What a brilliant game, Alex is actually a good dev.

Is there a list of all unique IBB ships?

I don't believe you, screenshot where?

Just dropping by to remind everyone that Odyssey is best girl

Okay, downloaded now. Any particular places you want them to play? I noticed you said surface formations for battles

she looks like a fucking dragon dildo lmao
Odyssey [BD] when?

Attached: BadDragon.png (300x300, 33K)

Dassault-Mikoyan ships are sexy af

>just starting out on a new save
>official core worlds and faction relationships
>only way to make money in my sector is beating up the shitty pirate fleets from the small pirate base 5 klicks out
>or wait a month for my commission
>every survey mission is 50 light years away just for 70k or something
>would cost almost as much in supply and fuel to get there and back

how the fuck do I make money in early game wtf
My first save I had randomized sectors and got lucky with 7 factions all at war with each other in one system and made millions in the first couple hours just smuggling shit.

>want to play cool space game
>Can't process past desperately jumping from system to system looking for delivery missions which seem to be rare asf
>By the time I find one I have to spend all my profit on supplies

And repeat. Am I just retarded or is the game meant to have a fucking slow start?

What are the best modded ships? I've had enough of these hegeshits, and paragons have more cons than pros.

Worship the Endless in hyperspace
Rest I'd say goes into exploration music

First time playing this type of games? You always start out like that. Build your fleet, get moni, get better ships, get moni, start doing bounties, get moni, trade a lot, get moni, establish colony, lose moni, get wiped out by REDACTED.

Warships have to look phallic. If your ship isn't at least slightly penis-shaped, you're probably a homo

Too late, started a new game because I fucked myself over.
DO NOT SELL BLUEPRINTS ON THE BLACK MARKET

>friendly faction fleets 50000 miles away magically know you turned your transponder off for 5 seconds to trade

This is actual bullshit

Okay, I should have the mod ready by the end of the thread?

Any preferred distribution platform?

>he struggles to make money in the early game
Sucks to suck I guess

>Odyssey looks like a dildo
>Paragon looks like an anus
Starsector R34 when

Don't look for missions. Find a system with multiple factions that hate each other in it and smuggle between them, preferably one with a pirate colony.

I really like Blackrock, and Diable's wanzer fighters are outrageous.

Your signal strength was probably stronger than your sensor strength. Gotta pay attention of that shit if you gonna do illegal shit.

Whatever you prefer. I still appreciate it greatly, you're the best man.

Attached: 1563101125484.jpg (930x930, 68K)

Go into an asteroid field first, remain still and make sure sustained burn is off. Then go dark.

It’s not unreasonable for the flight control in the port to communicate with the patrols.

You were probably in sensor range

hey hey people

Mayasuran Navy and SWP has some really cool ships that not only look great but are also pretty damn good. And they fit in perfectly with the base game, which is a massive plus

user that's not very helpful

I'm assuming you started playing Starsector with mods, specifically Nexerelin. Nex overhauls the game, and can be confusing if you don't have a clear idea of what you want to do. Play vanilla first in order to get the core mechanics down.
Otherwise, smuggling is super effective between Tri-Tachyon, Luddic Path, Pirates, and Independents.
Surveys are profitable not from the base reward, but the stuff you can get from what you surveyed (i.e. domain probes and research stations have some ridiculous shit)

Open mods/Ship and Weapon Pack/data/hulls and you can look at what ships are there. ship_data.csv is the full list.
data/strings/descriptions.csv has more information

Know to any mods that add music? Seems there's little documentation on the process, and the mods I did find that had music were taken down for copyright.

Just raid Raesvelg in Valhalla until you've stolen all the hegeniggers' blueprints and they're only left with the open source ships.

Is there anyway to false flag attacks in either vanilla or mods?

I want to masquerade as pirate and sack a core world planet to steal their shit without losing rep.

youtube.com/watch?time_continue=132&v=yVPgXKY6AxY

Sadly no, but if you don't have your transponder on the rep loss won't be too shit unless you spam the raids or get in fights with patrols.

>found a class v water world
>although it's the only planet in the system
>have pristine nanoforge, 2 synchrotron cores, a couple of beta cores
fug bros, should I just do it, although I only have 750k and my fleet isn't very good
But I also have a whole bunch of bps

fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=10985.0

If there are good systems in the same constellation sure

So say I raided the galactic fuel depot planet with transponders off while there's high pirate activity in the system, and made off with the synchrontron. How much rep would I lose?

