Guild Wars 2

Best MMORPG on the market is 7 years old! YEAH BABY!

What class/race are you currently playing, Yea Forums?

>best mmorpg on the market
For another 15 hours

Used to play plant lady elementalist, but I forgot my password and their support ignores my tickets.

condition trap soulbeast in wvw

All the meta classes for fractals cause that's mostly all I play anymore

Absolutely disgusting

What's so good about Guild Wars 2?

Welp, here comes the GW1 babies crying about how much GW2 ruin the franchise.
They are fucking right

faggot

I'll never forgive this game for what it did.

Attached: 1566420648066m.jpg (954x1024, 122K)

Shit game

fpbp

Dropped this shit one year after launch, 100% map completion on 5 max level characters.
Terrible class balance, shit "living story", bum end game, 2fps splatter fest WvW and unironically des-stabilized by SJWs, even before the gooks hacked accounts to farm gold.

Damn shame, too, because I know the Guild Wars team understands how to make a game. CB was THE shit.

Bet they havent even let you poor shclubs into the Tengu area, yet.
I mained a fucking Salad and I still hate what the Sylvari did to the overall story.

Abandon all hope, ye who enter therein.

Attached: reeeeeeeeeeeee.gif (247x183, 2.21M)

I can't play this anymore. The WvW mount update was the final nail in the roamer coffin. The entire thing has been going downhill since the 2014 Rapid Fire buff and was pretty much dead after the specialization update and HoT, but I can't even force myself to log on now. It's a shame, I really enjoyed the game and wouldn't have quit had anet not destroyed it.

Had potential, but badly managed, neglected, and milked for their other projects that was canned + had more than a hundred being fired.

I just reinstalled the first guild wars and played after like 11 years. I'm having so much fun in pre-searing it's crazy. The game aged so beautifully. It's max comfy. Will play through phropecies and factions. GW2 can suck my dick, this game is better.

They even made some minor graphic updates like increased max draw distance. I wonder when will someone make a spiritual successor.

>literal tranny devs
>best anything

>GW1
>spend countless number of hours making and trying out builds
>both pve and pvp
>lots of fun with that
>GW2
>only 5 skills based on the weapons you have equipped
>everybody have the same 2 or 3 builds
>everything is the same
How did they fuck up that bad

...

GW2 did lots right for the franchise, but it did throw away lots of the mechanics that made GW1 more unique to play.

Devs managed to keep building upon the game instead of pressing the reset button and effectively deleting everything every couple of years like WoW does.

Though it did have it's share of that with some of the specs/LA/the entirety of the original Living Story

I'm not playing at all anymore because Anet takes forever to release new raids.

Didn't they just push one out a month or two ago? How was it?

Played Nord Necromancer from launch but I quit a little bit after the 2nd expac launched, writing is absolutely awful (kill a god hurr durr) and the cash shop is forced down your throat. Fuck that.

I already quit before that, but according to friends it was the easiest raid yet and cleared within an evening. The problem is that there is massive downtime inbetween raid releases. A 9-10 months wait for the next raid wing is simply unacceptable.

I got too deep I to degenerate ERP and every session was more degenerate than the last.rhen I realized the ERP community is full of pedos and I uninstalled.

kill yourself gw2 tranny you game is dead

>kill a god hurr durr
How is this a problem? They are just really powerful magic-infused humans.

>easiest raid yet
Like that is a bad thing. Not gonna claim that Anet isn't lazy as fuck, but it makes perfectly sense to not pour that much resources into game mode that is notorious for it's inaccessability for newcomers.

Hell, it's pretty inaccessible even to lot of experienced players as well, with all the elitist autism running rampant around it.

i've never done raids in MMORPGs
what's the appeal?
things like watching log horizon and reading pic related made me want to try get into it

Attached: Reincarnation-Of-The-Strongest-Sword-God-193x278.jpg (193x278, 13K)

It's not a true mmorpg.
Not that this would disqualify it from being the best mmorpg in today's market.

All mmos have been themeparks since WoW popularized the format.

