Gatekeeping is the dumbest fucking shit. The trailers for Y0 got me interested in the series. I started with Y1 and 2 on PS2 before 0 came out and then I played Kiwami 1 and 2 after it. I plan on playing the remasters of 3-5 and then playing 6. This series is fun.

That's okay though, when people complain about newfags they're usually complaining about the people who started with 0. Sure, people can play the games in any order they want but if you've been in the pre-0 Yakuza threads, you'll understand why gatekeeping is necessary.
It's not about how new they are, or the game they've started with, it's about their mentality. Most of the newfags are just "loollll memes, Majima is crazy lmao, haha dude minigames!"

Not really, but mainly because I don't particularly care for Ichiban, but I also don't know who could take up the MC mantle after Kiryu. Majima or Akiyama would be most likely, but Majima's pretty old, and I don't know how much more you can get out of Akiyama after 4 and 5.
