Playing the demo yet?
Playing the demo yet?
I finished it, took me almost 9 hours. I came out really impressed and I'm getting the game day one now, it was a bold move to let you play so much and one that should be done more often.
DQ11 has the luxury of being a massive game so they can get away with a huge demo. The full game is around 90 hours long, and that's before you consider the previously 3DS exclusive content.
I already played the PC version and I'm interested in the switch version for 2D mode but the demo doesnt have it so I'm stuck waiting for now
Haven't checked it out yet, does your save transfer to full game?
How are the japanese voices, if anyone is using those?
>Astral Chain soon
>DQ 11S and Daemon X Machina next month
>Luigi's Mansion 3 after that
>still haven't finished three houses yet
Bros... I can't keep up here....
No, I played it on PS4 and it was pretty bland. EDGE magazine was spot on when they gave it a 6.
What's different from the original ?
Yeah.
You don't need to play everything at launch you fucking retard
Stick to Trails of Cold Steel, tasteless-kun.
Never played Trails of Cold Steel. I don't like it when JRPG's have action combat.
He needs because he is a 4channeler
I'm in the same boat as you, but add in Link's Awakening next month and more in November, and maybe subtract astral chain and DaemonXMachina. I dont think I could confidently get this game even though it was mad comfy to play the demo. I should probably get back to emulating xenoblade chronicles..
Funnily even Rean from Cold Steel has more personality and character than Hero from DQ XI
I’m still going through 3 houses, and what’s worse is that wow classic comes out today. I have a lot of shit I want to play but no time to actually do it.
I'm still playing Dragon Quest V. I'll jump on XI when I'm done. I played a little ways past the demo on PS4, so I already know what to expect.
What will it have that the PC version doesn't have?
I didn't save the image.
The list seems to be translated from Japanese patch notes, which is why it has stuff like Furigana display and says dual-language options are only for the LE when it's standard in the international release.
Shit i imagine that none of that stuff is gonna come to PC right?
Might as well remove the game from my wishlist
From what I've heard, the Switch release is running on a newer version of the engine the game originally used, so adding the new content via DLC is very unlikely. We're more likely to see a second release on other systems like Dark Souls Remastered, but it depends on how much of this version was funded by Nintendo themselves. With the amount of marketing they're giving it, it seems like Nintendo has a lot of eggs in this basket for it to just be another release to them, and they've been responsible for localizing some of the games in the past.
>Game crashed after defeating the 2 gryphons.
>Haven't gone back since
It really pissed me off, but if these crashes keep happening in the full version I don't know about this anymore.
>MMOs
Just don't do it.
Never crashed for me. Sorry user
nintendoeverything.com
they are working on it
Ema is actually cute in JP
I recommend them
Haha. No
I'm interested in checking them out, but I don't know if I'd be able to deal with the voice going, "Ah! Sugoi!" with the subtitles reading, "Cor blimey, 'ave a butcher's a' that! She's a real beaut then, innit?"
I finished the game already 100% on PS4, but I intend to play it again on Switch to improve my Japanese. Why the fuck is it so expensive over there?
Playasia prices are mad, but even looking at amazon.jp it seems insanely expensive.
lol better get used to that weeb
Big games in Japan being $80-$100 is not unusual
I'm too autistic to play with the Jap dub because I know what the characters are saying in Japanese is different than the subtitles and it bothers me too much.
Well, at least with Nintendo it doesn't matter if you buy a game at Launch or 5 years after it's been out. It will still be $60.
I'm so fucking happy you guys.
I love Dragon Quest so much. Just love it.
This attention it's gotten since Smash... It's just unreal. I can hardly believe it.
Major streamers are playing the game. Every reviewer is playing it. Everyone is in love with the demo.
I know this isn't going to be a magic overnight rise to superstardom in the West, but still, our niche audience has finally become a respectable audience that Square won't have to feel cautious about localizing.
Everyone loves the game, it's incredible!
It looks like dog shit on 1440p monitor.
