Dark Souls 2 could have been fucking amazing if its development cycle wasn't such a trainwreck.

But it was.
A trainwreck, that is
it was still the best game in the souls series
love revisiting this masterpiece every year
Bear, seek, seek, lest.
What did you like so much about it
Blame consoles, the PS3 in particular had troubles with the original game's advanced lighting engine and the whole game needed to be scrapped and remade because of it.
pvp
power stancing
lucatiel
the dlc was god tier
even the soundtrack is aces
noice
who is the artist that did these? i'd love to see the rest of their work.
i wonder how many games did consoles ruin, at least on a visual level, due to downgrades
I can literally tell you that it's the platform environment that fucked their plans. You can see it very, very frequently in Fromsoft projects that they push their games to the literal ends of the platform's functionality to do whatever they want to it, and often struggle to even make it run consistently, and there's also them trying to trim fat until it works when you consider their limits on production schedules. If you left them alone without a platform to actually develop for, they'd make some insane masterpiece after going dead silent after 30 years have and millions of dollars have vanished. Dark Souls 2 is symptomatic of many issues on the platform, and is unjustly hated.
>i wonder how many games did consoles ruin, at least on a visual level, due to downgrades
all of them
They really had no fucking idea what to do with DaSII, did they? It plays like it was designed by someone who saw someone else play Dark Souls once in a dimly lit room.
>t. didn't level ADP
not really, nub
they took everything BASED about dark souls 1 and turned it up to 11 and took everything SHIT about dark souls 1 and deleted it
sorry your too stupid to understand it
>itt pvp fags defend their shit game with horrible level and enemy design
No, it wouldn't have. A handful of concept art doesn't change that.
No, it isn't you contrarian fuck.
>Dark Souls 2 could have been fucking amazing
But it wasn't
concept art is always cool
hell yes
>Shitty Level design
>Shitty world design
>Warping from the start
>Agility
>Lifegems
>Shitty sound design
>Shitty bosses
>Soul Memory
>Deadzones
>Notorious shitboxes
>Have to level up at hub
>Bothersome enemy placement
And it STILL manages to be on par with ds3
BB=DaS>DeS>Sekiro>>>DaS2=DaS3
>t. insane cuckborn spammer
don't you have a containment thread on /vg/ to shit up? be gone.
You can't refute me.
alot of that stuff is in the game
Brainlets outed themselves as having the shallowest taste.
This game was terrible enough that they had to revise it and release SotFS
dark souls 3 is shit
And Scholar barely improved anything. It feels like a romhack.
A fucking Cinders is a better mod for DS3 than SotFS was for DS2.
dilate
DS2 fanbase, everyone
I finished DaS remastered and want to play DaS2. Should I get SotFS or original?
t. hbomberfag
they made all maps based solely on the concept art
so the world itself made no fucking sense because they were all based off different unrelated concept arts
you never played DaS2 pvp
I liked how lonely ds2 felt, the devs really nailed that forgotten realm sorta vibe i dig and i don't mean that in the d&d way. just that all the zones are in such huge states of decay. places like the shaded woods just have a vibe the other games couldn't get.
>the dlc was god tier
It was garbage aside from Fume Knight who is the only decent boss in the entire DLC and base game.
>muh Allone
Fucking retarded fight where he does the same attack over and over and the run there is pure cancer.
KYS
Scholar, absolutely.
>bossfaggotry
I bet you think Gaping Dragon is terrible.
Most of that looks generic as hell, absolutely korean MMO tier.
Lmao, you actually think those same dreary and dull environments were "engrossing" and an "adventure" to play through don't you?
Yikes.

This absolute madlad is fixing DaSII's terrible lighting, say something nice about it.
Yeah, the DLC areas were great.
i only played the iron king dlc and i thought it was ass. 80% of the areas were tight corridors where you constantly hit the wall with just about any weapon that wasn't a rapier or something while the enemy's attacks just clipped through. it was frustrating.
That must explain why I enjoyed it for the most part (The paths to the optional bosses excluded). I just spammed Dark Bead at everything I couldn't poke with a Dark Rapier.
Amazing! This explains it, even the rejected concepts look like ass. No wonder it was terrible.
There were a lot of men with spears and swords in that game. 2 was my first soulsborne but when I went to play the first game there was STILL a lot of men with spears and swords, but sometimes they would have snake heads and I don't know how to feel about it.
Looks like a mmo
