Coverage for Nintendo games is not the draw for places like IGN, they're propped up by coverage for western AAA games. If Rockstar pulls ads and says theyre blacklisting IGN, the site's not going to have any prerelease info or interviews, won't have their review on day one and will have less coverage in general, which leads to less traffic and less ad revenue.

There's no such thing as literal paid reviews, as in the author gets a brown sack with a giant dollar symbol printed on it, the above is how publishers flex and pressure the media to basically just be an extension of their PR. And again, Nintendo already distanced themselves from the gaming-related news media in general with their Directs due to unfavorable, and often false or misleading, clickbait bullshit. These outlets will literally go under if they're blackballed by enough western publishers whose games make up the bulk of their coverage and generate the bulk of their traffic on the site.

Played it for a few hours. Don't know how long it is. Can't say anything about story pacing but the non combat elements are definitely way too anime for me. Story is huge miss for me. It doesn't interest me at all and I feel as unmotivated to be interested in the story as the silent protagonist. Combat is very repetitive. Even tho it offers a lot of variety nothing really stands out and just feels like a mix of older platinum games. Is this a system seller? Fuck no. It's good but I would have prefered it on PC or Xbox. Seing it with such meta scores makes me think I am playing a different game than the critics.
