Why do people pretend mega man was ever good?

why do people pretend mega man was ever good?
>artificial difficulty
>instant death spikes
>no save system only playable with save states
>forced to replay stages when you gameover
>forced grind for gears to buy more e-tanks
>convoluted storyline

that's like 80% of nes games

>>artificial difficulty
Literally everything moves in set patterns.

>Megaman
>convoluted storyline

oh no Dr. Wily/Sigma did a bad thing

Because hipster cred.

If you think Mega Man's story is complicated you're a fucking retard

The one thing I will actually say is that the extreme frame drops of the NES titles make them seem borderline unplayable from a modern perspective.

Git gud

Even then they run smooth as shit if you play them on any of the various collections or rereleases (or emulator) since like 2003 or some shit

I hate gen z

That's only a real problem in MM3, I think, that one has frame drops through entire LEVELS

>megaman
>grind for gears
must be something in the later X games because I don't remember that shit at all.
>convoluted storyline
go stop wily, he made more robots
>artificial difficulty
zoom zoom

the only complicated thing is which of the x5 endings leads to x6

Just turn on rookie hunter mode

I thought we all collectively agreed that X5-X7 didnt happen though

X8 isn't THAT much better. I don't know why some people give it a free pass. Is it just because it came after 7?

MegaCorps chill all over the Internet

It's not really tooo much better than 5 and 6 but it's playable, the story can actually be followed somewhat, and I also just thought it was generally pretty fun. Maybe it's guilty pleasure. I also love the elevator theme

But yeah being way better than X7 is a massive upside so I can see that being a factor

I have a soft spot for X5 from my time playing in an arcade

>no save system only playable with save states
Only the first game had no save system.
2-7 got passwords that could make you start at Wily 1 or the first fortress from 4-6.
8 started having the option to save the game and so did the later games.

x8 was the first game since x4 to improve its predecessor

the mechanics were great it just needed better level design
