Church route is pretty much that. You decide to be the 5th lord, technically 4th now, because Rhea is out, and the other three lord houses ends ruining the continent due to Byleth not reining any of them in, with Dimitri dying, Claude missing, and Byleth ending up killing a weakened Edelgard after the three way war. Even Rhea dies. So that only leaves Byleth as the sole ruler.

Rhea was exterminated and the church reformed. Fódlan thrived as one single empire and the slitherers were dealt with by Hubert and company once they were no longer needed. Also the route which didn't end up with the kingdom and alliance devastated by the war.
Crests lose their influence and so do nobility. High rank positions are given to those who work hard to obtain them instead of being "hand-me-downs" like before.

Also Byleth goes to enjoy a quiet human life with their spouse instead of being the archbishop of fuck mcfaggotry immortality.
The only stuff they'd have to deal with are kingdom and alliance rebels who would want to gain independence again but overall her route ends in prosperity (like all other routes anyway)

Because Rhea had to be the final boss. In a story context, and because of Hubert's paralogue, it doesn't make sense for them to take out the slithers before the war was over. Rhea needed to be slayed first.

Yes, they are, but in BE the main villain is Rhea, and the route's culmination is her being slayed and Byleth losing her goddess powers. It was pretty much "the end" with the way they wrote it.

They could have altered Hubert's paralogue and the story a bit to add a few maps before the end where Arundel is confronted for the nuking and they go all out to eliminate them. But yes, with the way the story was written in BE, there was no way to add them being getting taken care of.

They could have made a superboss different from the Church route. Currently, you fight Rhea twice as a final boss, Edelgard once and Nemesis once.
Arendel should have been the final boss of the BE route. I know that the main objective was to defeat the Church; but the route is definitely focused on Edelgard, and it's strange that we don't get the occasion to beat the fucker for good.

Without Byleth, Edelgard dies at the beginning of the game. This might be true for Dimitri and Claude as well, but the cutscene only implies Edelgard was the only one that surely would have died.
Then, if somehow that event just doesn't happen, without Byleth the war is bloody and endless since its heavily implied in multiple routes that Byleth is the determining factor in the war and without Byleth seemingly the war goes on for at least the same 5 years before Byleth returns and presumably just continues much the same.
In addition it's implied that Rhea only gets captured because Byleth attempts to protect her and she in turn attempts to protect Byleth, so post time skip without Byleth it seems like Rhea would likely roast humanity or at least as much of Adrestria to cinders out of sheer rage, similarly to what happened in the opening cutscene.

The only problem with this is that Napoleon wasn't a manlet by the standards of his time.

When she ascends to the throne is when she finally has some form of agency over her life, and even then TWSITD have their claws ingrained so deep into the fabric of the empire she’s limited there as well

Edelgard wants to overthrow the Church and reunite Fodland like how it used to be. She also wants to get rid of Crests which she believes was in part Rhea's fault for allowing it and Rhea for allowing TWSITD to continue their actions while ignoring them.

Also, Edelgard's uncle is basically a puppeteer who owns most of the Imperial forces and basically used her father as a puppet for his own purposes.

Edelgard teams up with them so she can keep watch on them, use their power to reunite Fodland and defeat the Church, and eventually to get her revenge when she has enough power to do so.

Fodlan would have been a LOT worse off if the war hadn’t happened when it did and I don’t think this is a point that is brought up enough. Looking at it objectively it is asinine to believe things were just fine in the continent especially concerning TWSITD

Not really, TWSITD still exist and basically caused the Duscur Massacre not too long ago in the show.

Rhea's a typical tragic fallen hero, she isn't purposefully trying to be malevolent, but a lot of her actions are for her own self interests that objectively harm the well being of humans in the long run with stuff like the crest hierarchy institued and the general isolationism the tenets of the church encourage.

Church is Golden Deer lite. They share a ton of the same maps and plot threads, but you miss out on a unique lord and Golden Deer interactions.

Both of them are basically the same route, GD is the better of the two though

Claude was the difference between having a shitton of support in their warr against Seiros, and held a strategic front, of course they'd try to take him out of the picture.

Crests probably should have been a little stronger, FE4 style. Some of the crests aren't even that useful, and there are "nobles" like Caspar and Hubert that don't even have them. Adding extra personal abilities to balance crest havers/commoners probably would have made things more interesting.

It’s by far the FE game with the most well developed characters and story
The lore is still relatively unfinished though with many open questions so take all this with a grain of salt. Also many people are arguing without playing all the routes for multiple perspectives

I guess so. Most people just beat 1 route and then act like they have the full story and that's where a lot of the arguing comes from though.

There's nothing exception about any of the maps and it's pretty boring for subsequent play throughs

GD might have a few more answers but not many. The maps are also the same as the church ones. A lot of stuff about the dubstep cult is left unanswered. BE obviously gives some more insight on Edelgard and BL is the only route where Dimitri is more than a forgettable boss battle

The cover story that Rhea made up was all about concealing the nature of crests and relics, she doesn't want people to know that they can be stolen or taken from dragons, she just wants people to think that they are gifts from the goddess and that's all they are so they don't try to pursue them like the Agarthans do.