Also will people become suspicious by the fact that I suddenly control like 70% of the global fuel market share?

>only have 750k and my fleet isn't very good
Pirates might shredd your asshole, but sure

Nevermind, there's a pirate base right in the next fucking system

Attached: 1562140292260.png (416x577, 316K)

This is my fleet so far, and I've got Moras, Gryphons, and Eagles available to buy while still having enough money left over to outfit it and have some left over in case of an emergency. I only want one. I'm kind of thinking of the Gryphon cuz I'd like to have it as my new flagship. I really like missiles. But I also love my hammerhead and don't think the AI will put it to work as well as I do. What should I get?

Attached: java 2019-08-26 13-57-50-08.jpg (1920x1080, 353K)

Raid with Transponder turned off is 3 or 5 rep loss, so barely noticeable. However, your raiding efficiency will be very poor if they still have working defenses

I'd say get the Eagly for some staying power, but the Gryphon can be really good if you know what you're doing. If you do get the Gryphon, try to get an Enforcer or two to tank for you

>game gives you neetbux

Kek.

But I feel like the early game goes too fast. I want to start off flying in the space version of a 30 year old fiat with a missing door and tires at risk of a blow-out. I want to build my way up from nothing. In the game as it is, you can get decent ships after a mission or two once those neetbux come in.

What type of ships are good for the player to fly? Seems like the AI just does a way better job at certain tasks. How can I best take advantage of controlling a ship?

Nex has some independent like starfarer option where you start with nothing but kite or something.

Decompiled the binary that the current system uses, it's just a json file pointing to the music files. Should be done in a matter of minutes.

>Nex
It's a vanilla start that you have to enable in a config somewhere.

Spacer start not enough?

Generally ship with most impact, because player can have much more skills that boost it further than officer and because AI is completely retarded in terms of tactical decisions - it can perfectly manage shield and flux and aim with unreal precision but can't get where exactly it supposed to aim for shit unless you oversee their every move. As a result you bring paragon into a fight and it decides to chase enemy afflictor half of it. Also AI is pretty bad at piloting phase ships and broadside ships.

Personally I give carriers or any kind of support craft to the AI, as well as fodder. I'd give anything with heavy PD to the AI, too. Any phase ship would be way better controlled by the player, and that's true of any ship, but the AI really has no idea how to use phasers. Anything with accelerated ammo feeders will let you dominate anything your size or slightly bigger, easily, and with a little bit of support like a PD frigate following you can let you do wonders when outnumbered. If you're putting pilums on something give it to the AI, but if you're missile boating you should probably pilot the thing, unless it's some kind of anti fighter missile boat or something with annihilators.

Anything is going to be good when you pilot it yourself. If you wanna prevent losses pilot something tanky and order your guys to follow you or stay a bit behind you and give them longer ranged weapons so they'll be more inclined to stay back. A Doom cruiser is totally broken in the hands of the player. Some mod ships like from BYD or Diable or Imperium are also amazing. Anything with a meme F like a hammerhead will let you beat the shit out of anything. You just gotta look for things that you're going to be able to personally put to work better than an AI, while making sure your AI is using stuff that's better for an AI.

It also kinda depends on what you're fighting. You could pick up a lasher while your AI has cruisers and destroyers and flank in a big furball and just blow up engines on big ships, while in the exact same fight the AI would do nothing useful with a frigate like that.

Thanks, user.

>buy drugs from tri tach
>take drugs literally anywhere else
>???
>repeat

Spacer start forces you to go meta, so it's kinda bad if you just want to play as a hobo.

porn mods when?

>that girl portrait
hol up is that a mod? i might need to play this game after all

Just found a derelict heron fast carrier, is it worth outfitting and building babbies first fleet with it? I have 2 hammerheads and a missile ship as well as a few little guys but flying around with this fuckhueg thing might bankrupt me

It's good but not worth to restore dmods because they are quite often for sale.

So far got

>main theme - main menu
>hyperspace - worship the endless

Still trying to find what generic exploration music would be under. "music_campaign" perhaps?

Is it possible to abandon a size 5 colony?

