Pyre is too good for this world.

the only sports game worse than pyre is dino dini's kickoff revival

Nigger Pyre isnt even their best game, Transistor is where its at

Attached: image.jpg (240x240, 24K)

Boring shit desu

It's just too bad they can't draw motorcycles

Attached: ss_0877306bb90bc4a1755223642b21484fa6fcce4e[1].jpg (1920x1080, 746K)

For me? Its Bastion = Transistor > Hades > Pyre

Its a magic computer cyberpunk motorcycle they aint gotta explain shit

pyre had good music and nice characters and absolutely abysmal everything else

>Hades
epic trash

You're right, they don't, but it sure helps if they do.

Transistor has a god tier soundtrack, I still haven't found anything with the same feel/sound.

i still don't know what possessed them to do an unvoiced visual novel after 2 fully voiced action games
Complete opposite ends of the spectrum. I'm sure by visual novel standards pyre is great, but it can also fuck right off.

Is it really worth playing? I was pretty excited for it, but when I saw it demoed as some ball game at a convention I attended, I lost interest.

The store is actually pretty cool and the decision of who to send home can be damn tough. You get torn between wanting to keep someone with you because they're really good and you like their moveset and wanting to send them home because they deserve freedom

it's worth treating as a visual novel with a shit game, like planescape torment

story*

>some indie shitfags
>stupid fucking visual novel approach
>retarded basketball minigame
>repetitive "now it's time to look at the stars lmao"
>game drops the story bar after the first 2 liberation rites
>le funny quirky characters
>stupid fucking "we must resist"
>actually "them" as a gender option
>the most soulful example of the family-like friendship bonding
>bioware does not even come close to this shit, not even during their prime
>drown in the feels by the end
I want to hate on this game, because on paper this is pretty fucking nothing, but fuck me if it's not on the greats.
Game doesn't even imply that you like someone or don't like someone, you can be bonded with 3 characters out of the cast and it's still makes sense.
Does anyone have a full credits picture of them looking up? That shit is fantastic

only the meme version

Pyre unironically almost made me cry at the end. Pure kino.

Hades looks neat but it feels like Supergiant is desperate for money, what with the Epic deal and making a roguelike rather than something unique again. A roguelike based on real world mythology no less, despite the mythology of their games being one of the best parts.

>pyre
>soul
the further they went down, the shittier their games became
i replayed bastion a couple of times after completing it, transistor was a one time thing and pyre was unbearably boring so i didnt even complete it

Attached: 1562741568100.png (540x389, 304K)

>he likes gameplay
lmoa
yeah bastion is the most solid as a game but transistor and pyre trounce it in thematics and ambition

story didn't get better either, i can play a shitty game for a gripping story, which wasn't the case for pyre

bro... it literally has the best story of their games... the integration of story into gameplay and gameplay into story is top notch and all of the themes are interwoven beautifully

>literally has the best story of their games
but you are entitled to your own opinion just as much as i am to mine

Attached: file.png (425x194, 44K)

Transistor's overall narrative is better but Pyre makes far better use of the medium, ye bitch.

Might be a generic answer but here goes

Attached: file.png (370x269, 215K)

Transistor's story falls flat on its face because of the feelbad ending. I feel like a bittersweet ending like Bastion's, where no matter the outcome, the future is set in stone, but isn't hopeless, is the best. I never finished Pyre because actually playing the game was just awful but yeah.

>actually playing the game was just awful
literally just set it to easy and slamjam the matches in 30 seconds, it's not that complicated dude

Transistor was way prettier too. Cloudbank was a sexy, sexy town.

Well I doubt Pyre sold much considering how unique of a game it is.
After all the makreting for Hades is mostly calling Supergiant the creators of bastion & Transistor, Pyre didnt get as much attention as those two I assume.

Anyways speaking as somehone who's got a 100+ runs on Hades from the week it released. It's their best game.
But I am 100% biased because I've loved Greek mythology since I was old enough to read. The actual gameplay however is their best yet. It's like a smoother version of Bastion's gameplay with the wide variety of Transistor's functions.