I'll wait for the sale, since I played it already.
I can't really tell bad Japanese voice acting from good but it sounds fine. It's mostly there if you have issues with the English I guess or you are someone that needs it in their Japanese games. Personally Erik and Gemma are the only voices in English that I have a small issue with. Erik with having a kind of New York accent but only slight which is of from the rest of the characters. And Gemma having the thickest accents out of any character. Besides those two (and Erik I got use to quickly enough) everyone else are great.
it's on a soi free system
Are there many extra quests in Switch version?
I hate the "comfy" meme, but this game is the epitome of the word.
Beat the game on PS4 last year. Until where goes the Switch demo? I heard it's pretty long. Do you get Sylvando in it?
probably
Ends right after you get Serena and Veronica. I haven't gotten there yet, so I don't know if it just ends there, or if there's a gate blocking the way to Gallopolis and you can keep playing in the earlier areas or what.
>Link's Awakening
If you dont then you cant come here cause fuck spoiler tags.
And that's a good thing.
there's a gate blocking the way to Gallopolis.
You can keep playing the earlier areas.
>Everyone loves the game
High praise =/= everyone loves it. It is a bit more successful than previous installments, but let's not get crazy. It has yet to surpass even Persona's popularity right now.
I dont think persona is that popular, it just seems that way around here because all of the residents "make a thread with a persona girl image" posters
Didn't know PC was "soi filled".
How? Zoom doesn't list Cobblestone as a place to travel, only Hotto. Is it just the region of Hotto that's explorable?
I never tried zoom desu. I assumed once I got it that I would be able to go back to the other areas. I guess that's not the case
waiting for the ultimate pc version
I got to the second dungeon (I think), how much more does the demo go for
The last dungeon in the demo is a ziggurat in a Japanese hot spring area.
then I guess I'm at it, thanks
I crashed during that fight, the autosave I had though was pretty close though
That's how it is in the full game too. You can't go back to the Heliodor region until later in the game.
Damn, rip bunny tails
DQ11 sold 4 million copies (of which 3.2 million were in Japan)
Persona 5 sold 2.7 million copies (of which most were sold in the west).
DQ is more popular, BUT only when you consider how massive it is in Japan. Outside of Japan, Persona is more recognized.
i finished DQV yesterday.
What a fucking KINO game.
>Forgot to save like a dumbass and lost a couple dungeons' worth of progress
>Reload my pre-marriage save and marry Debora
>Enjoying the game a lot more
how much booze do i need to acquire this level of delusion?
quest for every single party member and also the past DQ games quests (i think it's 3 for game)
I played it. Erik absolutely carried the team with the sleep inflicting skill. It even works on bosses
I spent the better part of yesterday struggling to make a decision about using Draconian Mode. I've never played this game but I'm a DQ veteran, so I just settled with the stronger enemies one.
>2.7 million copies (of which most were sold in the west)
source?
Never played a DQ game before but I'm playing the demo right now and enjoying it. I'm in Hotto and just beat the guy that turned Veronica into a loli. How much longer does it go on for? I'm about 5 or 6 hours in now and I don't think I've wasted a ton of time grinding. Does getting to the end of the demo completely cut you off or can you keep hanging around in the game and doing stuff when the limit is over?
So does the data still transfer over if you buy a physical version of the game or do you have to buy the digital version for the data to transfer from the demo?
Save data is stored digitally either way, so you'll be able to transfer it to a physical copy. It was the same with the Octopath Traveler prologue demo, also from Square Enix.
save data is always stored on the switch.
it does not matter which format you buy.
Why would I play a demo of a game I beat a year ago...?
You're done after the next few events in town, you'll be notified that the demo is over once you get to the gate in the south-western edge of the region and you'll be asked to make a save that can be transfered to the full game. Just make it in another save file so you can keep playing with your original file.
Yes
If you have a digital copy and a physical copy switch will play the game regardless
It’s actually really assuming
Are you unable to hear emotions?
