There's been a ton of bullshit in recent years, but one thing I'm thankful for is how places like steam and GoG streamline all this tedious work. Don't even get me started on how horrible many older games were when it came to PC versions. Good fucking luck getting the original vanilla PC versions of MGS2 or Silent Hill 2 running. And also thank god we now have updated rereleases of older games that used to have fucktons of compatibility issues with more modern hardware, such as dark engine games like system shock 2 and thief.

Yeah, GoG is fantastic for that. Steam isn't as good on that end, but they still provide the benefit of just streamlining how games run. Games just work(TM), no worrying about making sure your shit is properly updated, and so on.

That's a weird bug, but it has a simple fix. Just open and close the browser repeatedly and it should come back.

Shadows are a pretty good one to drop to get some FPS. Shadow quality barely ever bothers me these days. If I look close enough I can tell they're more blocky and blurry but the overall scene still looks fine as long as the shadows are present at all.

I really wish we saw more real-world-applicable benchmarks. I get why they benchmark things in certain ways, in order to remove bottlenecks and such, but 99% of the time, it's totally unrealistic.

Nobody is pairing a 2080ti with a 1080p monitor. Nobody is playing at 4K with super-sampling AA. In 90% of scenarios, CPU choice doesn't even fucking matter in video games unless you're an esportsfag playing at low settings 720p 240hz or for specific CPU-intensive games like Total War.

Actually I find myself being CPU bottlenecked quite often on my 4690k @4.3GHz. Fucking Overwatch of all things maxes out my cpu at all times so I quit playing. Thankfully it's a shitty game. But even older games like TF2 and Payday 2 will drag my system to a crawl while only using 20% of my GPU.

PokeCommunity used to have an arbitrary rule that banned sharing romhacking tools without getting the creator's permission. It was probably to prevent sharing outdated tools but since a lot of the guys who made those tools didn't speak english, didn't use PokeCommunity, or just haven't been seen or heard from in years, all the rule did was make it a pain in the ass to find certain tools.
I don't know when they rolled back on that rule but in 2015 it was impossible to find a functioning & translated version of Sappy because of them.