>GW2 did lots right for the franchise
name a single one

The best part about that is that now we have an entire generation of gamers that have never played an mmorpg, but think they have.

I wish I could do raids but that specific part of the community is the most toxic cesspool of cancer of any multiplayer game ever.

>They are just really powerful magic-infused humans.

This kind of removes the mysticism of the gods in the first place. You had no idea what they looked like beyond statue depictions (thanks to one blind sculptor) and they only ever appeared in the world through their avatars. I don't like anything GW2 did with the human gods, except for that one charr which was getting power juice off a defaced Balthazar statue.

Nothing prevents you from starting your own groups with beginners. Progging through raids with a fresh group is the best way to learn the encounter and get into raids in general.

>one charr

Sorry, it was a grawl.

Sadly, GW2 is one of the most MMO MMORPGs around today, with actually playable open world content where other players are more than background.

Better, more interesting aesthetics for starters. GW1 looked generic and soulless as fuck.

what makes gw2 fags so delusional

What we need is more difficult 5-man content. Anyone trying to "hardcore raid" this game is a fucking idiot since the raids just don't work the same way without the gear treadmill. I check my friend list and see the same guy in the golem training zone for the 3rd year and wonder what the fuck he's doing with his life. The raids would be perfect right now without the killproof autism surrounding them in pugs. I 100% cleared the previous one in the first week just fine, but now I need to put up with the massive elitism shit and faking KP to get anywhere since I wasn't around for the release week of the current one.

Charr Warrior, of course. Everyone else who plays this game seem to be anime trannie fags

>GW1 looked generic and soulless as fuck.

What? GW1 wasn't the perfect game, but its artstyle wasn't one of its problems.

Attached: gw001.jpg (1920x1080, 281K)

Stopped playing due to no OCE servers.
Things like raids and 100CM, with 300 ping, were actually quite fun to master.
>have to dodge before attack animations even started, meaning the entire fights have to be muscle memory
But Dhuum's little floaty minigame was just dumb to play with high ping. Could I complete it anyway? Sure. But that Dhuum phase moved the ping issues from fun & challenging, to merely clunky.

based

Why do I never see Yea Forums talking about playing GW1? You always say you loved the game, but its servers are still up, and apparently it got QoL updates recently too.
Is it just the deadness?

I log on every year to collect my anniversary boxes for all my chars made back on launch. All my inventories and bank spaces are full. I can't take this anymore I have so many dyes and costumes its fucking overwhelming I'm just gonna uninstall this shit.

>Is it just the deadness?

Pretty much. Most of the PvP missions are empty and the magic of the game was teaming up with other people. It's still playable, but it just isn't the same when nearly every outpost has no one in it and you're just playing with benchmen or heroes.

>Best MMORPG on the market is 7 years old! YEAH BABY!

Had bought the game pre-order before launch... haven't touched the game after the launch.

>Shit history (MUH YOUR PATH AND HISTORY)
>Shit mechanics
>Shit implementation of classes
>They tried to remove trinity
>They get BFTO because of it and now trinity is back
>Now you need to buy a """""expansion"""" to get the new specializations if not you are fucked vs people who buy it
>Farming early instanced dungeons was shit that you needed to exploit/bug to farm them
>Crafting was tedious to level at 400
>WvW consist in a clock rotation where the country isn't sleeping is winning
>Plantjesus
>LOL DRAGONS
>Full season of filler arc protagonized by two lesbians

But aside of these shits the game does things good: Map, World Events and Exploration

Still own the base game, but never going to come back... I choose to play GW1 because is better in all aspects.

Does GW1 have an activeplayerbase still?

Yes and those who played GW2 and get sick of how they handled it returned to GW1

Don't expect playerbase like years ago and Christmas/Halloween event, but is stable.

based and charrpilled

There is nothing RPG about GW2.
It's mediocre in everything it does, if not awful.
It's 'community' is a bunch of literal reddit trannies and braindead fursuits pretending to be fighters with 'toxicity'
It's devs and 'narrative designers' are tubmlerinas and cucks that can't do shit for shit
And sadly, MO alone can't save this trainwreck from a downward sprial
The game is dead

Attached: 1391020881955.jpg (265x307, 57K)

>>They tried to remove trinity
Did they not succeed?
I've now quit GW2, but the trinityless raiding is what made raids far superior over WoW / FFXIV's raids, to me. I had a blast in GW2 where the other MMOs couldn't compare.