Let the stability tank, it will decivilize eventually.

Can I recolonize it later when I get better fleet and more funds?

And sorted.

Got a discord? I can pass it to you via zip file if so

Yeah. The exploration music is under campaign since devs call spacefaring

Thanks

Nope, sorry. I think you can drop it here or through mega or something. Maybe some other user will appreciate your work too.

Which is better Vayras or Nex?

Nex

>THIRD LEGION (XIV)
>IN SYSTEM NEXT TO PREVIOUS ONES THAT HAD LEGIONS
>ALL JUST NEXT TO CORE WORLDS
I don't even.

Go away. Come on you freak, just leave. Leave me alone. I HAVE TO SELL THESE FREAKIN MARINES AND ORGANICS JUST GO AWAY

I forgot my epic picture.

Based.

Should one bother with vanilla or get a few qol mods? Or nex?

Depends on what you want. Generally Nex makes the game much more dynamic with alliances and wars since base game is rather "dry"

The worst is that I'm doing buyless playthrough, so I have problem getting enough fuel for these monsters...

May I ask, what qol mods do you recommend?

Is it worth it to extract my own fuel in house, even if the planet has a 225% hazard rating? I just want my colony to be able to source all its own resources. Also, can you produce your own drugs, or will I always have to rely on trade for them?

Demon Core a cute.

what the FUCK do I do now? nuking the core worlds seems like a chore

Attached: screenshot002.png (1920x1080, 1.44M)

>Is it worth it to extract my own fuel
Yes.

Kek, the first thing I did after I fought a battle with a Paragon was shove that bitch in storage. My doom + fleet of carriers is twice as efficient.
Thanks.

If your rep is high and you just disengage and ignore them they'll usually leave you alone

Paragon is useful as anchor on the field against really serious enemy. For example carriers alone won't do shit against remnant ordo with 2 radiants, they'll just get dumpstered one by one if there's no ships that can fight this shit face to face.
Modded playthrough. Don't forget SWP, IBB has some good fights even for endgame setups.

Just take on delivery jobs, and be on the lookout for system bounties.

how come I halved my crew and yet I'm still paying for everyone? Or is it like recalculated every month?
Also, monthly salary of 10 credits, jesus christ, life must be extremely shitty for crew members taking the mortality rate into consideration

If you got rid of them on the 29th of the month, you are still going to pay full price for the month (well, minus 1 day).

>my super broken phase ship thats literally cheese incarnate is more efficient than pretty much everything else

real men just let the ai go bonkers and don't pilot themselves

Me and my "cooperative partner" hegemoney have a complicated relationship, they send expeditions trying to stomp down on my freeports.

And I ambush their colony fleets in hyperspace. I also used the nexerin agents to sour their relationship with every single other faction. Maybe it's time for me to cut the shit and actually declare war on them. I know you can get away with raiding with the transponder off, but what about invading?

Man, that butthurt shitposter on /ssg/ is really something else.

Yeah, thanks to him the thread is reaching /gsg/ levels of bad quality.

Is there no better feeling than outmanouvering REDACTED fleets, stealing all their AI cores and drugs from their space stations?

Hegemony are the biggest two faced faction in the game without a fact

>The most peaceful faction, holding up the law and fighting the evils of the sector
>The moment you become big enough to support yourself, they treat you like dirt, sending fleets to shut down your shit if you have even a single Gamma AI core, and send fleets to kill your trade fleet if you have a high enough market value in one of there many exports. Officers no matter what are always rude, and looking to loot shit off of you no matter who you are, even if you serve them

Fuck them, at-least Tri-Tachyon keeps a consistent jewish image, and the Persean League mind there own shit

My experience with this game is that as soon as I get stronger, everyone just constantly runs away until I spend more money money on supply than what I have to gain with the battle. And no, I don't even deploy everything.
It's just frustrating.

>and the Persean League mind there own shit
Implying they dont get as jealous of your colonies as everyone else

Do you carry large amount of ships you don't deploy around? Because AI mechanics of treat estimation are weird. For example I generally use fleet consisting of astral with couple cruisers and couple carriers, that can handle 90% of game's enemies but every single scavenger I pass by thinks he should fuck with me, because his fleet of Apogee and 15 combat freighters is really fucking huge and therefore he's more dangerous than astral with support.

