It's the dream of all corporations to remove customers as a factor. Plenty of large, unavoidable industries function entirely outside the infulence of customers thanks to governments. That's the wet dream of every SJW, just to make their SJW propaganda and virtue signal, without having to worry about pesky things like "who'll even buy this" or the quality of the product. Either way this is a non issue. Videogames are funded the day they begin development by investors and the publisher. They're not funded as a service by potential customers. That means even if you're selling a game at 1 dollar you are making a profit and if those margins were really a big deal you can just increase the price as mentioned above and see which platform your customers are more likely to pick.

The ubisoft store, uplay site, the uplay launcher program and god knows what other retarded shit account sites they have are all awful, confusing to use and utter shit.
I have never spent money on a ubisoft product because of this and I never will

All the people who complain about the 30% cut are fucking retarded. It's not 30%. Steam pays for the VAT wherever you are, and doesn't charge it to you as the customer.

So in my case, the VAT is straight up 15%. On the sale price. So Steam's cut for a 50$ game is 15$, but they have to pay 7,50$ in taxes.

And because Steam does this, it's never worth it for me to buy anywhere else that does charge me VAT on top of the price. Even when they have 10% off vs Steam, I'm still paying more due to VAT.

Steam also provides service for all the games sold on third parties like Humble Bundle, Green Man Gaming, etc...

Epic can shit talk all they want, but they do none of these things. And when you add this shit up, or just the VAT thing, you realize their deal isn't that good.

I just know that my provincial gov forces EVERY online retailer, even steal, to charge their customers the 15% (Or our equivalent, the TPS&TVQ). For years, the internet was always cheaper to buy from, even with shipping and customs because we'd dodge this 15%. But not anymore. If I try to buy a game on the Epic Game Store, I'll have to pay that 15% over their price.