Reminder that the default difficulty is journalist mode and individuals mentally older than 12 should be playing with hard monsters on
Is there any way to go back through the warp door thing and back to cobblestone? I haven't tried going back to that spot yet.
No, you can't during that part of the story.
Are you guys playing with english or japanese voices?
more costumes, more rideable monsters, orchestral soundtrack, the party follows you around in the overworld now, theres new difficulty options, new postgame, new individual arcs for each party member, 2d mode, the content from the 3ds version which includes visiting the worlds of previous dragon quest games and a whole lot of other shit i cant recall off the top of my head right now
Japanese voices. I'm not a native English speaker and subtitles in my language have different names for locations from both English and Japanese (and different character names from Japanese, though they seem to be the same as the English ones), so keeping everything straight is kind of a clusterfuck. Still, I like the seiyuu and Mitsuki Saiga in particular, shame she only grunts as the Hero.
cuz the progress carries over and maybe you want to experience the definitive edition
Is there a bestiary by any chance? This game feels like the perfect game to include one but its not in the miscellany tab
How're the docked fps?
If they're shit I'll just play on PC.
Haven't noticed any issues.
I really hope this means we get the next Monsters game they release or they port joker 3 to switch or something. DQ11 is my first mainline game that I plan on finishing. I dabbled in some of the earlier titles but Dragon Quest Monsters has been my fucking jam since the Gameboy.
why do characters look like they are from dragon quest
I thought Gemma's accent was cute. Erik was kind of hard to get used to since I'm constantly listening for slip ups from the American east coast accent back into the actor's natural English accent.
Can I switch difficulty after starting? Sounds like it's something you can only do when giving the hero a name.
Apparently the hero has a separate English voice actor, which sounds like a waste of money given that he doesn't speak words.
Is there any way to zoom the camera out? It feels a bit too close.
How's handheld mode?
A tad blurry but fine otherwise
bump
There's a monster list somewhere in the menu but I can't remember if it's a full on bestiary or not
I dunno why developers insist on putting tons of grass in games where the hardware obviously can't render all the grass and the draw distance for it is tiny.
Erik's accent is odd and Gemma's dialect is one of the thickest in the game, so it's understandable for people to have issues with those.
I'm a bit of the way into the game now and Veronica and Serena's english VA blew me away. Their actors did an extremely good job - it is very, very unusual to hear female VAs who know how to sound cute or speak in a pleasing way in english. Serena in particular sounds like Alice from the Alice in Wonderland movie from the 50s, it's just not something you hear anymore.
Not with that shit music, orchestrating turds composition sure don't turn them into gold, and the demo proves it
all of the draconian restrictions besides stronger enemies are pretty stupid. I beat the game with stronger enemies, no xp from lower level enemies and no fleeing battle and the latter two made little to no difference in the long run. Stronger enemies is almost required though. Completely changes how a lot of the game is and makes some boss battles crazy. Could be frustrating, but then I'd go out and explore the world and make new gear and do some metal slime farming and come back and scrape through. Very satisfying to stick with it until the end. I think people who don't turn on stronger enemies are genuinely missing out.
you can always switch to the dq8 soundtrack thats a thing in this version ya know?
glad to see someone else appreciating serena and veronica. Serena is particular was the one party member I didn't see any images or people talking about her before I bought the game, had no idea she was a party member so I was expecting her to be blaise. But then she turns into the best and purest party member with the best character arc and growth.
genuinely made me cry at pic related, which I wasn't expecting. The line delivery of youtu.be
Didn't download the demo but buying it anyway. Got it on PS4 but I want some of the changes and for it being portable.
Games without any grass definitely look the most dated now. It doesn't need to be absolutely everywhere, but since quite a lot of the world is flat in DQ11 it would probably end up looking even worse if the world was bald.
Veronica's VA reminds me of TV shows for children. It's perfect.
shit, meant to spoiler that image, sorry
It kind of doesn't seem like she should be a party member at first seeing how similar she and Veronica look, but she's very different from Veronica and has her own very nuanced presence. It's good shit.
