Ferdinand is a much cooler guy with more variety to him given he excels in a ton and isn't weak in anything, also has a crest so he can use spare relics.

Capsar's generally stronger but he's never going to be good at anything but axe+fist war master, which you'll likely have one of Dedue, Raphael, Alois, or Gilbert doing. Also if you're not on BE route, Caspar + Mercedes get a paralogue after timeskip.

Not really. The Empire 100% relies on numbers advantage in almost every situation, like even in the invasion of the monastery she's "on the frontlines" but if she feels threatened she retreats and then sends wave after wave of her men.

And in Gondor Fields she is clearly hanging back as a commander. Fire mages are doing things from afar, she's standing still pointing her troops forward to run while standing still. In gameplay, hangs back on her spot, Bernie is very clearly the one that's "on the frontline" and funny enough most likely to be sacrificed given the contingency plan of setting the hill on fire even with her on it.

The church is still somewhat fucked up, mostly Rhea, she herself admits as much.

If you talk to monks they discuss how the Church was responsible for aiding in the rebellion of the kingdom and the alliance from their respective territories and how the truth of how crests were really made was obscured by her to enforce the nobility system. The idea of consent to what happened to Byleth only comes from Rhea as no one else knows what happened without being told details by her, even accepting this though it does not excuse deliberately obfuscating what a divine revelation would be when having Byleth agree to sit on the throne in the Holy Tomb. I don’t recall the game accounting for whether Byleth’s mother was given informed consent either, but regardless in research it is against the law to not give information like that and with good reason, since there are things people will consent to only if they don’t have full information, like “this divine revelation might wipe you out of existence so that the goddess may return”. The idea of being sentenced without trial should really hit a nerve, and honestly I blame the writers for fucking this up and making all the accused seemingly admit guilt immediately, but if you give it even a second of thought you do realize if Rhea or possibly any of the clergy don’t like you for any reason all it takes is an accusation to get your ass put down. Imagine if a rape accusation was all that was needed in court to get you locked up.
