Holy shit what crap textures.
Tranqs were a mistake. Should've either never been added to the series or at least been exclusive to the their very own "I'm a fucking retard and can't into stealth" difficulty.
MGS3 tranq-less (except on The Pain) is the funnest challenge run I've ever played
They went the extra step with 5 and made it so any weapon can be non-lethal and silent which trivializes lethal weapons completely
Completely agree.
What are these ps1 graphics?
its a psp game
it's from peace walker
then don't use it.
If anything they should make the tranq ammo very limited, like in Splinter Cell they gave you like 3 sticky shockers.
But then they had to go full retard with base building and encourage people to use it even more.
at least guards wake up in mgs
It was great in the waning moments of MGSV when every guard had a beefy helmet/face shield combo and I had to break out the LMG and grenade launcher to blast my way through the rest of it. Turns out it’s a decent shooter too.
>tranqs and silencers take all of the challenge out of the game!
then don't use them?
MGSV handles amazingly well. I think even its biggest critics agree on that. The game, IMO, has a lot of problems, but controls and responsiveness aren't any of them.
I don't. The problem is that thanks to the tranq gun any fucking retard is able to play the games by just standing around shooting everyone in the head from a mile away with zero consequence, then I have to listen to those "people" share their worthless opinions of the gameplay.
It's actually super good for a PSP game. Masterful low-poly work.
>balances it nicely so it can only fire once and then need to be unjammed because slide locks
>later adds a semi-automatic tranq sniper rifle you can fire so fast it may as well be automatic which is also silenced
this shit got so bad in mgs4 the hardest difficulty was only hard because it became impossible to buy tranq ammo and finding it was rare
It's pretty obvious that if you're complaining about tranqs, you never played on hard mode. In MGS2 there is limited tranq ammo across the whole game in harder difficulties. You essentially have to save them for bosses and you can never waste them on mooks.
>Not tracking every guard and marking the ones you want and killing the others before sneaking up and knocking out the valuable ones with CQC
I try not to but one of the issues I have with MGSV is that the game is obviously designed around killing/ko'ing guards and it's much harder, sometimes nigh-impossible, to get anything done by just avoiding them.
personal challenges are nice but they don't stop the balance issue from existing in the first place
>not using a banana
>it's much harder, sometimes nigh-impossible, to get anything done by just avoiding them.
sounds like a personal problem, not having silencers sounds like it would teach you how to get good and not get caught
>digitalis so rare using tranqs is never worth it
>but here's a shitload of rubber bullets instead
>and a fist that nukes an entire base with non lethal lightning you can use at next to no cost anyway
>figure the water pistol will work like the banana
>you can hold people up from the front even after you squirt them in the face
i spent most of the game killing guards because having them wake up was just annoying
then i found the water pistol and used it to shoot near a guard to make them investigate and then simply held them up and told them to lie down, they never recover from this unless an alert phase begins or someone finds them
water pistol could also be used to take out electronics too
You can also put out the Man on Fire with it as well as quietly sabotage electronic shit without causing massive explosions. The Water Pistol is surprisingly useful.
user I have put countless hours into this game playing without tranqs, silencers, knockouts, holdups, magazines, and many combinations thereof. It is much more challenging to do it like this but not necessarily in a fun way, in fact it's usually more tedious than anything and speed is also a factor in rank calculation. The point is that the game was obviously balanced around removing soldiers for numerous reasons, and I ultimately don't enjoy this as much.
>prod and crossbow are pieces of shit to use in the original
>HR gives you a compact silenced sniper rifle hours before any alternative, and a OHKO ranged taser
Did the last game even try to nerf non-lethal?
How do you unequip your hip weapon?
Im trying to go pistol only
you can't without mods
install infinite heaven
This. Even disables itself when you go online, too.
Really? I've always thought that going tranq was always the hard mode.
How's the performance on the PC release of TPP? Not terribly demanding I hope, because all I got is an RX 470 and 8 gigs of RAM.
Speed barely even matters if you manage to completely avoid everyone since you get such a huge bonus for no traces.
It's amazing, don't forget it's a PS360 game in the first place.
My 7 years old HD7950/R9 280 runs it perfectly solid at 1080p 60 fps on Ultra with some high settings.
You will be more than fine, I have a 770 2GB and can run it pretty much all maxed out with 0 frame drops
>enemies are only asleep for a single "Z"
That's great to hear. I'll give it a download soon.
>It's amazing, don't forget it's a PS360 game in the first place.
I know four years isn't a terribly long time, but fuck me did those years fly by since the game originally came out.
This has always been a shit excuse. The devs are the ones supposed to balance out the challenges the players face.
>soldier refuses to use lethal methods against enemy combatants
Why is this allowed? Snake should be court martialed for cowardice.
the game can be played without getting caught once outside of scripted events
what's your next excuse?
If you squirt some sleeping guard's dick, he will wake up and run to an outhouse.
What does that have to do with being given an OP pistol?
Retard
It's like magic
Okay, but don't use it then. What the fuck does it matter to you how others play it retard?
i really like this aesthetic
it's like 3d pixelshit but actually good
Because men aren’t islands you fucking autist
Are you retarded by any chance?
Except it's not, you just need to be faster. Speed is one of the most important factors when it comes to getting S-rank on a mission.
Okay, but don't use it still.
Faggot
the rating system is shit, it may as well not even exist
Rating system pretty much judges speed over anything else. You also have optional objectives you need ti get 100% in every mission.
This way you will have to play each mission 3 times (most times) in 3 very different ways. Once as a complete rookie, once knowing a lot of nooks and crannies for the secondary objectives, and one fast as fuck.
Pretty sure that's modded, actually. IIRC that mission only lasts 15 minutes no matter what you do. I've never heard of it going over an hour. It's also a level where you're expected to go loud, for what it's worth.
Not disagreeing with you that the rating system is incredibly lenient, but I don't think that screencap can be fairly counted.
it's not modded, you have to rescue the prisoners, but the optional objective to destroy all of the vehicles as they appear and move through the mission takes a long time
plenty of time to rack up headshots and other shit which proves the rating system is just a waste of time based on points and not skill
remember on ground zeroes when you could just disable reflex mode and you gained so many points from that you'd get top ratings on every mission anyway