I keep playing every game the same now
is there any tips before I get bore?

Compared to Hegemony they are tame, but they still bother you, they just don't pretend to be the good guys

>just installed an alpha core as administrator in one of my colonies
How long until I get caught?

Will I get caught?

about to buy my first Destroyer
do I get sunder or Hammerhead?

What's the best fleet composition for exploring and a bit of salvage? An Apogee, a few Mules, a fuel tanker and a salvage rig or two? Is that too many ships?

Hammerhead unless you somehow managed to grab a Tachyon lance already.

Depends what you plan to do with it.

>I want to play game because I am pedophile
Get help user

Mostly planetary surveys and a bit of opportunistic salvage when I can. I picked up a few lucky delivery contracts that payed 75k early so I wanna dip my feet into exploration a bit

Roughly how many marines do you need to launch successful raids against chicomoztoc? Assuming I have ground operations talent and support package from valkyries.

You could probably make do with small fleet of about 4 Shepherds, and possibly a Dram.

*real cucks

Even worse
>Fleet is too big to disengage
>If you disconnect you literally can't do anything but fight them
>If you fight them, you instantly go to war with their faction
That faggot with his two kite ships will gladly suicide into you to force a war. God damn those assholes.

The only faction that deserves anything else than saturation bombardment are the independents

Attached: 1558541752294.jpg (600x900, 87K)

Is it worth bringing a salvage rig? I started with the apogee and it has the scanning and salvage hulls which is the reason I would bring it, and it looks like the larger tanker has double the capacity for only a third more upkeep.

>pirate """armada""" thinks it's a good idea to jump my strike fleet because they have like 5 or 6 converted Atlas
Thanks for the fuel and supplies, I guess.

When you reach that level, any fleet that isn't at least several cruisers isn't worse fighting

You can use Salvage rigs instead of Shepherds, but keep in mind that they don't have any fuel or cargo capacity. So if you want to bring them you do need to bring freighters (like Buffalo) and a larger tanker like a Phaeton. You'll also need an escort since you can't as easily run away from everything.

I like it that the game doesn't gatekeep too hard by tying you down with grinding. In M&B, even if you know the best trade routes, you can never really make much money. For you to get good soldiers, you need to grind village relations or get more training skill. Even so the payoff is small.
In Starsector, even if you had a tiny shuttle, you can quickly make huge profots by selling expensive stuff like guns to the Path. Or take a loan and immediatly buy some Colossus, putting you on top of the trade game in less than 10 min.

Shepherds are objectively superior, they're not only cheap and have surveying equipment, they can also serve as nigger rigged carriers when push comes to shove

The Apogee looks like a utility ship, but it's actually an incredibly good ship for combat as well that you can get very early.
Put hardened shields on it and it becomes incredibly difficult to kill. Later give it a Tachyon lance and Squall missles and it'll easily take on much larger ships.

>get Interstellar Imperium faction mod
>seems like an okay addition, not obviously overpowered, ships aren't ugly as sin
>more dudes to shoot at in Nex
>avoid actually playing as them for the longest time because all of their ships look like kitbash shit
>not bad looking, just sorta generic with obvious official parallels
>finally find them in a randomized sector in the ass end of nowhere
>lots of missiles and explosive beam weaponry
>interest is piqued, decide to start a new save as them
>start out with the heavy destroyer
>comes stock with an "elite package" hull mod
>basically a super weewop SO mod and ammo feeder you can toggle on or off
>doubles your firerate, maneuverability, huge increase to flux dissipation while active
>basically cripples your ship until it dies if you use it too much
>clear risk/reward style
>overdrive warning siren grows louder and louder the closer you get to blowing out all your systems
>battles become a hot attrition match while I juggle flux/shields and overdrive
>careful attention to my redline while engaging multiple ships result in either curbstomping the enemy or being obliterated effortlessly
>everything comes down to my play compounded by deliberate and careful use of my overdrive
>one wrong move is the difference between popping 2 or 3 frigates and crippling a destroyer or rolling over to die
>love it all with no regrets

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 74K)

I agree Imperium ships are pretty fun, but
>not obviously overpowered
heh

Adding new ship/weapon mods to the game is savegame compatible, right?

