Yea I like it a lot, think a more grounded Witcher 3 with a battle system like Mordhau. It also looks amazing, very comfy.

I mean tbf medieval countries were constantly at war with each other. Combat and sneaking was just a part of life.

It's fun, but you need some decent hardware or you can look forward to a slideshow, it's pretty heavy on both CPU and GPU.

When I played, there was quite alot of glitches and bugs but nothing gamebreaking, combat feels very awkward untill you nail it.

It feels clunky in the beginning because your swing speed is slower and defense techniques are far worse. Once you get those up, combat is almost brain dead easy against one person. Against more than one opponent is still really clunky though.

Yep, the power curve goes from "can't do shit" to "invincible" when you learn master strikes. Equipment only keeps you alive if you fuck up, or kills enemies in less strikes. At any rate you can buy the best weapon (bailiff's mace) very early if you beeline for it

You don't even need to buy it. There's a road on the west part of the map going to skallitz where there is a battle event. All the guys there have full plate armor and really good weapons. If you have a horse you can pretty much just get free endgame gear.

also in terms of realism the game makes very arbitrary decisions, being very realistic in a few very annoying things like getting dirty and extremely unrealistic in actual important things like how actual combat and armor works

overall, unless you are some kind of medieval enthusiast, it's not recommended
the game mostly got popular for its marketing, which consisted of some guy rambling about niggers and sjws on twitter, which apparently worked to a degree

No, the quests and choices you can make are all fucked up. The game has HUGE amounts of content that can only be accessed by the exact right quest progression, even if two arbitrary things were done in the wrong order it won't work.

For anyone that thinks I'm lying, just try and get a lockpick in the tutorial and see how many times you fuck it up. Or, try to reconstruct that ancient religious sword and realize that you missed your shot to grab a piece during some completely separate random character interaction. So fucking dumb.

It was a little disappointing how much the bottom fell out of the difficulty curve so early in the game. Once you learn master strikes and perfect counters, there's very little that stands in your way at that point. Especially if you take that perk (I think it's called "Head Banger" or something) that kills dudes in one hit.

Save scumming is just when you repeatedly reload your save whenever something bad happens.

There's both polearms and warhammers in the game. In fact, the warhammer is the best weapon to use against guys in plate.

Great game, there’s some jank to deal with but the atmosphere is unbeatable. There is no better RPG if you have even the slightest interest in historical medieval Europe and I enjoyed every minute of the time I spent playing it. The combat is odd at first but you’ll soon settle into it, overall it’s a fun as fuck and fairly unique experience as first person RPGs go.

In my experience no, the combat system is fundamentally broken and after a while it takes no effort to take down large groups of the strongest enemies, at which point you can easily afford all the best items, and then you feel like theres nothing to do in the same. Story isn't bad but its a bit disjointed and feels really lacking outside of the main quest. It falls quite short on the medieval life simulator aspect, and instead its just a sort of cheap copy of the Witcher with slightly more realism, really good graphics, and a weird experimental combat system, but without all the cool stuff that makes a game like The Witcher interesting.

Where should they have drawn the line between realism and convenience?

It's somewhat realistic that you can btfo a bunch of peasants when you have a full suit of armor and a decent sword, though.

It's pretty neat if you're a history buffoon. My beef with it would be the lack of replay value because the game expects you to do a bit of everything and level all the skills, so you end up experiencing pretty much all content and gameplay features on your first playthrough. While quests often have different outcomes there isn't much mutually exclusive content like different factions to join. The main quest itself is also very linear and the story ends unfinished with a sequel hook.

Most of the DLC is also pretty ass with them being short quest chains or other little collectibles and mini-games like an arena, rather than proper expansions. I'd only recommend A Woman's Lot because apart from quest chains it also adds a dog companion and a new skill with its own perks to go with it, meaning it's something that's relevant through the whole game.

There's a perk that makes women 50% less resistant to your persuasion attempts, plus another perk that makes you have 5 more charisma with women if you don't wash yourself. You don't need to rape, because you can spec Henry to become irresistible to women.

It's called Stinger, or Lonningus. Either of those swords have massive pierce damage.

Don't forget Troubadour perk also makes all bathhouse services free of charge, including the wenches.

Because there's no incentive to go to the next game if there's good mods out there.
The only incentive to go to the new game would be if there was a new mechanic, new weapons, or for the story.
Granted the 2nd one will probably be set in the future, to allow for more weapons.

I got the game with all DLC from fitgirl. I really like it, because playing for the first time with the extra Nick knacks just adds to the experience. The arena was fun to do on a spur of the moment, for instance.

Also people (including myself) have said the combat gets easy late game. But I actually just got killed by a bunch of bandits that I was trying to use to damage my armor so I could repair it for the buffs. They totally surprised me with how fast they turned the tables by using spears.

Spears are the meta weapon. Spears win fights, which is why english longswords were made. Even then, a spear has a significant advantage over a sword unless the sword user has a shield, but that's why they called them bastard swords or hand and a half swords.

I think that's why you can't carry Spears in your inventory, too. You can only pick them up and you have to drop them to do other stuff.

Bows are OP as fuck if you mix them with poisons m. Making potions is witchcraft, so it's technically magic. I typically use a lower powered bow so I can draw it fast and hit people point blank. The arrows have paralysing poison, so even if the first shot doesn't kill them, I can easily out run the first guy I shot and hit the second guy.

You can fuck various women, including bathhouse wenches, some chick from your childhood, and a married noblewoman (get her preggers too) , but it's fade to black scenes.

I remember several reviews from this game really raved about how learning skills such as reading was quite the endeavour, and it sounded kinda cool so I went and got it. Overall I liked it quite a bit from a lot of the other aspects of the game but bitch it fucking took like 10min to learn how to fucking read which was disappointing as hell.

Absolute dogshit and I regret playing it. Full of bugs, combat sucks, story is hard to follow when its just your character making stupid decisions, and conversations are boring as hell.

The only thing that made The Witcher 3 (remember the "3" user, there are 3 games in the series) interesting was the writting. The combat is reduced to spamming ligh attack and most of the time you'll be staring at the minimap while auto-running. What made the series interesting was the preparation before battle and they got rid of it after making the stupid decision of going open world.
