Anyone else think Pac-Man is under-appreciated?

It's a very simple mascot for a very simple game.

Pac-Man is a pleb, underage and casual filter. Of course people today don't know or like the series. Even the platformers, which are well-made don't get any love. I fucking love the series and I'm glad it's not full of faggots and shitters like the other big names.

His alts in smash were shit.
No ms. Pacman recognition at all in smash, could have easily been an Alph like alt for Pacman. Namcos only character despite making the game, recieved no extra or special treatment whatsoever.

Pac-Man’s representation in Smash sucked in general.
No games except 80s arcade games are represented, only 3 of the 13 songs are actually from the Pac-Man series, and in Smash 4, almost all of Pac’s trophies were lazy sprite rips.

Also DESU I think Ms. Pac-Man should’ve been an echo fighter. Too bad she ain’t even a fucking spirit.

Seconded. So many missed opportunities with this shit. But I don't wanna turn this into a Smash thread. Pac-Mania has to be my favorite maze game. The jump mechanic was fun but not too overpowered and the later levels make it obsolete.

Pac-Man was a perfect game. It got it right from the start. Nothing else was needed.

Because after Pac-Man Namco had 0 ideas what to do with him. They threw him in a platformer with Pac-Land which is a fucking weird ass arcade game, adventure game with Pac-Man 2 on SNES, even a kart racing game with Rally.

But nothing really worked well enough to be memorable. Pac-Man is well loved as just Pac-Man and that's fine since it really did change gaming for the most part. But sadly like with a lot of games of that era it hit it out of the park and left to rot after.

OG Pac-Man was great but I love the games that evolved the maze formula as well as the games that did something completely different.

Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures is the best game ever made

They didn’t have 0 ideas. They made multiple games that evolved the maze gameplay like Mania and Arrangement. Also considering Pac-Land is a side-scrolling platformer before Super Mario Bros. (and also inspired that game) shows that it was quite an innovative game.
I also find it odd that some people hate the idea of Pac-Man having spinoffs that go into different genres, but are perfectly fine with Mario and Sonic doing the same thing.

These are the relevancyfags that plague Smash. They don't play the actual games nor know what or how they were received and they won't bother to because of the guise that they're 'old' or 'irrelevant'. Short version, they come up with their own rhetoric regardless of whether it makes sense or not.

He’s almost always portrayed as a family man in the adventure games and a simplified sphere in maze games with no story (and even then artwork for said games usually portray him with that limbed design)
The only time he’s portrayed as a boy is in Ghostly Adventures, which was a complete reboot.

While the main villain is different in each game, ghosts are consistent rivals/enemies to Pac in every game.

Okay I’ll give you that one. In a lot of games he’s portrayed as mute and DESU that’s the portrayal I like best.

DESU Pac’s universe is more consistent than Sonic. At least Pac-Man could keep a consistent tone.

World 3 isn’t god-awful, but it’s pretty mediocre and honestly not worth remaking. I’d definitely take Maze Madness over World 3 to be remade alongside World 1 & 2.

If Namco still made the Pac-Man World games, you'd see it.
For the most part, Namco has rode on the original maze games since they were the most popular, so people mostly bring those up.

Digdug and Mappy are more cucked than PAC-MAN though.