Aye, actually finding the things ingame is another matter, but you can add. I wouldnt recommend subtracting any ship/gun mod.

If anything, you'll get caught by your own hubris.
don't try to remove it

Maybe they're there since the AI wars, instead of being abandoned back when the XIV showed up in the sector

For me, it's the journey of going from one shit-tier noble with a handful of based retards into a major military power that makes me loves Mount & Blade so much and replay it so many times. In Starsector, you are a major player an hour after you start.

>like missile
>get missiles boat
>they can never fight to those carrier because you simply cant get thu their PD or mass of fighter shooting down your missiles
>lack staying power as well

That's interesting, I didnt realize that. Seems like scanning planets is a pretty small game unless I make long trips and scan something like 20 or more, should I be scanning every planet I come across?

there's a skill upgrade that lets you do a preliminary scan of every nearby planet then you can just survey the ones that have a decent hazard rating

Gas and ice giants are basically never worth it, loads of supplies for basically nothing 98% of the time. The rest are fair game though

Have other ships shoot them until they overload

only if it's 5 supply to do so, survey data is free money but class I can be not worth the supplies required to fly towards the planet

Is there a benefit for keeping your colonies in the same constellation?

I know that keeping them on the same system help with their defense and growth, but do they interact with each other on different systems too?

Do pirates raid your colony if you are comissioned and friendly to them?

Want to roleplay as a pirate warlord raging chaos on the sector, and I'm wondering if I'll be able to set up a base without ruining immersion by fighting my pirate bros

colonies you own will attempt to import stuff from each before the core worlds, if these are in the same general area this works out better obviously due to their convoy's not having to move further/get pranked by hostiles

Do files have to be .ogg? I'm considering adding more of the endless space soundtrack myself.

Enforcer is much better than either of those

This is just what I've heard, but apparently your colonies will still have "Pirate activity", but it won't actually give you the stability+Accessibility debuff and you won't get raided. The thing is that they will still target non-pirate traders around your system and can potentially cause supply shortages.

Is there any benefit to positive relations with pirates and the Path?

Get a few frigates with sabots or autocannons to follow you around, or a couple destroyers with the same, and order them to attack whatever you want to target. They'll be able to reliably rack up enemy flux and then anything with 90%+ flux in your range is basically dead. A carrier with a bunch of talons would deal with enemy fighters really well.

They don't fuck with you

Your colonies lose accessibility based on hostilities, so if you're friends with everyone it equates to a big accessibility bonus.

interdict > burn

If you're looking to pick fights you should have at the minimum a burn level of 8. Ditch any ships lower than that or give then augmented drives. 10 would be preferable, but that's hard depending on how big your ships are.

It's not the starmap chase that pisses me off. It's the battle part.
If I'm not using a ship that's weaker than the enemy, they either instantly turn around and flee the battle, or I get kited for long enough to start costing a ton of extra supplies.

>get a yuge, probably unsustainable (at my current level) fleet to dab on derelict motherships
>finally dab on one
>it's barely worth it
I guess I at least got a nice amount of xp from it haha

Attached: 1561163659326.jpg (1060x404, 197K)

>more money on supply than I gain with the battle
That's pretty much always, battles are a bet loss. Don't fight battles you don't have stakes on

This isn't true at all. I started as a pirate and my relation with them is over 90, once in a while I still lose a trade convoy to pirate raiding. I'm also favorable with the path and I still have cells fucking with my colonies.

I would never bother with any of them for the reasons I just gave. You can trade with them easily enough just by turning your transponder off, they don't seem to care if they see you with no IFF. Once you get a colony you're going to end up having to blow up a pirate or pather base eventually anyway just because pirates will fuck with your trade routes or pathers will sabotage your industries.

How do you get an apogee? Been looking for it everyhwere , cant find it.

but I want to be a space pirate

Raids will still happen because of how the way the game is designed, but they won't fuck with your fleet in particular. It makes smuggling far safer and easier.