The characters are also brimming with personality. Both with striking visual designs for all the gods and wonderful voice acting that for once doesnt rely upon Logan Cunningham being a narrator as often.
I think what really helps is that Greek Mythological figures dont have a concrete personality to begin with and Supergiant really made them their own. They even have some fun with this. For example, in actual greek myth, the name of the main character Zagreus is used sometimes to refer to Hades son as he is in-game other times it is used as another name for Dionysus the god of wine. It's quite a difference as expected of a mythology that had no canon or wide acceptance of a singular record
In-game they play with this by having Dionysus and Zagreus make a plan to trick the musician Orpheus into thinking they are the same person as part of a story event. A wonderful way to reconcile these two different accounts of real world mythology and the own personality they have of Zagreus as a rebellious, determined trickster son of Hades.

It's still not worth the Epic Store though. Dont ever download that shit.

FFX

epic shill

Hades is so fucking cool. I really hope that their steam release gives this game some attention, it's unironically their best game, I love all the interactions with the gods and the setting is so unique and inspired.

You all now remember that Deadly premonition exist.

good job spoilering the game retard

>feelbad ending.
It was bittersweet. As much as Bastion's. The world is gone but a bright, happy future with loved ones still awaits the protagonist. They accept their loss, they know they cant bring things back and move on.
Pyre has the happiest ending of all games even if you fuck up every rite.

Nigger like I give a fuck. It was released 2 years ago. If a faggot hasnt played it yet its their own fault

>says explicitly to not download epic
>called a shill
Did you just not read their post user?

HEDWYN WAS THERE, AND PROVED TO ALL THAT HE WAS NO DESERTER

SHE HAS FOUND HER WAY HOME

Attached: smiling jody.png (828x1443, 788K)

>game features best girl
>you can't romance her
First Red is married and now this

sandra is the best girl and you can romance her

Everyone knows Sandra is the real best girl anyways.

Attached: blinded laughing assassin lady.png (541x960, 369K)

yeah i read the shilling, and also read the 1% at the bottom that said "also im totally not a shill guys XD"

At least you got a cute, semi insane daughterfu to spend your life with
You did keep her with you in Downside didnt you?

There is nothing hopeful about the Transistor's ending. Everyone's dead, the end, the country might just be a metaphor for peace in death for all we know. In Bastion's ending the world is fucked but some people are alive, and Zult is optimistic about finding more people, and there's even a budding romance between the protag and the girl, whose life was sad and without purpose in the old world. People are alive, the world still exists, just in a broken state.

I mean obviously. Her, Ti'zo, and Pamitha are all obviously happier there anyway. The choices were obvious.

Same, but then I played it and it was amazing, even the gameplay. But it's mostly a visual novel with a great story, cut by little ball minigames.

the only thing he shilled was the game you illiterate faggot

>Everyone's dead, the end
>he doesn't know

Take a look at where the final boss fight takes place and tell me "the country" is definitively death and not a euphemism for something else entirely. There's significant reason to believe there are several layered worlds, not just Cloudbank and then the real world.

Here you go famalam

Attached: 20181215125044_1.jpg (1920x1080, 154K)

>Fae
>Dog
>Imp
Best team.

Switch port when?

I always assumed that "the country" is just some matrix like world where your consciousness is uploaded into when you're consumed by the transistor. So in a sense it's not really Red and her Boyfriend in the final montage, but their copied essence living there.

bastion and transistor are interesting, but pyre's le resistance is tedious
a game's writing isn't bad just because it makes you feel bad

If I was shilling for Epic why would my post be entirely positive except for Epic?
Call me a Supergiant Shill or a Steam shill if you wish to be accurate. For those are what I would exalt. I like the game; I dont like Epic.

I find Pamitha happier when free. Able to fly again and also I cant separate her from Rukey. Bertrude though. Bertrude is completely fine in the downside

They all live on in the Transistor. Not just Red and her lover. Everyone. All those traces. Cloudbank is gone but its people may live on.
The two games are very similar in dealing with ending, loss and disaster. For Red that meant not being separated from what she loves. But its undeniable that they or at least their consciousnesses are still alive in another world of sorts.