Is it literally just the full first ~10 hours of the game?
no
I didn't actually check online when this came out, but did anyone say anything about the accents of Sylvando's Parade? I'm pretty sure that's the only part of the game with a (I think) scouse accent too.
y-yeah...
The game has an intensely charming sense of whimsy. I'm glad switchbros are getting a chance to play it, one of my favorite games I played this year. Everything from the character and monster designs, the writing, the voice acting and the story have the most quaint and fairy tale like presentation. Its a total joy to play.
>don't buy game at launch
>get around to getting it a year later
>all used copies are cart only
>CIB copy is $100
Only with fucking Nintendo amirite why the fuck is DQVI so rare now
holy shit this is atrocious. please tell me it is fake I'm literally at gamestop about to buy this, game in hand
Kek, its actually distracting
>Have like 8 new ultimate attacks from recruiting the twins
>Nothing to use them on because the demo is over
The game is only $50 on Amazon right now if you pre order
It's really boring.
Dragon Quest 4 was so fucking cute.
god, i want to ravage Veronica's ass.
More like 6-8 but yeah, basically the full game.
You just don't have access to the dlc (costumes) or 2D mode, but can just switch those on later when you get the full game
Number of hours really doesn't say much in this game. Up to what point is does this demo let you play?
Getting pure girl and cute toddler in the party then there's a textbox telling you that's it for the demo, you can keep playing around in Hotto region but no more new zones or plot
The full game is around 100 hours long
Punished Serena
A heroine denied of her sister
I downloaded it, started it up, saw how blurry everything was and how grass pops in like three feet away, and then deleted it. I'll just keep waiting and hope that the Switch content eventually comes to PC.
How are people saying the demo is 10 hours? I beat Jarvis & Friends in 5.
I meant for those 6-8 hours it's basically the full game, as in you have almost all features available
If it's your first time playing and you take your sweet time talking to all the NPCs and checking the overworld for items and leveling up in the first dungeon so you can fight the gryphons, I could see it taking ten hours.
I was about eight hours in when I beat Jarvis.
>third party port looks better than most first party games on switch
how did se do it bros
I would disagree frankly. Everything up to and including Jarvis is a tutorial, Veronica and Serena haven't even properly joined your party yet and you're only commanding Hero and Erik who can only do a couple things each.
When you go to Gallopolis is where I'd say the game really begins.
Are you actually autistic or something ?
"It's the full game" as in, you have access to everything as if you were actually playing the full game
Of course the first few hours of a JRPG are not representative of the full gameplay, but if you played the first 5 hours on the demo or the full game it'd be the same thing
Don't say I didn't warn you. - Veronica
- Serena
Does Exp go to inactive party members or do you need to rotate?
It's still the same flawed game it was on PS4 but I really like playing it undocked. Might actually buy it again when the Switch version comes out.
>Demo lasts 9 hours
What the fuck, I might download this on my switch right now
It's easier to hear when they're your own language.
Japanese voices sound like they're bored half the time.
Just got as far in the story as the demo will let me. What percentage of the total game is the demo? Like 10%/20%?
Yeah its actually fun as fuck. I may be behind the 10h estimate because im grinding bunny tails
Everyone gets full exp
Like 1% only barely exaggerating.
Sadly everyone gets exp even if they're not in your main team.
>sadly
???
It makes an already piss easy game even easier.
You're really reaching here.
If it ends where I think it ends, probably 2 percent.
Game is at the very least 100 hours long
>DQ11, a game that's been out for months
>Astral Chian, a platinum POLICE GOOD game with a shit story
>Daemon X Machina, a mech game with no story
>Luigi Mansion 3 a game for babies where spoiler alert they visit a mansion and wacky stuff happens, then they leave
>what are stronger monsters and minimal grinding?
There has literally never ever been a difficult dragon quest
That's true but this is somehow even easier than all other DQ games even with stronger monsters and no exp from low lvl monsters on.
How is the Japanese dub?
Are you playing with party command on?
