How would you make this series work on console while keeping the map making fluid?

what?
The series is dead sadly. Nexus was a good conclusion though. I'm happy we got so many great games.
God, 5's day town theme was pure sex to the ears.

Go back in time and make a wii-u title.
Since when? I thought we heard a switch title was in development?
Yeah it aint gonna work without the touch screen. Game cannot be the same.
source? Don't play with my heart user
i thought it was a mediocre finale game. i would rather have one final NEW game instead of cut/paste dude remember stuff. i think this could work on PC though, just have a window off the left or right that you can use the mouse on.
They are making a dungeon crawler but it might not be EO.
But the switch does have a touchscreen? Well you will have to buy a capacitive stylus if you want more precise drawing tho
Ship the game with a stylus or graph paper.
The game can probably have a minimap that you can expand and draw on with a button, it won't be as good as the 3ds but it probably will still work since the system does have a much larger screen
>capacitive stylus
>precise
We'll see at TGS 2021.
i wouldn't, might as well make it for PC or smarthpones[/spoiler ] since the handhelds are dead
We don't without sacrificing a lot. The truth is the DS line should've continued somehow but sadly it's dead
Speaking of which, why the hell did they give it a touchscreen? I've literally never used it. Most people play in docked anyway and without a stylus it's not accurate to really draw anything. They could've bumped the price down a bit by simply not having a touchscreen at all
So they could rebrand it as an update to the DS in the event the console didn't see support. They could then switch tack to casual games like Brain Age and hope it sells that way. Plus, easy porting of phone games.
But they haven't done any of that, have they? Are there any games that actually use it in the core gameplay? Maybe they planned the lite all along and are going to start pushing touchscreen stuff? Anything about the lite coming with a stylus of some sort?
>Are there any games that actually use it in the core gameplay?
I still haven't played mario maker
I don't care about mapmaking - at least not the autistic "draw every floor tile and wall" shit.
Just let me add my own markers and that's enough. I'm here for the dungeon crawling and FOEs, not the cartography.
Have a free phone app that syncs with the game and acts as the map screen
Bump
Maybe an overlay map diablo 2 style. They're fucked no matter what they do though, the series was made because of the DS's two screens.
If you use the map making fluid you're a fucking casual
>if you use ink you're a fucking casual
Am I supposed to only use graphite, charcoal and stuff ike that?
>Nexus was a good conclusion though.
Nexus needed more time in the dev oven.
There's nothing but a teaser trailer. SQ is EO's Japanese abbreviation and there's not even a platform mentioned
>5 headstones for the 5 party members
>5 headstones for the 5 numbered games
>”SQ, to the next stage”
Well fuck
>you play the game on a console/handheld and you have an app on your phone that lets you draw the map
Considering it's nintendo and their love of gimicks it's not that impossible. also the app costs real money so fuck you because it's still nintendo
Atlus.
Split the screen in half so that the map is on one side and the gameplay is on the other. Let players choose which is on the left or right. I'm assuming it'll be on Switch so I guess they could use the touch screen for map drawing. There could also be a button for drawing in front of you and then you select what tool is equipped. Like each time you face a wall you tap a button to draw the line but can switch what the button does like draw doors and stuff.
A swing and a miss.
I don't see it entirely impossible. Perhaps moving away from the simplicity.
I wouldn't mind having a button dedicated to going to a seperate screen with a highly detailed map where you can draw shit beyond lines and squiggles. Actually get the idea of charting maps and designing them while maintaining the same dungeon crawling gameplay.
Making it more detailed could even ease the idea of the handheld series becoming a console series.
They said that EOX was the last game that would have mapping like we know it now, which was why they said that they would pack the game with so much to map that players would be sick of it by the end. This just points to it being a normal crawler with a map in the corner more than anything.
Remove map making to canibalize the audience.
I'd buy it though because I love the games but hate making the maps.
It's a dungeon crawler but it's being rebranded. I'll be fine if they keep Himukai though.
Himukai, Koshiro and Nagasawa are the holy trinity. If it doesn't have them it's not EO.
>Docked:
automapping by default
>Portable:
just use the touchscreen
>Docked (optional):
Phone app that syncs with a game. The problem is it's literally worse than WiiU: you gotta look up at the TV screen and down at the phone screen, while juggling phone and gamepad/jopycons. Very inconvenient and no one will use it.
>Docked: optional
Use joycons to draw on the TV screen. Problem is theres no sensobar, so it's extremely inprecise.
That's all terrible.
no shit sherlock, but dropping mapping altogether is worse
How well do these games emulate? The series seems interesting but I don't have a 3DS or DS
They should release them on PC since it can easily be transitioned.
I couldn't give less of a fuck about the mapping tbqh.
it emulates badly because a large part of the game is mapmaking with the touch screen
split screen that you can minimise down when you want to drink in the visage of your doom.
A minimap that you can blow up sounds like the best suggestion, along with some really intuitive controls.
The game coming packaged with graph paper and pencils sounds like some 10/10 shit though.
It's actually very doable with a mouse, don't know what you're on about
