You can look at it two ways. Blizzard continueally getting things wrong and underestimating how much actual demand there was for classic or the fact they are literally providing a vanilla experience, since queue times were also this long are WoW's launch.

When did you start playing? Most of the really bad queues in Vanilla were December of 2004 and January of 2005 after the game launched. After that only the high pop servers really had queues.

If people subscribed to WoW, just for classic, why wouldn't they have new servers up within a few hours of those numbers hitting the board?

They've had the betas and stress tests to gauge interest. Then they had everyone who reserved their names two weeks in advance and then they had every server full two days before launch so they would have to be completely retarded to not expect more players to sign up on launch day.
I think each server holds 12k players now.
They did put up new servers but it's too late to coordinate guilds/reserving names/national communities.

I do need more fiber in my diet to be perfectly honest.

Got in instantly, got ahead of the zerg by ninja tagging a bunch of quest mobs, then just used that momentum to go to less populated areas and do tons of quests uncontested. Played about 17 hours, logged off as top level on server now and going to rest. Feels amazing man.

I understand the appeal of vanilla. I'm not arguing that it's a bad game, vanilla wow-wotlk was probably the most fun I've had in a vidya.
What confuses me is this. We are talking about blizzard, they have a AWFUL track record. People have had 15 years + to realize this trend. How do people launch vanilla encounter ques then reee about it? People should expect ques by now, this is wod 2.0. On top of that this is a game that released 15 years ago, and has had multiple private servers. So everyone has had the chance to officially/unofficially experience vanilla.
What is the long term plan? You know what raids are coming, you know the gear you need, you know the pvp meta. There is literally nothing to explore or learn that hasn't been mapped out to an exact science.
If blizzard had announced vanilla and said something along the lines of them confirming they will create custom vanilla content down the line I'd understand the frenzy for the game more. But most people are subbed to a game they've already "beat" for what?
I wish they had followed Jagex's example of osrs where you keep all the original components and add in new and unique content to the vanilla game. But blizzard are lazy fuckers who know their fanbase and know people will give them money no matter what they do.

As i understand it; if you personally DC because of some issue, then you have a grace period. If you DC because the area you where in went down, you are shit out of luck. When i dc'ed, the entire layer i was in apparently DC'ed. So now im back in the queue. Great use of a PTO