It sounds like you've simply ramped up your difficulty level tolerance over time and no longer find certain challenging things challenging anymore.
Of course I command my own party.
Is it harder to leave them to the AI?
I'd call it artificial difficulty if not for the fact that you have to impose it on yourself for it to even happen.
I don't know about harder, but it definitely makes the game way more interesting when you can't command your party. Especially during some boss fights when you really need healing, and your healer decides to heal the wrong person.
You should really try playing with party command off.
Dilate
They're wonderful.
Played it and absolutely enjoyed this game. I like the light hearted feel to pretty much the whole game. I've been depriving myself of DQ if these are how their games usually are.
Not all of them, and I dunno if "lighthearted" is necessarily the right word, but for the most part, whatever feeling you're getting from this, that's a general thing in the series, yes.
The urn monster is a good example of what I mean. I get the feeling from that boss alone that they don't want you take the game so seriously on the surface what with his comical attitude and terrible puns.
Played it through on normal, found it far too easy. Then played it through with tougher enemies and enjoyed it much more; I even farmed those bunny enemies for 8 tails because I didn't want it to end.
Can't wait for the main game.
Did you miss the part about all the new features.
The acting is MUCH better than the English actors. However if you’re familiar enough with Japanese to understand some common words when spoken, you’re gonna notice the text boxes and audio are saying to different things. So that might bug some people (I like it actually since it helps me better learn the language).
*cough cough*
think I'll stick with art and visuals instead of soundtrack and waifu options k? thx
Your kinda right except for 8 that metal shadow bird Phoenix thing is bull shit
SNES 6 can be a bitch.
It goes from lighthearted to heartbreaking fairly often. You’re in for a ride.
keep bumping your shit thread op
Much better.
I got so sick of Gemma's CRIKEY and Erik sounds cooler.
I tried it in handheld mode and it nearly died two hours in. When I docked it to continue it crashed a little later when I met the innkeeper in the slums. Good demo.
Yep. Sorted by area and enemy type.
y so butthurt?
Turned on the lying one for a bit of fun. It's doesn't come up enough to be annoying and some of the lines can be weirdly funny. But outside that I didn't turn on the rest. Feel no shopping can be interesting since you can craft most of the best gears anyways so it's not that big of a deal. But the rest I most likely find too tedious to like.
Not going to happen, Nintendo bankrolled this one
Because only collectors buy that shit and everyone else uses emulators like a sane person.
Maybe it's for flashback as a child
Doesn't seem to be the case.
Remember there was no Japanese voice acting on the PS4/PC version. They they had to have a English voice actor for the Hero in that one even if they were just grunts. English voices just carried over to the Switch version.
Never thought about this, but in Japanese they wouldn't say anything even during battles? That'd feel really weird and quiet
i loved reading the descriptions
Yes. I have it on PC but I love this version more already.
Found out party members now say something in battle when you go to them and generally react more and move around. The resolution is meh and probably looks better on the Lite, but otherwise I have 0 complaints, it truly is the definitive edition.
The Bestiary is fucking lit, funny descriptions, animations, drops and all the good shir
They don’t really line up with the captions, but it’s ok.
About to head into the Manglewood and a friend told me you can go back and fight the dragon in the sewers right away. That true, and if so how do you get back there?
You reset the game, start a new file, and play up to where you leave Cobblestone. Then wait a few weeks for the full release since the demo is capped at level 20 which isn't strong enough to fight it.
Ah, I see. I'll have to strangle him next time I see him since he said the dragon's easily kill-able that early on.
>Go get me berries and holy water
And dropped
Fuck this shit and fuck RPGs.
I beat the demo 3 times already. Never ran into an issue. But i have the updated switch model. Maybe that's why?
You can't go back and fight it. But, you're not missing out on anything either
You can fight him normally much later in the game when you have access to the Heliodor dungeons again and you're naturally at the appropriate level.
beat the demo, apparently Hero and Erik was 1 level under level when I got the twins, sadly it ends shortly after that.
