paladins in other games look fine without a shield. it's just somewhat odd in FFXIV seeing as some animations are based on you using a shield like the throw or bash attacks.

Has anyone tried pressing random until they get a silly looking face that you can get a personality from, and then alter their clothes and appearence slightly to make it work?

I've found this to be a lot better than working from scratch and they remain my favorites.

He needs Merchantile, Illusion, Mysticism, and maybe Alteration at the very least. Destruction if you want pyrotechnics. Main magic would be Illusion, using Charm, Calm and Command spells to bedazzle his peers and turn them into rabid fans. Merchantile to make all the money, Mysticism to do flashy shit like telekinesis, and Alteration to shield himself from damage because you know he's gonna be rockin jackets and not armor.
