I don't think Itagaki wants to work with Nintendo ever again. They fucked him really badly with Devil's Third, by not wanting to publish the game on the west and by barely advertising it.

Got fucked over by his company to push out a game he had passion on like his first and it still turned out great. Then leaves out of spite and THQ goes bankrupt like 50 times and he only puts out garbage because he has to give people something.

Devil's Third was an amazing game but the license ran out for the wii u version's multiplayer (the best part of the game)

Kamiya is alright, when Itagaki told him his games were shallow Kamiya went on to make Bayonetta which strives on enemy aggression. Great games all around.

What fucked over Devil's Third was THQ's bankruptcy since they were the original publisher which is why the had to partner with Doobic that ALSO went out of business. So they pushed it to Nintendo in an effort to at least get it out. The development was fucked from the get go due to shitty publishers

I suppose some good came out of it, like Bayonetta and W101's cinematic, setpiece-y boss fights and sequences, which were always better than GoW's, and NG2's OTs.

Their game engine provider had gone bankrupt during dev time, they had to rebuild the game on another engine. EVERYTHING went wrong with Devil's Third unfortunately

I still contend that NG2 actually had better combat than Black, it just was wrapped up in a bad, unfinished game. Assuming the game was finished, it probably would've been almost as good as Black, with the only real flaw being the linear levels.

NG:DS is also surprisingly good for what it is as well. Despite being a gimmicky handheld game, it actually feels like a 3D NG.