You can name your character whatever. Press X while on the character name entry screen to set up Drsconian settings. These settings make the game more difficult/tedious depending but can only be implemented at the start of a new game. They can be turned off at anytime at a church but can't be reimplemented
Played a couple hours, got done with the tutorial, and ran to the city. That's enough for me, I don't care to get more invested into it right now, knowing I'll be interrupted by two or three other games I want to play before getting to the full release.
That's a load. Wish I knew before starting. I've already gotten to the end of the demo.
>No shopping
That can work since 90% of the gear you get is with crafting
>No Armour
Wonder how well that honestly works. Kind of image you needed to really grind to get the HP needed to survive a lot of the attacks.
>Reduce EXP
Guess pick this or Super Strong but not both
>Shypox/Super Shypox
Recently played DQ3 with Jester and it's honestly the fucking worse. Only reason to even do it was to get 2 Sages and even than I will never be doing that again.
>Townsfolk lying
Trying it and it's weirdly nice. Doesn't pop up enough to be annoying and since it gives that curse sound effect you know it's just a joke so you can just talk to the NPC again for the real line they are meant to say.
>Protagonist wipe
Has that ever been fun in a game? I guess if you enjoy it in SMT pick it but I can't imagine anyone willing to pick it.
They’re super easy to find.
Where'd you find this slime? I saw them while running away from the dragon but want able to touch them in time
is it even possible to get metal killer before then?
>tfw wagecuck
>tfw got pulled over for going 6 over on a fucking highway
>tfw had to waste like $300 on their bullshit
>tfw couldn't pay tolls because of it
>tfw tolls add up to like $400
>tfw phone bill and other shit automatically pay themselves
>tfw bank charges me $60 for being over the limit
>tfw have like minus $400
It's a good thing I took a semester off from college, otherwise I'd be down a grand.
As the bestiary says the first chance to fight one is in the Gallopolis Region which is the desert area.
>The Communist Manifesto
You first encounter Metal Slimes in the Gallopolis Region where the demo coincidentally ends before you can reach. Metal Slime variants in Dragon Quest games typically give a ton of EXP, but have a tendency to run away and have very high defense.
Yeah i was a little pissed off too. But i just started a new save anyway since i also forgot to grab a recipe in Cobblestone and hunt for 8 Bunny Tails
Those things are so fucking cute and fluffy
Yeah. But I prefer my bunnies more horny than fluffy
Is there a cut off point for doing the bunny tail farming? I just got out of Mangrove but I want to play more of the story rather than farm right now.
I'm up to the point where I just got back after beating the boss in the cryptic crypt. How much longer can I expect the demo to last?
>tfw turn on all Draconian settings
There's only 8 bunny tails you can get from what I heard.
It's my own fault for taking a few days off. But who the fuck knew you could get pulled over for that. I guess I came upon an asshole cop.
Just a bit. After you turn in the pass at the checkpoint the demo ends.
Once you go through the Door of Departure you can't go back to previous areas.
It's near the end of the month man, cops be looking to fill in their quotas. The nicer the area the bigger assholes the cops are because they don't actually have anything real crimes to prevent, so they go fishing for any reason to pull people over.
After you fight a couple of Gryphons i believe. After that you'll need to use a Keystone on something that will render you unable to back track to that region
kek then you’re in luck
I didn't farm up bunny tails before going through the door, should I start over? How easy is it to farm them later?
Really easy because later you get a three-team Pep Power called Hallelujah that guarantees rare drops.
If you want. They're not necessary. You can always go back in the full version.
But if you do want them they're a bit tedious. Especially when trying to get your first one. But it gets a little easier after that one you equip it and equip another one. I recommend setting your character on auto battle and speeding up the battle animations. Then just grind while you watch a movie or something.
Took me a couple hours for the first tail then i got lucky after my 4th and got two back to back. Total time for me was around 6/7hrs of grinding
Cool I won't worry much about it then. Thanks!
Back to my DQ7 playthrough while I wait for the full release of 11.
