Arcade Sticks are dated, overpriced peripherals that give literally no advantage

Is there a bigger meme in the FGC perpetrated by shills?
Not only they're dated peripherals based on a literal scam of design (sticks where built in a way that was actually harder to use for right-handed people, so that they could push for more money into the cabs), but they're actually inferior to pads besides for durabiity.

Many of us weren't born in 2000 like you were so we actually grew up in arcades. Also, sticks feel nice.

Fucking boomer.

Back to plebbit and twitter lil zoom.

>Boomer can't get with the times
And this is why you're not the main market of this industry anymore.

Doesn't mean you shouldn't go back to plebbit and twitter where you came from lil zoom. This place isn't cool or edgy. I hear they greentext and post dank memes there now so no need to stick around here with us old people.

I didn't like using a regular wireless 360 controller because of the dpad so I got this stick for $99 when it was on sale during a tournament (I think it was ECT 2012) and I still use it for some PC games

Bigger scam is a hitbox

>Muh plebbit/twitter boogeyman!
Look at this grandpa.

no, that would be a 60 dollar console gamepad

This

I can’t play without one. I fuck up too many motions on stick and pads are to small and crowded.

Hitbox at least gives people a real advantage, unlike a stick. But a Hitbox is pretty much a keyboard for boomers who can't get with the times so yes, it's still scam.

But they're fun and less destructive on your hands than regular controllers.

>Need different stick rotators based on if you play charge/noncharge characters
Once I heard this shit from my FGC friends, it just turned me off. The fuck you need multiple stick's for to play a game, y'all trippin'

But you did come from there and you are shitting up the place. Yea Forums is a dying website full of toxicity, leddit is the cool place to be where they have all the dank memes and cool personalities, you really should go back, it's way better over there.

Boomer who uses Pad reportin for duty. Never got into stick because we never had arcades in my small town and I didnt get into fg's until two years ago.

>Is there a bigger meme in the FGC perpetrated by shills?
Sticks are only pushed by posers. Certain games I can't play without a stick but most I do better on with a pad. It's all about what you're sued to and what's most comfortable. Whatever is most comfortable is what's going to give you your advantage.

it's the 09er posers who shat up the FGC by arcade OGs using sticks and then declaring with their tiny brains and drooling mouths that "sticks are necessary to be good!", no matter how many times people who know better told you it was just a matter of preference.

As I said in the OP, the fact they're so durable and you can pretty much replace parts relatively easily are the only advantages over pads.

I got a stick because I was getting tired of accidentally blocking low when I meant to block high and vice versa. Using a stick helped tremendously with that.
Plus, it just feels nice. I like the weight of it on my lap and the clicks of the buttons. Commissioned some artwork for it and waiting on news back now.

First I've ever heard of it. I play on a basic bitch Venom (swapped the buttons though) and I can play both charge and non-charge just fine.

being able to push certain button combinations instantly without contrting your hands is another big one.

how the fuck do you get used to square gates? i got to used to 8s and cant even get consistant with hadoken

>First I've ever heard of it.

Square gates are for charge chars

I started with square and couldn't do quarter circles at all for like a month. Took me about three months to "catch up" to my pad play.
Why would you want to use square over octagonal anyway? You trying to get better with a charge character?

You absolutely don't "need" to have both. As I said, I can play both just fine (square).

This is a meme though.

Square is superior. More space overall.

Looks cool
I liked the SCV graphics/art

I'm on the leaderboards and I only use an Xbox controller

Get fucked

I like the way they sound.

Just get those PDP pads with microswitches then. Best of both words.

You have an easy time pressing X+B or Y+A on a gamepad? What about slide inputs?

That's what macros are for.

illegal in tournaments.

And now the 09ers consider themselves OGs. Strange world.

Do you have down syndrome?

I got blisters when I first learned to play fighting games, using the "claw" method with a pad. Swapped to an arcade stick and haven't looked back, it doesn't make me any better at the games but it does allow me to play them as long as I want without any pain.

It's not about advantage. It's about getting that arcade feeling.
If you want an advantage just get a hitbox or use a keyboard.

there's good chinese equivalents coming user, just wait
mechanical keyboards are already cheap af thanks to cherry switches not having a monopoly anymore

open up an arcade stick and it's mostly empty with a few wires and the buttons, cheap ones are coming
you should see the chinese guitar i bought the other day... active pickups etc for cheap af

Never played in an arcade and I think sticks are more enjoyable to use and more comfortable to play fighting games with than pads. And really, the more common wisdom "perpetrated" in the fgc is that you should use what you want, and not that sticks are superior.

Just because you can be competitive on pad doesn't mean stick has no advantages.
For me it's having quicker access to more buttons more ergonomically and being able to control the stick more precisely with three fingers vs the pad of my thumb on a d-pad.

>overpriced
you can get a decent stick for $150 with sanwa parts (really good stick and buttons used among the best sticks). have my rap 4 kai sanwa and it's amazing.

even so, i don't use a fight stick anymore, i started using a hitbox, it's pretty cheap to be quite honest, and playing charge characters is no fair.

i don't know how you can say it's inferior to pads, try playing characters that rely on dash cancels or need macros or charge characters on a pad, literally impossible. hitbox is the best but no official company will make them because them being allowed in tournaments is grey.

You are fucking retarded. Try double tapping on a pad and then on stick and you'll notice how much easier it is on stick. Anyone trying to double tap on a pad has to commit to claw grip but at that point, they should just switch to stick as it's more ergonomic.

you got trolled retard

>noir layout
>that button mapping
Isn’t it awkward and unintuitive?

no idea where you heard that from, i used the stock hayabusa stick and buttons on the rap 4 kai for 6 months playing vatista, no problems.

Chinese shit is already pretty good. I use one of the many rebranded Mayflash V2s with the original stick just because it feels good to me. I did replace the buttons and the gate but again, it was pure preference. The default buttons were fine.

I switched the wiring around so the buttons are mapped like a "normal" TE

I grip the stick like I would play claw machine. Is it high iq?