>There is nothing RPG about GW2
what

> trinityless raiding is what made raids far superior over WoW / FFXIV's raids, to me.

So you never tried the raids in GW2, okay

Name one thing this game didn't dumb down and make it an afterthought

no mmorpg really delivers that rpg feeling, so why not just play gw2 which is actually a very beautiful and fun to explore theme park.
and it's actually fun to roam around the map and do events or kill champions with other random players roaming around.

Problem with trinity, and why it basically came back, is because people CRAVE it as it gives them purpose.

>Still have the originals in box pristine condition

Maybe is time to return to a true mmo

Attached: 1539856253056.png (2548x1005, 3.25M)

264LI, was full clearing roughly every week (from 3 weeks after I joined, until sometime around W5.)
So uh, sure, never raided

>Plantjesus

They killed him off, thankfully. They realized quickly he was not very loved

>Full season of filler arc protagonized by two lesbians

To be fair, the two characters are quite good... when kept separate. Which is what they have done since, and both became much more bearable and downright cool

i don't quite get how that question relates to being an RPG or not, could you rephrase?

It's not like you can't. Just remember to switch to NA region for group play because that's where everyone hangs out at.

i hated gw1. the fact that you had your own instance for every map and you never saw other players. i played silkroad online before and was used to having no instances at all and only 3 open-world map parts connected with ferries (no portals everywhere). and i was used to having over 100 level instead of just 20.

>Check the /gw2g/ thread on /vg/ since it apparently got rid of the spambot
>It's 99% furfags
Imagine playing this pile of camel shit in 2019

>They get BFTO because of it and now trinity is back
Hardly anything has tanks though. Even in raids maybe 30% of the fights there's a dedicated tank and only a few of them he needs to be actually tanky instead of a glorified dps tasked with positioning the boss.

STILL runs at butter smooth -50 fps in populated places

We still have to suffer mary sue Taimi

spoken like a true wow fag who ignores the fact that wow has literally a fury race

Not sure what you expected from the /vg/ community

I was truly hyped when it released. I preordered it, and created a guild with fellow users of a technology forum; I even got a new video card for the sole purpose of playing Guild Wars 2. And I played it, had some fun (I had lots of fun with world puzzles), but I never *really* got into it.
The world didn't appeal to me, I never felt in danger without leveling, and running around completing a ToDo list of heart quests quickly lost its novelty. There were some events where cooperating with other people was *needed*, but communication *was not*, so chatting was done mostly with other people in the world chat.
There were some other issues related to how little impact there was (or it felt, at the very least) from combining skill effects (e.g. raising a wall of fire and then shooting though it), and how in dungeons you didn't feel there was a role you had to act. Arenanet had a basically noble idea about replacing the "MMO trinity", but they forgot to replace it with something else. As a disclaimer though, I never got too much into dungeons, so I may be wrong. I was already burned out at that point.

>What class/race are you currently playing, Yea Forums?
Not currently playing, but I did play a Charr Engineer who I got into max level.

>Best MMORPG on the market is 7 years old! YEAH BABY!
What notable changes have happened since the release year?

I choose one hundred times instanced than meme open world.

I mained Cleric a lot but they weren't tanks nor healers nor dps... shit in middle of nothing.

Hope they are in better position now, but who cares because don't play anymore.

Best mounts ive ever seen in an MMO. Id say better than 90% of most normal games with mounts in general. Shame they don't know how to hold on to an audience by making actual progression reward revolved around certain mount skins and instead chuck them all on the store.

I really liked the idea of replacing healing with more general support, so you're not limited to babysitting health bars, but practice showed most players were simply too wired to the old healer archetype.

