The whole Tyrande / Furion romance dialogue made me cringe, it feels like it was written by 12 year old. Instead, they could have more missions with Illidan to make his downfall more impactful, but whole NE campaign feels really cut down, like time was running out.

I tried doing the same thing but I got stuck on the final RoC mission with Archimonde and the world tree. I had a solid 30 units and over a dozen ancient protectors, and with only 3 minutes to go the game just spawned a bunch of internals and I got steamrolled, so I just skipped straight to the TFT campaign.

I wish there were more missions with Arthas or Maiev. It was so fun playing with them.
I also really liked Rexxar. His adventure was really comfy.

Anyone else have a problem with your hero’s items and levels not carrying over between missions in TFT? Didn’t have this problem with RoC

dow 2 was great, sure it was different from dow 1 but by no means a bad game

Sometimes my hero would lose their inventory for a whole mission, as in they couldn't pick up items and all the previous ones I picked up were gone

Picking sheep, getting zep and flying over to bases to reck them was memelevel

I liked AA and Hero Siege, but despite all its depth AA lacked some better teamfight mechanics.

The fuck? Brann was a trash character, and they ruined him completely with that Indiana Jones bullshit. Kel'thuzad went from a maniacal schemer and a manipulator second only to Ner'zhul to loot pinata with no interesting storylines or schemes to speak of. WoW lore is a travesty, it cannibalized and ruined the entirety of the RTS series lore.

As written in the RTS Malfurion judged his brother for putting the entire world at risk because he was selfishly unwilling to give up his own source of power. But none of that makes sense in the MMO because everything got retconned and using arcane magic is somehow no longer what draws demons into the world so the entire Night Elf storyline was essentially rendered pointless and stupid, and especially turning the Malfurion-Illidan divide into a clusterfuck that makes no sense.

Brann isn't that bad. The literal Indiana Jones, Harrison Jones, ruined an entire zone and is just shit. The only thing I would argue about Brann is having him represent the side we never seen of him, the fact he is a Prince of Ironforge.

That still is canon, it just is that at the point of the story... Demons kinda know where we are and are trying to find ways around and too our world with a large enough power source to bring their armies. Loose demons in the world was still a huge issue in WoW, but there were only a few demonic cults with no power or clue how to truely bring over their dark masters full might. Summoning them the way Warlocks will would drain the energies quite fast unless you had powerful artifacts and a gateway/ritual.

As well, It was Night Elf experience that Magic=Demons since the Highbourne were the magic users and has called the demons over. It's like watching someone eat brownies and then shitting themselves later, you assume the brownie had laxatives and never assume the guy has a scat exhibitionism fetish.

The reason why Nelves hate Illidan so much in wc3 is that he sided with the Legion during the War of the Ancient (that was retconned by WoW).
However Malfurion and Tyrande are still giant assholes toward Illidan, by betraying him eventhough he just destroyed the Legion during Wc3:RoC, and Maiev, by letting Illidan go in Wc3:TFT (at this point Illidan was full evil again).

Except that in the original RTS lore demons could not enter the world period without the use of arcane magic. Banning it made total sense and when Illidan kept it around he endangered the entire world, which is why his imprisonment was justified. But that all gets thrown out the window, like most of the RTS lore, since that would require them to actually write conflict points like the Night Elves being rabid magic hating savages who are fiercely territorial and bloodthirsty predators. Instead we get "muh hippie Elves" for the billionth fucking time. The first original Elven concept in perhaps decades and Blizzard completely destroys it with their mangling of the Night Elves in WoW, fucking disgusting.

Thats not Age of Empires 2. Or Dawn of War. Fuck off with your shit taste

It was over for the Night Elves as soon as they were part of the faction meme.
They were their own playable faction in Wc3 and they are the only one who lost their independence with WoW vanilla.
But the biggest spit, is that in WoW the Nelves still hate Blood Elves somehow while they love Humans.

Dawn Of War was a decent RTS that was carried by having a great single player campaign and superb presentation. Multiplayer wise it was absolute shit compared to the true RTS classics.

God how did Blizzard fuck up so much that they weren't able to take advantage of the amazing custom map scene they had? Fuck not just Dota. I don't know how they weren't able to tap into the rest of that crazy dedicated community.