>imagines VII in 4K
would be quite an experience desu fampai
Would be fucking great. I'm on the 3ds version so it's blocky but still charming.
>I beat the demo 3 times already
Why?
Now grind to the demo level cap and get 99 of every item you can farm.
Huh
Its turn based. And a great jrpg along side dragon quest.
Did they take off the demo on ps4?
What weapons should I spec into for the sisters? So far I'm doing greatswords on Hero and knives on Erik.
Don't do it user. Your time is better spent doing something else.
Wands for Serena. Staves for Veronica.
No, I've had on and off tendonitis and I'd rather save my thumb for Astral chain.
"Heavy Wands" for Veronica rather. (Forgot staves are called that. Dunno why they chose that name)
Fair enough. Spears look cool for Serena, but she's pretty clearly meant to be the healer archetype.
>Pirated the original version of the game
>Find out they're releasing a version with EXCCLUUUUSIVVEEEE COOOONNTEENT
>EXCLUUUUUUSIVEEEEE QUEEESSTTS
>EXCLUSIIIIVEEEEEE COSTUMES
I am SOOOO fucking glad I pirated this game. Imagine paying 60 dollars for an outdated inferior version of the game, where everything in the new version is only worth a DLC rate. Good fucking lord. I'd be pissed as fuck if I spent money for an inferior incomplete version of a goddamn game.
I mean unless you're playing with some Draconian Quest settings you should be able to go down whichever skill trees you want on Normal difficulty.
Gave it a shot. Didn't like it, but im not surprised at that since DQ is basically the anti-thesis of what i usually enjoy about JRPGs by design to start with.(Which is the weird gimmick systems that DQ avoids) and even with the speed up shit felt slow as fuck.
Not my piece of pie to put it simply. And the music was pretty garbage, if there was a good track in the game i sure as hell didn't hear it in the demo. No, it isn't my first DQ, i emulated the SNES ones and played them to completion ages ago.
I have strong enemies and no exp from weak enemies on, so I get chunked pretty hard.
I don't think there was a demo for PS4. I played the original game when it came out, but bounced off it about fifteen hours in- I think something else came out that distracted me.
Note that if you are planning on doing hard mode for the entire game (including the post game), there's gonna be a point where not going Sword and Board on Hero is basically suicide
I heard that Respec is really cheap so I'll swap at some point, but greatswords is rad so far.
Do you eventually level up enough to unlock the whole skill board?
Basically
Then the skill trees you've chosen for the Luminary and Erik are fine. Serena down Wands and Veronica down Heavy Wands is what you want on Draconian Quest(s).
Bumping the actual DQXI thread because the others are shitposting.
It's about to hit bump limit so they'll probably come here. It was nice chatting with you guys. I hope you enjoy the XI S demo and the full game when it releases.
I enjoyed my time with the PC version. Great look of it plus modding the symphonic soundtrack. I mostly just want to play the Switch version to play in SNES mode.
I'm enjoying the demo sucks they can't let us try 2D mode but I got no reason to complain I'm already sold on the game .
Yah it's a real shame I'm gonna have to replay the demo portion on full release just to try out 2D mode.
I just stopped when I got Erik in my party. Since Dragon Quest games while great takes a long time to really get started so feel just adventuring until that point in 3D was fine for me. But after that 2D away!
Protip for newcomers: Play with stronger monsters on. Preferably stronger monsters and no exp from low level monsters. My first time through the PC version I got about 40 hours into the game before I realized that not turning it on is essentially playing easy mode. It's super undertuned, like the equivalent of beginner in a kingdom hearts game. Completely restarted to turn it on and it made the game far more enjoyable. It doesn't make it grindy either (and with no exp on you couldn't really grind if you wanted) so you just need to get good
The exception is the final boss, which is a massive spike in difficulty. I got to him at level 50-52 and he was one shotting my party first turn. I'm pretty sure it's tuned for like high 60's-mid 70's, so I had to do a big chunk of grinding right at the end