Those faggots deserved every minute of that bot, especially since they ruined another general by making the bot follow them

>Cleric
The what? Guardian?
I think they're buffers/dps these days. Healers in WvW.

Yeah, she was quite annoying in the first expansion, but her record in the second one is basically a long string of failures and her sickness will probably kill her soon.

While GW2 made quite a few errors, i like that they always try to correct it and usually does it well

Yeah that, forgot how they are called in GW2

Name one system in this game that qualifies it as an RPG

Every single thing that made it an RPG is made irrelevant. GW2 has more in common with looter shooters than MMORPGs. It has RPG features, but they are irrelevant to the bigger picture, they make an illusion of an RPG.

Add to that that you aren't ever required to play with other players. Living story this, living story that.

Usually my healbot tempest because the average party is too retarded to not die, but my most fun character is my DoT dps/tank mirage, really great for pvp

why are the chinks so cringe?

in silkroad online you could pick a job between traders, thiefs and hunters (protects traders) and then you bought goods at one city and wandered to the next cities to sell the goods for profit to npcs. it really felt open world and you actually had tons of interaction with other players. you even remembered names. and you had unique monsters who spawned only a few times a day and when you killed them everybody on the server got a notification that you killed the unique monster.
it was the real raw experience. you even could kill other players everywhere (no need for "enable pvp") but you got a outlaw state for killing others (others can kill you without penalty and you could drop your gear on dying) so it was balanced.
my first reaction to gw1 was that it didn't feel like an mmorpg but more like a co-op game

Back to the shadowlands known as south america with you

They were pretty much mandatory in fractals back in Vanilla thanks to having a dozen reflects and very desirable for most other dungeons thanks to their defensive buffs/heals/tankiness.
Only pure damage groups for the easiest dungeons wouldn't take them thanks to nothing posing a threat that could kill anyone.

I'm EU retard... hope you die shitting blood in your sleep

how many of you guys watched the elitist raiding party yesterday?

Attached: eff.png (1207x70, 13K)

big agree. got worlds second on w7 cms and lost all my friends in between raid content drought.

post them boiz

Attached: eff2.png (475x280, 58K)

not the pvp thats for sure
imagine in classic wow the rogue stayed in stealth when hit by anything
imagine her could use vanish repeatedly
imagine he could cure any debuff and regenerate in stealth
thats GW2

What do I not get if I get Path of Fire without getting Heart of Thorns?

>99% furfags
Try 20 percent. Like, 2 out of 10 total posters.

I've always seen GW1 as a co-op RPG rather than a 'true' MMO. It's a shame the game never really had a real successor.

did you even play gw2? it's a great game

Is anything even happening with this game now that NCSOFT decided to fuck Anet (rightfully so)?

I did. Put over 6.5k hours in it, but I haven't touched the game in months. Spent most hours in WvW.
I think GW2 is a good as far as MMOs go, but it never did its predecessor justice. The facts that PvP was garbage and class balance irreversibly went into the shitter after HoT didn't help either. Not saying GW1 balance wasn't retarded either, but at least the skill system made it way more fun and interesting.

>no idea what they looked like
>who is abaddon
>who is dhuum
>who is Kormir
The statues were visually correct, except dwayna as she's too beautiful to sculpt perfectly.

this basically
gw2 is braindead

What modern MMOs are you happier with than you are with GW2?
Not looking to shit on your opinion. (Though sure, someone else might.)

>spend countless number of hours making and trying out builds
people still doing that, maybe thats the reason why the cunts at anet up the price on mercenaries

>gw1 servers still up
As someone who never played it, I guess I should give it a shot now rather than never. Feels like putting it off will just result in the servers shutting down, and me regretting it later.

That's from Spain you fucking retard americuck

I feel like if they made it for console itd go over better. It plays better with a controller too actually.

Tying the first 5 skills to your weapon with weapon switching is a good mechanic though.

