>arrive at some camp in Fallout 1
>shady fatfuck wants me to off someone else
>decline the offer
>tells me word can't get out that he wants that guy dead, so he turns on me and I have to defend myself killing him & his bodyguard
>leader of the guards of the town said that he was a piece of shit, however I murdered him and shouldn't come back to the camp
what the fuck, do the devs of Fallout 1 have no idea what self defense means?

you have no one 2 blame but urself
Welcome to the wasteland...kiddo.
Fallout was never a good franchise.
>can't just drain NPCs of their dialogue without consequence
wowwww
>Some rando privileged vault dweller fuck comes into my town
>Comes into my office
>"Yeah sure kid. Kill this bastard of a guy getting in my way."
>He declines
>Fucking wut lol
>Explain that I cant let word get out
>All he had to do was say "sure" and not do it
>He guns me down
>Guy I tried to kill says thanks to the fucking kid
>But due to him having a moral stick up his ass (the reason I wanted him dead) he banishes him
>Fuck you vault dweller
Classic Bethesda writing, right there.
>hurr durr I should be able to murder without consequence. Fuck you Todd Howard
Really? Huh. Translations for the PAL regions called it Junk Camp.
Todd we know its you. Dont try and take credit for good games.
>I should be able to murder without consequence
It sounds like an interesting turn of events. Why not just roll with it?
Yes? Do you see animals punished for raping females and killing weak soi males? It's the natural way of things.
>murder
Retards, he wanted to kill me, I just reacted. That's called self defense.
>Fallout 1
>made by Bethesda/Todd Howard
user, I...
>stranger comes to town
>kills a man, says it was self-defense
>why tf should I trust the word of this outsider?
>oh well, the guy was a real scumbag anyway
>"listen bud we won't punish you but you should hit the road"
>A man tries and kills you.
>You kill him.
>You kill all witnesses, his bodyguards.
>All the town knows is that some ass killed the local mafia guy.
>Guy tries to say it was self defence.
>Source: "Dude trust me."
>Kicks guy out of town
You got off pretty fucking lightly.
despite hating the guy they have no other immediate power figure in junktown
of course they fucking boot you out after you kill someone and they don't know your reason as to why
I haven't played fallout 1 in ages, does he do anything if you just stick around?
>Be a stranger from out of town
>kill someone within minutes of arriving
>expect the local law to suck my dick and crown my jarl of junktown
>"Wow a vault dweller, wonder what those guys get up too, I hear they are raised with that pre-war 'moral' mindset."
>"Looks like he's heading to Gizmo's, I dont like working for him but he pays the bills I suppose."
>BANG
>BANG
>BANG
>"Holy shit he killed him. John get the fucking sheriff."
>"Yeah fucko, just get out of here and never come back."
>"It was self defence? Sure kid, dont care, fuck off."
>gizmo is a literal TABLE
why did fallout 1 have much more SOUL than fallout 2?
kek
The only thing I dislike about old 2D games is that you have to either play them in a tiny window, zoomed out as fuck but on modern resolutions, or low resu upscaled to modern res that looks terrible.
I wonder if that AI upscale thing that can make games to look super sharp can help to make 2D games playable in modern resolutions without looking blurry.
just upscale with the correct forced ratio
Learn to embrace the pixels. Tell yourself it's soulful
I should be able to taunt characters into attacking me so I can murder them in self defense with no consequence whatsoever.
>join faction
>only get 2-3 quests to max them out
for what purpose?
>guy enters your office
>you have no idea who they are, what they want, what their skillset is, this could literally be the milkman or new janitor for all you know
>"Hey, take another human's life for me"
>"uhh... no"
>kill him for declining
How do you do business with anybody acting like this?
You've never tangled with an Autistic Mafia boss?
are you retarded?
just tick that scaling x2 option in fallout res config and enjoy what's "about right" scale rendered at 1080p
I know you're just joking but it makes sense that killing someone politically connected, in an era of marginal rule of law, would result in your exile.
That his rivals wouldn't mind him being dead also makes sense, and it also makes sense that they neither want to cross you (because you're a murderer and you might be useful later) but they also don't want you around (because you aren't loyal to them, you seem to be impulsive, you obviously have a problem with authority, and you'd be a magnet for trouble).
I mean that's not bad writing, that's good writing.
if you play the game in the intended progression your character has spent about a month kicking ass, taking names and chewing bubblegum before you arrive in junktown (or being some kinda virgin with maxed speech, stealth and steal skills)
even if your reputation doesn't follow you explicitly in fallout 1 like it does in fallout 2, it's basically equivalent of a gunslinger riding into town in ye olde west times, and gizmo has eyes and ears in junktown
Holy shit,
like holy fucking shit,
I knew Yea Forums had horrible opinions, but their opinions on Fallout 1/2 takes the cake. You guys just don't want to admit these are garbage games no one with a decent amount of intelligence would ever want to play in their lives. How do you people even feed yourselves? Not trolling by the way, you know I'm right.
Only thing I hate about Junktown was the planned endings vs the endings we got. Originally, it was meant to be deceptive: helping Gizmo would allow him to expand his business, and the town would become a new Vegas. Helping Killian would lead to a town that was too restrictive with laws, and it would end up deserted as a result.
Instead, we got GOOD GUY GOOD BAD GUY BAD.
Daily reminder gizmo literally did nothing wrong and it was just black isle being a bunch of pussies that designated him as the villain in the final cut.
black isle didn't exist yet when fallout 1 was being made
and yeah the original intent was even if Killian is portrayed as a "good guy" in the game, junktown was to fall into ruin under his rule, unlike Gizmo's more profit oriented sense
autism.
Clearly a descendant of Dib the Chair
>game set in a harsh and unfair world punishes you
mazda
And yet you were the only mongoloid dumb enough to respond.
Every bait deserves a single (You)
I like your attitude.
The great thing about Fallout 1 is it punished you for being a moralfag and actually made it a challenging experience. I wish more games would do this.
Being a moralfag in both Beth and Obsidian's Fallouts is the optimal choice.