Perseans and Tri-Tahc sell it, also the Independents, but it's pretty rare on their markets

Try being a space Jew. Instead of attacking convoys to steal their shit, attack to disrupt their supply, then sell to them at inflated prices

Yeah

If you dump your entire fleet against a fleet that's smaller than yours, they're going to run. Either toss out a couple large ships and some destroyers to bait them into taking the fight, or use your frigates from the sides to tackle runners while your main force catches up. My flagship is pretty fast and I bring a bunch of destroyers with me so I can usually force an engagement while half the enemy fleet retreats. When I pursue in the next engagement I send all my lashers and wolfs to chase down whatever's left.

wait, if i take blueprint from a faction they can't make the ship anymore? isn't this illogical? they must have multiple blueprints

DRM bro

if i tactical bombard with my transponder off, will i take a big relation hit?

Yes

Good to know, time to plunder then

Neat, too bad the forums are against mods with copyrighted material. I'd like to see some of the more human Endless space Factions and ships here

Nah, it's just a prank bro

>buyless playthrough
are you a masochist by any chance?

You can upload them on /ssg/ I guess. It wouldn't be the first time game general has some mods of their own

I have been throwing around an endless space rehual in my head for a while. I'd have to learn how to do everything. The Vodyani feel like they'd be the most interesting to implement properly.

>just get into this game because of based Yea Forums shills
>love it, excited to see what future updates will bring
>find out the dev is slow as fuck

There is always a catch.

Worst part is that the next update seems like a bit a dud, when it comes to content
>Reworked skill tree
Yay.

>it's Java

You really think thats all he's gonna add

that sucks... i don't want to lose my marines :'(

It's the main focus.

Appro-Light translator here. Looks like there's a new update to Appro-Light (0.7.2 RC2). Seems to be a bunch of weapon balance changes and a few reworks. Also it looks like the Spectre Nest has been given a special planetary shield to double the effectiveness of it's ground defenses. If anyone has the ability to give me a copy of the raws that'd be great so I can get on the updated translation.

Why, because its the first thing that was posted on the blog after the update?
You do know that he releases more than one blog per update?

how about you start contributing something tangible to the conversation and tell us what you think is going to be in the next update besides that?

AI in ships for one thing, permanent hullmods and some officer changes for another, iirc

I wouldnt know, because I'm waiting to see the blog posts before I make a decisive claim on what the next update is going to be like
Dev has already added multiple changes per update that werent expected or covered before

Which one should I learn?
Conquest or Legion?

Attached: java_2019-08-26_19-45-58.png (2160x1200, 703K)

So shut the fuck up and come back to tell me I was wrong when he proves me wrong, you pedantic twat.

Learn the Legion
Sell the conquest to the pirates

Sure
See you in a year when the next update drops

All of them, obviously. Knowledge is power, you have to acquire all the blueprints

Yeah. Hopefully I'm proven wrong.

well Im already pirate but I guess thats good too
now my brethren can finally fight off those corp scums

also in order for pirate to learn the BP do you need to sell it on open market? or blackmarket is fine too?

Next update is gonna be 1.0, so there's no better time to go all out for this game

>"accidently" shoot them in the back with a reaper
Oops

Sell it on the black market

Do any Independent planets have heavy industry?

1,0 already? That seems a bit quick, there is still a lot stuff missing. From the top of my head
>Better combat AI (so that ships don't just get in the way of each other when firing)

>more in depth economy (more commodities would be nice)
>bookmarks
That sounds like way more than one update's workload.

kek just went to pirate base and sell my BPs to them
the BP just disappear right away the moment you click confirm so that you cant even buy it back

If you look at the release history, next update will be 1.0
Then again, it hasnt been stated to be the final update but its expected to at least put the game on a somewhat finished state

brainlet here, can someone explain the bonus experience he talks about in his update blog?

There are always three Legions(XIV) available in a new game. Blueprint is currently not available, not sure if bug or intended. If it's intended it was probably lost during the ai wars or something.

What happens if I take out a loan and fuck off to the other side of the sector? Will the investor send people after me to collect? How about if I saturation bomb the investors world?

What do you put in your Legion (XIV)? Ship/weapon pack mod or no

My dick

Bounty hunters will come murderize you

Can you make a profit farming bounty hunters?

I think it's only one fleet. I've managed to outrun them before and they just despawn. One day you'll be ganked by a huge fleet if you don't pay your debts but if you manage to survive somehow you're safe.

I am fighting one right now with 5 apogees and 7 dominators. They cant really win against my legion and 2 astrals.

Man, all the ones I've faced so far have at least 1 Paragon
