Will it be the Civ killer?

Will it be the Civ killer?

i cant even remember what this game was called
it looks WAAAAAAY too similar to civ 6 and it looks like it plays exactly the same so it will be DOA

No, it'll seem incredibly simplified compared to civ.

Civ killed itself.

Disgusting UI, like mobile game.

civ destroyed itself by becoming a dlc simulator. i'm honestly surprised it took someone this long to make a decent civ like game

Cant wait to play as the jews and use the roving clans' ability to make other factions declare war on each other with your false flag attacks.

civ has a strong brand.
even shitty games like be and 6 sell millions.

unless firaxis pulls a retarded pr move like ea does with its famous IP, nothing can kill civ.

i am very curious. the visuals are far above civ 6. I wonder how they are going to set themselves apart beside that.

>not liking Amplitude’s UI paradigm
You just have no aesthetic sense.

It's soulles and generic.

Amplitude, the same guys who did endless games?.Didn't played endless legends but endless space was comfy as fuck.

Yeah, so expect this game to be a part of the Endless universe somehow. I'm expecting it all to take place in a Vaulter super computer showing the history of the human race.

I doubt it will be better than CIV 5 with all expansions and Voxi Populi's improvements, particularly the improved AI.

Every game that seriously tries to directly compete with civ just ends up being a worse version of it

Amplitude is competent enough to actually deliver this time. Those french nerds love 4x games.

>dude transparent boxes, flat textures, and plain fonts right so AESTHETIC
awful

>Disgusting UI, like mobile game.
But enough about Civ 6.

>only criticism is "DUDE _____"
Maybe if you try to speak like an adult you can make an actual argument.

I know the picture is a bit confusing, but this isn't a Civ 6 thread, user.

It's not like your first post made an argument either
>if you don't like it ur dumb

It looked like it has EL combat and that really isn't the greatest.
Better than Civ but still.

Now I'm just waiting for someone, anyone to make a grand strategy game and challenge Paradox's cancerous chokehold on the genre. That's one area that desperately needs competition.

Honestly I would much rather have Civ's combat, neither game's combat is any fun so just get it out of the way and reduce it to numbers

This.

Bannerlord perhaps.

Their UI is elegant, simple, neatly organized and unobtrusive.

You can auto-resolve combat but then you’re relying on the machine to do your job for you.

Their UI is bland, boring, and vague.

UI isn't supposed to draw your attention, it's meant to serve a functional purpose and generally should be out of the way and blend with the game.

Says you

You might as well argue that food isn’t supposed to be nutritious.

You might as well argue that nutrient paste is the optimal food. Flavor matters

Simple is the antithisis functional. Information is purposeful obscured behind windows and tabs for the sake of elegance.

it's generally better to subdivide menus instead of clutter the screen, as long as common actions are accessible in 2 clicks or fewer.

Well if we continue down this line, hard candy would be superior to filet mignon according to you

1 or 2 clicks makes a huge difference

That was Drakken.
Happy merchants did market bans.

it looks like civ6 had sex with apple

Amplitude has the most relevant information displayed on the game screen and more detailed information in submenus. The original criticism was that the menu design was boring though.

looks fine, it won't be the graphics that make or break the game
my bets are civ 5 > this game > dogshit > civ6

civ is already ded

Reminder Amplitude is known for valuing style over substance, sub-par balance and post-launch bloat, i'd would hold off on getting hype for this game if you're expecting an engaging 4X, with that said it will still be better than Civ 6 but that isnt saying much.

While this thread about 4Xs is up, how good is Age of Wonders Planetfall as a 4X game?

>sub-par balance
Fuck off with your no-fun allowed attitude! Gameplay variety > """balance"""
Very good but not perfect (yet). Introducing unit mods was brilliant.

>Very good but not perfect (yet). Introducing unit mods was brilliant.
Well that's neat. I'll give it a shot then.

>civ destroyed itself by becoming a dlc simulator
well memed, retard. the last civ games had a couple significant expansions, which are almost welcome. the rest of the dlc was just some extra bonus civilizations.

Yes. Civ fags are simply in denial and have been so ever since the slow collapse of their once legendary series. There will be more than one mental midget that whines about muh clone but the game is guaranteed to be good enough to. erode Civ's undeserved status as something special.
