>best MMORPG is a 15 yr old watered down version of the genre
When will mmorpgs get good again?

FFXIV isn't that old, what are you talking about?

MMORPGS were just prototypes of mobile games

That isn't even an MMO. It's a horrible JRPG with some tacked on online features.

I've played FFXIV since ARR, as much as I liked it, it's not a fucking mmorpg. All the potential it had went down the drain after Heavensward. The story is the only thing worth caring about.

>ff14
>mmo

Can you tranny faggots stop bringing up your dead mmo? Yes so sorry 90% of the playerbase quit after 2 Months. No one fucking cares.

Soon, bros.

It's classic or nothing

Take your pick. Some private server lineage 2 servers still exist if you want a job for an mmo.

Will there ever be an actually innovative MMO or is everything just going to be themepark bullshit?
I mean fuck you can do almost anything in an MMO, like imagine Planetside but good, maybe at arma ranges to reduce lag

Runescape still exists

Why do you try so hard to deny that it's an mmo? Just because you couldn't make any friends for being an insufferable faggots, doesnt mean it's not an mmo. It has an overworld and plenty of multiplayer content

MMORPG is a dead genre like RTS.
Just move on.

Maybe success of Classic will start another MMORPG fad. And maybe just maybe some devs won't be retarded idiots.

Fuck Blizzard though. Classic and retail both.

This, they were never good in the first place. Just a replacement for social interaction for which there are many better options on the internet now.

I want a good MMORPG that is not
>World of Warcraft
>Final Fantasy XIV
>Guild Wars 2
>or pay to win

Any recommendations?

VR Chat

MMOs were never good. They were novel the first time you play them but they're just not good games. Dragon's Dogma Online was probably the closest because it had good combat but it would've definitely been better without the MMO component, and it's dead in December.

Maybe the new Archeage release in a few months if they manage to not fuck up this time

Runescape came out in 2001, so 18 years

Dual Universe, Star Citizen... one can hope.

Why aren't there any first person mmorpg's?

I would be extremely happy if SC is actually good, but I have zero faith

>or pay to win
good luck with that

Kill yourself, Wojakshitter.

>ff14 not a mmo
>you can do stuff with 100+ people
How come ff14 is not a mmo?

Nexon's Dark ages.

Sell me on ArcheAge

Seething faggot slit your own wrists

Might as well call Destiny an MMO then

Final Fantasy 11 is actually more than 17 years old now.

based

based

such as?

It's a tragedy of the commons situation. The constant adding of content means you need the profits that can sustain that. That means appealing to the largest possible number people. Our nifty niche games and interesting but slightly less accessible gameplay? Not gonna happen.

well we need an mmo with no pay to win shit...
does it have to be an rpg?
why don't we make one?

pic is literally me

MMO will online really return when VR will be more advanced.
so in 10 or 20 years.

IM A SAD GAMUR

Op you just got gayer lol

With Pantheon Rise of the Fallen.

Until my consciousness can be transported into virtual reality and get stuck there so I need to work with my rag-tag misfit friends to save my irl friend who is in a coma then I'm not playing it.
