Grand Strategy

It all returns to nothing,
it all comes tumbling down, tumbling down, tumbling down.

Play a better game.

How the fuck did you manage to lose as Ming?
Did you not notice your mandate dropping or something?

I was playing Japan, just switch tag to watch the chaos.

So now that Ming is fucked, what should I do next? Currently colonizing Arasuka.

Colonise Mexico (Mekishiko) and whatever other regions you can direct trade from, then launch an invasion of Europe from the west.

eu4 doesnt do it for me anymore Yea Forumsros. recommend me another grand strategy game, preferably one that doesnt evolve into mindless blobbing halfway into the playthrough

Crusader King 2. You play as character instead of country, it's more like role-playing game.

>non ironman

Attached: 1513385198798.png (707x1000, 654K)

Please don't bully me, Nagatoro.

which ones have you already played

tried it already. rp aspect could be quite fun but it never felt challenging enough, went from count to king of france in one of my first games. that was base game though, never played with any dlc so there could be more to it

It is weird that my second most played nation in EU4 is Dai Viet as an American?
My most played is a tie between Spain and Portugal due to me constantly loving being a colonizer and letting my colonial nations fight my wars for me.

ck2, eu4 and imperator. imperator is too barebones and focuses too much on monarch power, eu4 is fun early but it gets tedious once you get past 1650, ck2

I can't roleplay when everyone else is a retard ai

What do you like about Dai Viet? Also, hope Paradox rework Southeast Asia after Europe update.

try vic 2, it's the best one to play tall in due to its economic and population mechanics

No it isnt, EU4 is an irredentism simulator and america is too young to be part of that.

Sooooo... I've not played anything but native american countries. When is paradox going to fix them?

IDK, something about it appeals to me, not even a Charlie either, I just really like it. The Military ideas slightly stick out to me, but I also like the roleplay aspect. They are even decent colonizers too if you put effort into them

how does it fare lategame? heard great power wars spice it up well enough

they do, all the great powers can get drawn into a war over a crisis like the liberation of poland or something and throw millions of troops at each other, the losing side is disarmed and can have their empire dismantled in mods

sounds fun, might try it later. thanks user

So, Victoria III when?

Uhhh...

Attached: eu4_229.png (1600x900, 1.83M)

Trust me you don't want it

Imperator is getting a patch that remove mana, there's hope.

>finally found the Empire of Britannica after starting as an Irish duke
>see the absolute mess of duchies/counties the AI had produced
>immediately lose interest

>having dukes as emperor of brittania
>not just having four viceroyalties king vassals (Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England)

What should the fifth idea group be?

drop expansion and go for diplomatic+admin ideas.

admin, influence depending on if you want to make some marches or diplo since it lowers ae inderectly and -20 percent less wars is good

Trade companies + territorial corruption kind of ruined playing in Asia for me. All i want is to move my capital to Europe so i can get those trade companies and unlimited conquest

post good and intresting mods

>All i want is to move my capital to Europe
Well you can't anymore.

You can. There are some work arounds like losing your capital in a war but its a bit tideous.
hell, you can play Mayan Mughals if you want

Attached: fuck you.png (234x286, 6K)

That's a lot of provinces.

don't worry user, this genre will be saved on march 2020

What's on march 2020?

Try Imperator again next month, they are removing the mana system.

Recommend me some countries do you think are fun, Yea Forums

Aztec, have fun when Spain and the UK want to tag team you though

Genoa, focus on keeping your presence in Black Sea and expand to Crimea and Caucasus.

I love Field of Glory 2 but I'm still not sure if I will buy this.

Don't tell me that's from the next Europe update?

What map mod are you using?

aFPS and SHADER BOOST

page 10 again.

see Why that slow autistic game is always spammed? are there no other good strategy game?

The merc change looks good but estates are still going to be push button for x modifier

What wrong with SEA?

Why is mamluck alway fucking colonize australia?
Everytime every sing damn time why?

Yeah, but by the looks of things you at least only have to do it once and then ignore it (unless you want to change bonuses). That's still a million times better than it has been up to now, a mindless chore you have to do every so often pushing some buttons for a bit of free mana, or assigning a bunch of land every time you annex something just to avoid the penalties.

Ayuthatya?
Or maybe dai viet?

Cebu
Privateer focused
Only hold islands

Never heard of it until now.

Madyas is the best peenoy country though. Literally naval Prussia.

I'm off for about 30 mins, please keep the thread alive if you can.

Here’s a bump for Vicky 3

Pirate Madyas was some of the most fun shit. Until you fight endless stacks of Spanish boats. You can win wars against Ming by just blockading all of their shit. Just keep punching them for money.

Speaking of good SEA nations. Netherlands is bullshit. Got the 500 heavies achievement without even breaking a sweat in my economy.

