It's style switching between 5 styles but each style has less moves than than any one style in DMC5

it's slower but the attacks that you do perform are really distinct and arguably a lot more meaningful.

Each mission out of the 11 (game is about 15-20 hours long I hear) had a hard-difficulty that's only unlocked after beating it once.
Between all the unlocks and different builds, it seems like the game will have some room for experimentation and fucking around. Though, long-term appeal is something that is proven in practice, not theory

Isn't Astral Chain supposed to be inherently different from DMC because it's centered around controlling 2 characters at once.

The Sync attacks, as well as the use of the chain itself and the lack of damage from default attacks means that dealing with most enemies is really spacing-oriented and laying in sync attacks or special attacks at the right time.
The circling and stuff is actually a lot of work since enemies don't really cooperate and it can be a bit difficult since you're controlling two characters' position while trying to keep one alive.
Hard mode, I imagine, makes this considerably more difficult

I really fucking wish exploration in gates had better rewards. It's really stupid spending so much time in between fights in the area that should be nothing but fights just to get something I won't even need, use, or get to keep.

They could have easily just cut most of the chests in gates and kept the secret side areas that have worthwhile items and fights, in its current state you have to slog through so much useless garbage to find the good shit. Fuck red matter, too; it's like they tried to cram in too much busywork when the condensed experience was fun enough as it is.
Though maybe this is just a personal problem, seeing as I haven't seen anyone else complaining about it.

Not that guy, but at that point the game activates a bunch of random mechanics. It does auto-syncs so that you're doing a bunch of big combos with your standard attacks and when you try to dodge, it launches you at the enemies instead.
