bump

completely different games but tenchu has a special place in my heart, sekiro was just "dark souls, but hey you can do stealth if you want to", whereas you sort of had to do stealth in tenchu

Wrath of Heaven, no contest. I’d argue even the combat in WoH plays by more consistent rules than Sekiro doesn’t. I can’t think of much Sekiro does better aside from graphics and story.

The first Tenchu game.

Tenchu 1 is the best one, Tenchu 2 removes the non-linear 'jungle-gym' level design making stealth non- consequential/uninteresting. Every FromSoftware game before Demon Souls was dogshit (except for those armoured core games).

King's Field 4 was great you fuck. The atmosphere and interconnected level design was done much better in that than any Souls game.

Lore too, since it actually has a journal.

What's good about it gameplay-wise? Looks like those pc point and click maze games. How is it different than all those other games, what makes it worth playing?

linear isn't bad.

In Tenchu 2 it is. There's no intensity scaling, you just bum rush a guard and crouch kill him, works every time. That's the majority if the level design in Tenchu 2.

>Zero load times even when teleporting
>big focus on exploration
>completely interconnected as opposed to just two or three areas in Souls series.

>completely interconnected as opposed to just two or three areas in Souls series.

Does this make the game more fun at the end of the day? I get it when game use shortuts to prevent backtracking, but making the entire game interconnected...what does that really accomplish for the player ?

Yeah it might be technically impressive along with zero load times, but for a person living in 2019 how does that make it fun when those aspects don't matter anymore? What's the best moment you had in that game is a better question.

>Does this make the game more fun at the end of the day?
Yes. It's pretty much the first time I've noticed how load times impact immersion.
>What's the best moment you had in that game is a better question.
probably when the music shifts when you 'connect' the areas. The game gives you a map which I didn't have to use at all just because of music cues.

Soul / Souls like

WoH has better gameplay than the first game though.

Different games. One is a stealth game, the other one is action.

Keep seething Bloodbronies

I preferred Fatal Shadows because Rin is cute.

The Manji Cult level was fucking amazing

do tenchu clones even exist?

Yes. Bad ones

>can't find the version with blood
>can't make it work without the ghosting on pcsx2
>remember that either the camera or the control were disgusting

>>remember that either the camera or the control were disgusting
Both, but the controls were way worse than the camera. Most of the non-essential game mechanics were bullshit and nearly impossible to execute.

Tenchu for me. I had better time with Tenchu games than with Sekiro

The focus of the series is exploration, and it's pretty hard to top in that regard. The environments are really well crafted.

>all those other games
So far as I'm aware, there's not much similar to it other than Shadow Tower, Ultima Underworld, and Arx Fatalis.

Shinobido is extremely similar. I don't know if it's true or not, but I heard that some of the original Tenchu devs worked on it.

>The environments are really well crafted
Seriously. I don't usually care about the lore in these types of games but this one had a memorable subplot with cannibals. Like what the fuck is this Jeffrey Dahmer material doing in a dungeon crawler?

Fucking From Software was making a Tenchu before they decided to change. Yes, i loved Sekiro, but i wish we could get a Tenchu next too.

What else is the other team working on while the rest work on Elden Ring?

with all due respect, sekiro wins hands down
tenchu is cool and all but my nostalgia goggles can't blind me that hard