Pinoy pirates sounds fun but what to do after unified Philippines?

How do you make that much money?

bump

Okay I'll give it a go. Wish me luck and any tips would be welcome.

Attached: eu4_234.png (1600x900, 1.74M)

Is it like playing pirates like New Providence when you attack a colonial nation the overlord doesn't come in?

victoria 2, blobbing is basically impossible unless it's in africa

>the overlord doesn't come in?
I think that only apply to colonial nations.

>blobbing is basically impossible unless it's in africa

Ugh...

God I fucking hate Paradox, they're the only ones that are making decent 4x games but they release their games incomplete so they can sell you $200 worth of DLC and patches

To be fair, many of the features in DLCs were after thought.

Just buy the base game for 75% off and pirate all dlcs. Even better now you can play multi with gog and steam version.

Explain why CK2 feels so devoid of content without the DLC then

I said this in the last GS thread yesterday, but I do a lot of self-imposed challenges in CK2;

>start as a minority religion, no secret conversions, stay devout
>elective successions
>no blobbing; keep myself as small as possible for my objectives
>half demesne size
>never start as anything higher than Count

Shit like that keeps it spicy in my playthroughs.

for beginners, Portugal as it's just map painting via colonies.
If you're a bit more advanced and know how to work around AE then a Brandenburg -> Prussia game is always fun.

reminder
the Chinese front was the kino front of ww2

Attached: china hoi4.jpg (1920x1080, 448K)

Are there any grand strategies with good diplomacy? The only way to get shit done in most of them is to get stronk and blob everything in sight. It's near impossible to survive based purely on trade and alliances, some random country will always turn on you out of nowhere due to the shitty AI.

Yeah that's fairly common.
If mameluks gets exploration, they have easy routes to indonesia and australia.

>quantity
>those national ideas
oof
start over

Since when can't you move your capital?
You're not referring to a change from years ago? because those have work arounds

>have fun when Spain and the UK want to tag team you though
It's actually not hard to deal with.
You may lose 1 war where you lose like a province or two, which you kinda want, then you reform and become unstoppable and can just gobble up all their colonials without any trouble at all.

It's still fun, but the european encounter isn't so hard.

in modern eu4, 5th idea group should almost always be humanist, because this is when you start blowing the fuck up with absolutism and raising autonomy becomes a big no-no

that one was great

a personal fav:
youtube.com/watch?v=t7s5Ua4etZ0&ab_channel=maktavishoo

>he didn't pick the best military group yet

>4x games
they're not 4x games, not the vast majority of them anyway

well in patch 1.27+ game devs said enough is enough no more teleporting your capital as asia country to australia so you get free trade company regions, so now you need to have 50+ procent of your core country in another continent (and something with culture with i don't remember corectly) before you can move your capital there.

>1.28
>Needs 50% of your development on target continent to move your capital there.
Ah okay, that makes it a little trickier.
Doable, but can't go for the oceania cheese as manchu anymore.

Though it lookes like they removed the only stated requirement if the wiki is to believe, concerning non colonial regions.
so as long as you blob into europe as manchu and get 50% there, you can move cap, then blob into china and turn it into a trade company region.
So the other manchu cheese is easier.

this is one of the super strats for one of the indina achievements.

i think its the one where you start as a timurid vassal and need to take all of india by a certain time, you first go north to move your capital to europe then you can trade company the entirety of india

Playing as an Ashlander is pure ass.
You can't adopt feudalism because you're under a Theocracy. And unless the entirety of Tamriel attacks Morrowind, you stand no chance at independence.

>WORDSWORDSWORDSWORDS
>EPINGROSSEPICSTYLEGREATERGERMANY!!1!

64 bit upgrade

How will this affect the game?

Better performance.

t.alex

okay, here is a scenario thats pretty fun. Play as Provence. Provence is fun strat because you start allied to France and Austria has very favorable relations to you. You can use this to join the empire. Once you join the empire conquer Italy switch culture and form Italy. You also have the same dynasty as France so when you become strong enough you can attempt to PU them.

Provence is a nice fun play.

You can also form Jerusalem as Provence I think.

>not playing based aederic human merchant princes
For shame.

>only that many TPs

Why aren't you stealing them from Venice? You can steal all the trade posts you want from other republics.

>You can steal all the trade posts you want from other republics.
I legit ever knew that so thanks user. I thought I was limited by the amount of adult males in the dynasty. I have to use seducer focus on every character and I'm pretty sure the game is limiting the other males in my dynasty from having children. About 75% of them don't have any children unless I start cucking everybody.
I've got about 40 tradeposts now you can see some in How do I steal from Venice just declare war on them? I think I did that once but I sieged down the trade post and the war ended inconclusively.

COME ON
