Smash bris DLC

I have a shortlist of what I think are the likely candidates:

Crash, Rayman, Spyro, Lara Croft, Doom Slayer, and Ryu Hyabasu

I think Geno suddenly has a strong chance again after I had initially written him off after Hero's reveal.

And I do think we get a final bonus fighter who will be Sandbag, from the Smash series itself.

I don't know why but I hate that up special so much.

well lucky for you I'm changing it in an updated version of this moveset. Up and Side special are getting replaced. Up will probably have something to do with the crow and side special will use pyromancy, with different type of pyromancy moves being used depending on which direction you move the control stick after activating the move.

Hell, as it is I can visualize a possibility in how Assist Trophies could become fighters, and here is how: if an assist trophy was desired enough to be a fighter, they could "graduate" the character into a fighter and give him a whole new moveset, meanwhile the affect of the assist trophy stays in the game but is replaced with a different character as the assist trophy. For example, if they wanted to put Bomberman in as a fighter, they could replace his assist trophy with Max (from Bomberman and Max games) who has the same effect as the current Bomberman trophy. Isaac could graduate and his assist trophy could be replaced with Felix or Matthew from the Golden Sun games, etc etc.

In that same spirit, a fighter making it in that already has a standard spirit could then have an additional fighter spirit added in when they get added into the game, that really shouldn't be a deal breaker by any means.

Crash is definitely one of the last two. I can see a Capcom/Bethesda rep being the other.

I'd say either Leon(RE4 specifically)/Jill or Dovahkiin would be most likely. Nips love Skyrim, normies love Skyrim, and his moveset basically writes itself with shouts.

that's a cool idea too. For the crow, I'd imagine it'd work like Corrin's Up Special, only without the water and maybe focuses more on going farther than dealing much damage. Maybe the CU could curl up into a ball during it too, lol.

yes, that seems to be the case, as Spirits very obviously do deconfirm. Why would nintendo ask ubisoft for a rayman spirit in the base game, then suddenly turn around and say "we want him to be playable now." Why not just make him playable from the get go? How are they going to address the already existing spirit of him in the game? Do they remove him and delete the progress people have made with him and rip him out of the already finished story mode? that obviously won't happen, and it'd be stupid to do that. Do they just not give him a fighter spirit, since there is already a regular one in the game? they can't do that, otherwise there would be no reason to do his classic mode.

Additionally, Piranha Plant did not have a spirit in the game before release, meaning characters without spirits are the only ones eligible.

EVEN STILL, Reggie has already state that characters that are new to the series will be in the DLC fighter pass. Rayman would not be new, as he has been in Smash 4 and Ultimate already, he is not new no matter which way you spin it.

assists and spirits can't be fighters, at least not in the same game, because sakurai did not want to make them a fighter, nor could he visualize a moveset for them. If he made them an assist or spirit, it means he didn't want them to be playable, meaning they will never be playable in that game.

We've had 4 DLC fighters announced and this therefore sets the rule? Spare me the rest of your spiel with that premise. There is no rule set in place. Hell, it would seem logical to think that the last 2 fighters in the fighter pass are 3rd party as well given that the first 3 are 3rd party fighters. But again, this isn't a set rule, this is just a pattern that we seem to think indicates what the future has to bring. But to think this definitively is the case could be a very naive thing to do.

Tetris does deserve some more love in Smash, it's great that it has a music track or two in there, but it could really go for a stage or an assist trophy too. A fighter like that would be really neat, but I also have to doubt a fighter that odd will be a part of this fighter pass.

Sakurai literally explained that Spirits lost their physical forms and could never become fighters in the infamous 11/1 Direct.

I think it's naive to be sure about anything when it comes to this stuff. Sakurai loves to surprise, so he likes to set the stage and make you think you have an idea of what is to come and what can't possibly come, only to surprise and shock with what is actually happening after all.

I have to doubt it. It'd be pretty scummy to add a Mii costume for a character not in the game that you have to pay real money for. To then only later drop that same character as a full fighter and charge for that as well. Sure, not all gaming companies are against such kind of microtransaction practices, but Nintendo tends to be good about this kind of stuff, and we haven't yet seen such a move in the same Smash title.

Controversial opinion: I don't think we need another Smash game beyond Ultimate. They could instead indefinitely update the game, and make it compatible with future hardware. Have more fighter passes in the future, add new modes via updates, etc. etc. As such I could see the likes of Conker get added into Smash, but not for some years, after more fighter passes.

If, however, they find a way to drastically change up the game as like a spinoff or something, I could see that getting a separate release. Like if they ever wanted to make a Smash Bros game in a 3D arena where you fight in a 3D space instead of on a 2D plane, I could see that be a thing.

It seems likely it will be compatible with the Switch library, and in theory they could give the game a patch that detects if it's on the new hardware and take advantage of what it might have to offer like 4K (we see this already with games that can run on both a standard Xbone or Xbone X, so this seems highly feasible).

Do people really think these kinds of images mean anything? The Switch is already hacked, it isn't hard to swap out images within the game's code to display other things on a Switch. While I haven't hacked my Switch, I did a lot of this very thing on the Wii U when I was compiling a modpack for Smash Wii U.

Yeah, but just as most people consider Bayonetta a Platinum rep, but is technically a Sega character, it isn't hard to see where these thoughts come from. Just as many might consider Doom Slayer a Bethesda property, he is obviously an ID property in all reality.

As someone who would like Master Chief in Smash, but recognizes he's not likely to happen, I'd absolutely take the likes of Doom Slayer in his place any day. At the end of the day they don't look that aesthetically different, and their selection of weapons would likely be comparable in terms of overall effect.

Ryu Hayabusa is the most DESERVING character, however this whole DLC season have been more of a crowd pleaser than anything, so I dont think he is in, sadly.

Bayonetta 2 came out at the same time as Smash Wii U, long before being released as DLC for the game. So it makes sense why there was an influx of demand for her at that time, especially with 2 being exclusive to Nintendo.

Rool's producers, they funded his creation, but the actual creators of him were people in the West of Western heritage. If I commissioned someone in Japan to paint me a picture that I would then fully own as my own, I would never for a second try and claim that since I own it, it was somehow a Western creation despite it obviously being made by someone in the East that I paid to make it.

I think anything is possible. They've painted a picture where we think that spirits or assist trophies are off the table of becoming a fighter (or assist trophy in the case of some spirits) via future updates, but I don't see why they can't surprise us as they like to do with this series. Of course if an Assist Trophy were to become a fighter, they'd have to remove or replace the trophy to avoid confusion in battles. I saw someone else suggest the idea of graduating an assist trophy and replacing the trophy with a similar character that performs the same actions, that would work for me.

I've seen that supposed leak a few times. I don't buy it. Perhaps it will be something like that, but they sure are making it seem like the entire Fighter Pass are 3rd party fighters. They certainly could surprise us, but I'm doubtful on this one.
