of budgeting sense. Work with your monitor. You wasted so much money.
Ignore that user. Everything is ok apart from the low end CPU. A cheap mid range Ryzen like a 2600X or 2700 will be a good upgrade
Same here. Still a solid card. Just need to upgrade to Ryzen.
What recommendation do you have that's better value than a 1660ti while still providing acceptable stopgap performance.
didn't i said i enjoy the fps ? i know its overkill, but 144 fps/hz is a pleasure
It's still your best option in the midrange. Raytracing never looks good enough to justify the extra price.
>5700 amd
seriously im a buy nvidia fag but this shit is there
Hey faggot, even Intel only supports integer scaling on Gen11 GPUs, not Gen 9.5 that is widely available
software.intel.com
old.reddit.com
Not much new really, 1660ti is the best option in its price range, but if you're willing to spend a bit more, something like a 5700 will give better performance and more memory than you'll get with the similarly priced 2060.
I'll try it. Thanks user!
You're a tard for being an nvidia shill. Buy what's best atm you faggot. AMD is just blowing nvidia and intel out of the park now. It is what it is, its been a decade since I bought shit from them. RTX is a meme unless you have the 2080super/ti. If you wanna pay double or triple for a card to play with RTX ON at 720p, be my guest lmao.
Currently running i5-2500K & 970, but my Ryzen 5 3600 + 16gb 3400 CL16 arrived in the mail a couple days ago and my mobo should arrive on Friday according to Amazon. God I'm so ready to play literally anything that came out post 2014 without constantly being at 100% CPU usage.
Are 1070s still worth it at ~$200? I've been keeping an eye on used examples around me and most are in that area. One was $180 and negotiable, I almost jumped on it but I would've had to postpone the 3600 and the 2500K needs to be replaced way worse than the 970 does. I've also seen RX 580s as low as $100, I could grab one of those almost immediately but I feel like if 1070s are still going strong it's better to save up an extra few weeks for one.
zotac 1060. If I get the job I'm hoping for in 2020 I'll probably do this in 2021
Sapphire Vega 64
Pretty good card
AYYMD HOUSEFIRES isn't blowing anyone out of the park
Nvidia is faster and support forward thinking features like real time ray tracing, variable rate shading
Poovi doesn't support ANY of those features
I’m still tossing up between an RX580 and GTX1660Ti, I like the lower wattage required for team green but AMD is way more affordable. I’m not overly interested in most AAA titles aside from something like CP2077 or the forza/dirt games and the only newish stuff I play are RTS/4x games where a high end GPU isn’t as important.
Any tips?
>AMD is just blowing nvidia and intel out of the park now
seriously, how someone with a little bit of common sense can say that. i know AMD is a cult like scientology, but not on Yea Forums
Yeah, you can't go wrong with a 1070 for 200. It has similar performance to a 1660ti and has more memory. It's a great card if you want to play at 1440p, or even 4k in older games but if you only aim for 1080p, it's overkill and a 580 would make more sense
I use all of it on a daily basis for work so you're wrong, kid.
>GTX1660Ti
go for it, 580 is a dead card.
>for work
what the fuck are you doing here?
>he works on his home computer
What's your hourly rate? Or are you doing it for free?
You can get 144fps with it on a 1440p monitor too.....
They're not supporting ray tracing, they have their own RTX shitto. Real ray tracing will come next gen or the one after, with SOFTWARE ray tracing instead of this performance gimp shit. Get a grip jewboy
Out of all these features, variable rate shading is the only good one, as it actually improves performance with a negligible hit to image quality.
>RX580 is dead
Even for only 1080p?
my screen is relatively new ( 2-3 years) , maybe i'll upgrade for 1440 32" in a near future.
One thing I forgot to mention, I'm running 3 displays and I feel like it definitely has a performance impact with my 970. I originally bought this 970 used to replace my R9 290 that was frequently artifacting and noticed a performance decrease, and I can only guess that might be the combination of the 3 displays and the 970's infamous VRAM woes. Logically I don't see how the other 2 displays would affect performance considering I still only render games on the primary display (second monitor is just Discord, 3rd display is TV) but I guess even at idle they still use up some amount of memory.
My point being, I feel like I should opt for whichever handles multiple displays better between the 580 and 1070, and I assume that would be the latter.
its just a rehash technology
Get a vega 56 pulse, its 200 bucks and its better than both of those.
>vega 56
enjoy your amazonian fire.
I almost want to say somethings fucked up with your pc, im running a 980 GTX with 7700k and I go well above 60 on MHW cant say the same for the other two, haven't played.
I don't work by hour. Currently I'm charging 500$ for a finished assignment which can take me anything between 2-6 hours
You can find decent 1440p/144hz monitors (with a TN panel) at around $300 mark. I got a Dell S2719DGF, I couldn't be happier.
dont blame the PC blame the parts.
retard
i know , but my 1080p is good for me, im sure a 1440 will blew my eyes, but im not in a mood of upgrading my screen right now.