They were obsessed over WoW. It made crazy amount of money, the majority of the good devs left, and the exec wanted to turn WoW into a giant world to experience new games like dota.
Back in the days they were too dumb to understand that moba for exemple was the futur and how it could make money.
SC2 terrible engine and mod tools, and their hate of mods didn't help.

Much like Valve with Steam, Blizzard kept crawling back to WoW.

Morhaime just had a recent interview about how one of the biggest mistakes Blizz made was letting Dota slip from their fingers. Which is absurd considering Icefrog himself approached them about it.

Humans are defensive, Orcs are offensive, Night Elves are almost all-ranged glass cannons, Undead are specialists that rely on spells and abilities.

Disagree about NE. They had beefy frontliners and glass cannons. The trick was to keep your frontliner up while your ranged focus fired shit down. I fucking loved bear dryad.

This retcon was by far the worst, though. A lot of the retcons were just chicken or the egg stuff or shit to do with largely background characters. This fucked up the main plot.

The whole situation is confusing

They hate blood elves because they decided that preserving their powers at all cost is paramount, even if they have to infect themselves with demonic energies. Why do you think blood elves have green eyes? Humans do not consider such a manner of pact defensible or acceptable, which is why no one that deals with fel to empower themselves is welcome in the Alliance.

I've seen fictional works where a person can lose their soul. They retain their memories but become essentially emotionless and guiltless. That's what happened here. It's an arthas shaped corpse being steered around with none of the feelings that made him arthas.

Ner'Zhul actually used Arthas to arrange the death of Tichondrius by having Arthas encounter Illidan and tell him about the Skull of Gul'Dan. The Scourge backstabbing the Legion was the best thing.

Most "intelligent" undead keep their memories and a piece of their former personalities. Kel'Thuzad and Sylvanas come to mind. The fact that Death Knight Arthas remembered his old friends and kept his hatred for Malganis doesn't make him any less undead.

Yet for some reason dealing with void to empower themselves is fine.

No, the official reason they banned High Elves is because of the use of Arcane. However in WoW they side with Humans who use magic as well.
Worst in TFT, Malfurion, Tyrande and Maiev have cordial relations with the Blood Elves and want to help them.

It's like a loose form of mind control. The manual for Warcraft 3 explains how it works IIRC. NerZhul was able to influence people.

THE ONLY REAL RTS

WoW kinda did have this problem. There were a few new or obscure characters introduced, but purely so they could have a plot-arc that ends not long after. Instead of using existing popular characters to establish new factions or game activities; the raid-treadmill needed to keep turning and all must burn in the furnaces that keep it going. So WoW was that snake that eats it's own tail: what does it do when it reaches the back of it's own head?

Would wow have been better if they never had factions and instead everyone is sort of a mercenary and governed by the reputation system? e.g. orc starts distrusted/hated by everyone except trolls and tauren but can grind rep to become hero of stormwind and go to war with thunder bluff.

I'd love for reforged to be just the old one with a modern look that holds true to the artstyle. But the more I read about map and story changes to be more akin to WoW and how they tried to move away from the cartoney to a more realistic style, the more hope I lose to get what I wanted.

Is Ner'zhul still there inside the helm? Did he and Arthas merge into one being or did Ner'zhul effectively die and get replaced by Arthas?

I get confused by this because Ner'zhul told Arthas to 'return the sword', then Arthas shatters the frozen throne and puts on the helm. Did Ner'zhul mean for Arthas to do this? If not, why did Ner'zhul not foresee it given he's able to percieve the future decades ahead of time with great accuracy?

I still remember playing my undead in WoW and getting to Lordaeron, finding the throne room and seeing the blood spill on the floor.

The original interpretation was that both Arthas and Ner'Zhul became a whole new being. WoW retconned that into Arthas winning the mental battle and replacing Ner'Zhul and ruling the scourge with an iron fist and there was even a questline about the last remnants of Arthas's humanity (Matthias Lehner) failing to pieces and being overcome by his corrupted new being, but then that was double-retconned into Arthas actually holding the scourge back as an anchor from doing much worse things to Azeroth. It was a fucking mess.

Terrania. Most people go hero classes to defend the base from waves, the rest go one of the aforementioned support classes to make defenses/weapons etc.
I'd be surprised if anyone that knew how to play was still around.