>the two characters are quite good
kill yourself

None really, like I said, I do think GW2 is good for a game in its genre. Although I do play Old School RuneScape, but I don't think it really counts as I consider it more as something you run in the background while browsing or watching shows.
I probably don't like traditional MMOs anyway. To me, GW1 was the ultimate 'MMO for people who don't like MMOs'; it had minimal mandatory grind, a very fun and deep skill system and amazing PvP that was ahead of its time. I wish there was a modern game that could scratch the game itch.

>Plantjesus
Which was worse, him or dragonjesus?

Dragonjesus because she got to become a super elder dragon

Sell me on this game, PVE? PVP? PLAYER INTERACTION? I like grinding and feel like my character gets stronger the more I put effort but with a purpose, like grinding to finally beat that boss or dungeon, I like difficulty rewarded by skill, does this game have this?

it's a mobile game for about the last two years. ncsoft took over. it's so bad they timegate the timegates.

I'm still surprised they didn't abandon raids completely yet.

just post your damn char(r)s

Don't you have your general back? Stop shitting up Yea Forums with this godawful mess of a game.

So fucking wrong and bad mechanic.

>still no Cantha

Still to this day the ONLY MMO with enjoyable combat, movement, and setting. Also comfiest zones to explore.

I have no idea how anyone can enjoy other MMO combat aside from this game.

Kill yourself.

Attached: gw2meetup.jpg (955x215, 58K)

never ever because muh cultural sensibilities

meanwhile in FF14:
HERE IS JAPAN

I haven't played the game in a long time but I played a Sylvari thief.

I didn't enjoy the gameplay very much so I never kept with it but I love plant based races and gunman classes so I was really happy the game had both. I even gave it a second shot once that one expansion came out that gave thief the sniper subclass, but I really couldn't stick with it.

GW2 became more "normalized" at the cost of what made GW1 good, cutting customization way the fuck down and streamlining combat to be immensely boring.
I find FFXIV way more exciting and interesting compared to GW2s stale combat/skills and exploration. GW2 does some stuff right but good Lord everything else is just a shit pile.

I played a chill plant guardian
Guardian was the only class I was really into, very much liked going sword+torch, but it was bad so I was always a liability in group content

i have no clue. At release, GW2 was so fucking aweful. I barely got through the story and dumped it. Came back around HoT and it did get a bit better. Its still nowhere near as fun as GW1, both pve and pvp.
I remember GW1 pvp trying to Dshot skills with a 1/4 cast time. Good times

Stormblood was essentially everything Asian molded into one expansion and they released that in China.
So I find that all situation quite hilarious, they probably avoiding Cantha because they would never meet player expectations.

-Different playable races
-Reasons to explore the different parts of the map for reasons other than just cartography titles
-World bosses as a result of the game not being continually instanced

That's about where it stops though

Cantha will literally never come back. IIRC the newest emperor clapped both the Kurzick and Luxon factions. There's literally no reason to go to Cantha now- factions were the main point of that expac, considering it was the fucking name of it.

Only real reason to play GW2 is to be a midget with a flamethrower running around burning furries and hippies and zombies. That's pretty much the sum total of it's entertainment value to me.
Still miffed they couldn't even be assed to give different races different variations on Engineer toys.

Wrong
WoW gonna beat it again
BITCH

nothing
its just like modern wow
a bunch of colors and explosions on the screen and no one knows what is happening half the time through the spamfest

Cantha will literally never come back because it blended Chinese, Korean and Japanese traditions and themes and you can't "get away" with celebrating various cultures in current year.

It's just American cultural imperialism that makes them think they would offend their non-existent asian customers. By reading a bit on historical Japan-China relations you can conclude that they hate each other, yes. But you also cannot deny that Japan and Korea borrowed a lot from Chinese culture. It wouldn't be that wrong to portray Cantha as a world of intermixed Asian cultures.

only thing good about this game are the FHDs. post cute FHDs!

Sylvari male rev but I stopped playing after the Skyscale came out, that series of collections is the antithesis of fun and I refuse to complete it or run around without max mastery points.

Ritualist when ;_;

Play GW1 for that.

You not gonna see anything new in GW2, mostly because NCuck and GW2 is reaching to his closing time.

Closest you'll get is Revenant in slutwear.