Its not a reference card, brainlet. There's always one nvidia shilling faggot in every thread. Cringe.
My 1070 handles my main 4k monitor with freesync and my secondary 1080p monitor just fine. I only used 2 1080p screens when i used an rx 480 before that, but didn't have issues either, so i guess both cards handle multiple display well.
Really performance should be your only concern when choosing between the two, just get whichever runs games at the resolution and framerate you want.
>one nvidia shilling faggot in every thread. Cringe
it is a card thread , what do you expect basedboy
4770k 760 master race
Fair enough. I had a 27 incher in 1080, its my secondary screen now. Its worth the money if you change your mind, especially with that card. You're probably gimping the fps of it at that resolution, creating a bottleneck in your CPU. I'm fairly certain that increasing the resolution to 1440p would barely decrease your fps if at all.
Is 1080p grainy and pixilated at 27 inches?
Strange, I rock an EVGA 1060 and it's been rock solid for about 2 years now
my CPU is becoming litterally shit tier i have a 3770K not OC, i will upgrade all in one shot.
Cyberpunk will be the kick, if i cant maintain 60fps, all will gone to dust execpt my 2080
If you're not a complete retard every new graphics card you buy is the best GPU you've ever owned.
That's one of your HDDs failing.
nah
Tfw good thread is dying.
Bump limits are so cruel sometimes.
no. but have a card that support heavy anti-aliasing.
Can't wait for Nvidia 7nm GPUs, it will most likely support modern hardware features
anandtech.com
anandtech.com
No, it looks fine. It's not especially sharp but that's about it.
There is literally nothing wrong with Zotac don't (You) me
Still the 2014 meme card itself, gtx 970 4gb (3.5gb)
Always ignore AYYMD HOUSEFIRES & AYYMDPOORFAGS, they're losing badly every day in performance, power efficiency and hardware features support
>5 years
5 shekels have been deposited into you goyvidia account.
I'd consider my HD6950 the best GPU I've ever owned honestly. The R9 290 I replaced it with started suffering from artifacts just after it was out of the RMA period and by the time I replaced it I was pretty much guaranteed to artifact in any game I played. I replaced it with a 970 which cured the artifacting but performed worse than my 290 in pretty much everything I played.
That 6950 was a fucking champ, though. It was only the 1gb model but even in 2014 it was still handling everything I threw at it without breaking a sweat. I only replaced it with that 290 because I worked a contracting job with one hell of a big paycheck and true to my frivolous retarded NEET nature I decided to upgrade my GPU even though I really had no reason to.
Compared to my 27 inch 1440p screen next to it, very grainy @ about 30-40 inches away from my eyes. I didn't really notice it before as I was just used to it.
I have it and I was so pissed by the meme that I left it in its box and bought an AMD card. Still haven't sold it. It will always be my $500 lesson on not trusting nvidia.
Yea your CPU is definitely a huge bottleneck in your system, as the GPU heavily replies on the CPU to get the frames to render. Best way to move that bottleneck away from it is to increase resolution and turn on as much shit as you can, but still the 2080 is just so far away that nothing really helps to remove in entirely except upgrade :(
Not even worth the effort to sell it now. You could maybe get $80 if you were willing to hold out long enough and reject hagglers, but if you wanted a quick sale price you'd be getting $60 if you were lucky. At that point I'd keep it just to have a backup GPU in case the one you're currently using fails.
This faggot spends more time screetching about AMD instead of using his gimped jewvidia to play. Lmao.
>BUTTMAD AYYMDPOORFAGS WITH NO GPUS & NO DRIVERS DETECTED
5 POO IN LOOS HAVE BEEN DEPOSITED INTO YOUR AYYMD HOUSEFIRES ACCOUNT
It's not like GPUs are essential to running a computer, anyway. If my current one failed I could just pull it out. Not much I can do with a 970 besides playing old games. New games love their VRAM.
you're true, my 2080 is just a 60% load in heavy game in 1080 its a waste ive known that from the star. Sure.
> stop trying to force me upgrading
Ryzen CPUs don't have integrated graphics, so I basically have to keep a backup GPU just in case. That said, though, I'm and I still have my 290 as my backup. Once I replace my 970 I'll probably turn around and sell it for the aforementioned $60 quick sale price. I bought it 2 years ago for $120 so that'd still be a 50% return on investment, which is pretty fucking good for a 5 year old GPU.
Anyway, if it makes you feel any better, opting for the AMD replacement was the right call. Artifacting aside my 290 was superior to my 970 in every way and if I had been able to RMA it I probably wouldn't even want to replace it yet. I definitely want to replace the 970 though.
based Sapphire RX580 8 GB bro
>so I basically have to keep a backup GPU just in case
who hasn't ?
