If I had to narrow it down I'd say that Metal Gear is about how media shapes our perception of history and geopolitics. They're these games that kinda address real politics and real history but they present a deliberately artificial view on them that's inspired by action movies and spy novels and comic books so it turns into a not only fictionalised but very absurd take on real history. And I think in a way that's commentary on how we view history and wars and politics, not in terms of actual events but in terms of grand narratives. And how media sort of plays into that, twisting real events until these stories eventually overtake the events that inspired them.

That's one thing, at least. The later games also address the military industrial complex aot, MGS 4 had it as a main theme and MGS V touched on it with its subplot about private mercenary groups in Africa

I don't get how they messed up the KH story so much. KH1's was perfect. A simple story about a kid going through some Disney Lands. Why couldn't they keep that up

With Kingdom Hearts structure, Nomura can end the series on a whim. It really doesn't need worthwhile arcs. The story arcs are just excuses to shill Disney's slop.

Making the story of Kingdom Hearts more complex works if you have a plan in place but Nomura is obviously just making it up. And worse? Nomura had a chance to canonically in-unvierse reboot the whole franchise but he allowed Xehanort to lose so that the trainwreck lore and bad continuity and retcons are maintained.

Idiot....what an idiot. I swear if Nomura had an editor things would be better. He needs someone to say NO to him whenever he gets bad ideas(which would be often). Even George Lucas didn't create Star Wars alone, he had skilled help which made his property so very popular. And even Hideo Kojima had assistance in the story area of Metal Gear until the later games where only Kojima was in charge of the direction of the story.

KH3 was in a special situation where it was the final game of the Dark Seeker Saga. It was extremely hyped. The first time a videogame reaches the grand finale of a story arc it no doubt will sell great, just look at God of War 3. But how hyped are people going to be when the time comes for the next story arc's finale? I don't think the hype will be as large as during KH3.

Especially because KH3 didn't satisfy, just a chunk of blatant cliffhangers and subplots that went nowhere complete with hackjob of bringing back characters like Roxas and having an in your face cliffhanger bad ending. Even God of War 3 ended well with Kratos seemingly admitting he deserved death for all his horrible deeds and seemingly choosing to drift into the sea after stabbing himself. It's a good place to stop if you prefer. But making a sequel in that franchise is still possible because the character in question is flexible AND his characterization and general story has not been made bad.
