Japanese """"""cinema""""""

Why can't Japanese people act?
Not a racial thing, but every live media that comes out of Japan is overacted and half the people who are famous don't deserve to be famous.

that was kind of cute. i'm not into doramas because i'm not a fucking faggot, but i think i could watch something like this ironically.

>weebs think this is cool

Japanese movies have the most soul.

it's supposed to emulate anime

Everything about their mannerisms is so unnatural, like that alien wearing the dude's skin in the first MiB

Japan has attractive people but why is their standard for 'attractive people' so bad?

The people they deem attractive are so ugly.
Korea has it set for attractive Asians. Pic related.

can't tell if this is cringe or just autism

Based.
Tell your girlfriend's boyfriend I said hi btw.

his eyes are fake right?

top fucking kek

This is low budget and clearly played up. Look to Japanese cinema if you want to see good acting, just like in Korean media.
>doramas because i'm not a fucking faggot
he doesn't watch the subversive east asian dramas with his girlfriend and have strong opinions on the business at large
the only faggo is you, friend

But that's Stephen Chow.

Kim Taehyung is all natural, other than obvious stage makeup/contact lenses. His voice is also insanely deep.

She should be taught a hard lesson for doing whatever she did.

because japanese acting is very based in theatrical acting
this is a chinese movie
he's korean everything is fake

kek

i don't have a girlfriend. can you recommend a good japanese dorama like OP's webm?

Surprisingly, no one in BTS has had anything done. They were really small when they debuted so they couldn't have afforded any kind of plastic surgery. Not like they need it.

Boku no Ita Jikan (The Hours of My Life)
It's about a guy with ALS trying to peacefully spend his last days. It's really sad

I used to think they were all just shit at acting (many of them are), but some of them are pretty good. The thing is that japs seems to love this kind of gay “real life anime” overacted cartoon garbage approach to film making. If you watch a more down go earth movie like one directed by Hirokazu Koreeda (After the Storm, Nobody Knows, Like Father Like Son etc.) you’ll see that Jap actors like Zane Hiroshi and Masaharu Fukuyama are actually capable of giving very convincing, realistic performances. Then you watch something like Galileo or Kekkon Dekinai Otoko and you’ll see the same actors giving absolutely retarded cartoon man performances. It’s a stylistic thing.

I studied in japan for 4 years and I always used to ask Japanese people about why they liked certain films. They seemed consistently shocked that anyone would want to watch a film that was realistic or down to earth. They always said “it’s a movie” when you asked why things were so cartoonish or over the top. For them, that’s basically the standard of how these things should be. There’s still a lot of really excellent Japanese cinema but none of it is mainstream to any degree.

I knew it was coming but shit still made me chuckle

whats the movies name?

>Zane Hiroshi
Fucking autocorrect. Abe Hiroshi.

Thanks for the recommendations and insight. Will check them out.

that one is From Beijing with love, I believe
thanks bro i'll check it out

Not that user, but what's your thoughts on Sion Sono? I feel like he does these over-the-top acting/screenplays pretty well.

Most plastic surgeries are a pittance compared to other parts of the world in Korea.

get fukkin rekt kiddo

>Like Father Like Son
Made me cry for like an hour user

They all look the exact same predebut as they do post.

Christ don't you fags even know what kabuki theater is?

>From Beijing with love
that's it, thanks

>They always said “it’s a movie” when you asked why things were so cartoonish or over the top
Interesting. I've only watched a few and they were mostly crime films, so I didn't really notice.

>stupid gun!

KINO

Japanese acting is a theatrical, western acting is realistic. Also fuck realistic acting, its time to go back to theatrical acting.

It's not emulating kabuki.
t. went to kabuki once

Did they literally find some people off the streets to do this

The point is that japan historically heavily favors over the top acting and that it isn't because of anime or modern culture!

it's clearly meant to be a gag user

They clearly can act, they just aren't acting like you're used to. Why are you so stupid?

Strangely enough some slice of life anime like Only Yesterday captures the soul of everyday realism better than any actual realistic film i seen.

This looks awesome. What's the movie called?

He used to be my favourite director, but I’ve rewatched Love Exposure since learning Japanese and found it a bit less enjoyable. Some of the acting is a bit too cheesy even given the context and the different actors arent matching their level of cheese to one another. Still a good movie but 4 hours was a bit of a slog on the second viewing.

He’s certainly the best at making movies in that over the top style though. My favourites are Noriko’s Dinner Table, Love and Peace and Why Don’t You Play in Hell.

If you’re interested in checking out some modern Japanese films I really recommend Rebirth (2011), Nobody Knows and The Light Shines Only There. Maybe check out All About Lily Chou Chou, but your mileage may vary.

If you’re looking for something a bit more stylised check out something by Shion Sono, or maybe give Shin Godzilla a watch.

It's the same kind of person that plays a jrpg and complains about the lack of american humour or mannerisms.

STOP MAKING KAMEN RIDERS

I heard Shin Godzilla was incredible. Thanks for the list.

Why would they do that, shit prints money (unlike sentai lol)

The Lion King

so funni xD

>looks like a girl
>attractive

I always wondered why a channel like Adult Swim doesn't produce a sentai show by some japanese auteur. Sentai seems to be done with a moderate budget.

Watch After the Storm, Still Walking or Chronicle of My Mother if you want something slice of life/down to earth. Similar vibes to only yesterday. Also Tokyo Story if you don’t mind older films.

You got a problem with jokes user?

Japs should go over the top, Shin'ya Tsukamoto is fucking based

>perfect blend of manly and feminine features isn't peak attractiveness

toku like sentai/rider is weird in that it's made on no budget but you have to put a lot of care into the craft to really make it work and I don't think someone like AS would be willing to go that extra step.

No one but the most basic bitch fujos give a shit about kpop boys.

It’s a good commentary on the Japanese government and the amount of bullshit beurocracy that goes into everything. I saw it in theatre outside of Japan and got a lot of laughs out of it but the rest of the theatre was dead silent, so either everyone missed the point or I’m an autist. Maybe both.

I want K-pop niggers off my board.