Also Red was possibly going to commit suicide in Cloudbank if nothing happened. Look at all her lyrics
>Too late for me, no reason to recover
>If I should choose to rise
>I'm still descending, never ending
>I fall, I fall
>Too late for me, no reason to recover
>If I should choose to rise
>I'm still descending, never ending
>I fall, I fall

>You tell yourself that you're lucky
>Lying down never struck me
>As something fun, oh, any fun
>Stabbing pain for the feeling
>Now your wound's never healing
She was never in love with the city.

Attached: 20190129065429_1.jpg (1920x1080, 310K)

Honestly I don’t think there’s any way to discern 100% fact about Transistor other than to hold supergiant at gunpoint. Which I enjoy, but it makes talking about it hard.

>separating Pamitha from her sister, who she gave up everything to be with again
>separating Bertrude from her tree husbando
Filth

When I say the writing is bad, I mean that more in the sense of me wanting to replay it. A dour nihilistic ending like that kind of ruins the point of playing the game to begin with to me.

God fucking damn I love that last boss fight. Really gave me MGS2 vibes
youtube.com/watch?v=Ntu_6ROG8EM

I've played through Pyre 3 times. In none of my endings Tam forgives Pam. Tam is a very spiteful and vindictive, downright bitch.
My second playthrough was on True Nightwings mode and I lost the liberation rite to Tamitha.
She guarantees Volfred's peaceful plan doesnt work as he intended and leads a bloody assault on the commonwealth where she herself is wounded and unable to fly, so she spends the rest of her days in the mountains away from the world. She never contributes anything that isnt hatred.
Also Pamitha has massive breasts.

Attached: 20181203004559_1.jpg (1920x1080, 321K)

user... remember at the very start of the game when Red’s husband speaks an ominous line?
On NG+, which is called a second loop or some shit, Royce speaks it instead. That wasn’t the “ending.”

I don't actually, what does she say?

>Who gets to go first?
>How about...me?
youtu.be/Vrc5lv0O8yo

Attached: royce.jpg (210x240, 15K)

Play enough games against her and she at least comes to tolerate Pamitha again, which she seems satisfied with. They’re not exactly friends but they’re not enemies anymore, which I’d say is enough.

The game starts with her husband saying
>Hey Red... We're not getting away with this, are we?
Royce says it instead in NG+, which I bothered to look up this time, and it’s literally called a “recursion”

a recursion implies that the same thing that happened in cloudbank is happening in the transistor this time, which is an insane thing to think about. an infinite loop of transistors inside transistors with history repeating itself.
the same thing happens with bastion btw, if you start the game in NG+, zult says something like "haven't I been here before?"
but of course that makes sense in terms of narrative as well.

What’s wrong with it besides the wheels not having spokes?

It’s probably just magnetic sci fi magic, they ain’t gotta explain shit

It looks fine

DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING

Attached: bell.png (206x242, 92K)

Ah I see.
I try and spread even the number of games against each Triumvirate. I suppose thats been locking me out of some story.
Pyre reminds me of a CYOA book there's so many ways to experience its story. So many variables and so many details.
I only just noticed today that should Oralech win the final rite. The Plan tooltip, the tooltip the player has likely clicked on the most, changes and reveals the origin of its quote and Oralechs own desires.

It only shows up once like this. Even the earlier mention in the same sentence shows the same tooltip as before. So hard to notice. But it still changes as Oralech offers his own freedom for yours. A lovely attention to detail.

Attached: 20190825233834_1.jpg (1198x1210, 319K)

the structure of pyre's narrative is simpler than typical cyoa books. you are limited to who ends up leaving and what the details of the insurrection is

Pyre was really pretty but Bastion and Transistor had way more SOUL.

I haven't played it yet, but I'm kinda disappointed they've decided to go for a roguelike approach for Hades. I'll take a short and well crafted game over some game that's designed to be replayed over and over any day.

Attached: 1566552451325.jpg (476x350, 13K)

The biggest problem of Hades so far is a really low weapon count. It's far smaller than Bastion.

He did nothing wrong

Attached: 1535657190853.jpg (1200x800, 170K)

>get past Cerberus, bright white screen appears and think its over until launch adds the end
>gee that was an underwhelming last zone not even any boss fights or
>Zagreus walks out into a snowy ruined temple entrance
>Hades slowly pans into view. Bright red cloak against the snow.
Kino.
youtube.com/watch?v=cVukkhUI-xM
And then after beating him down he gets back up and the song becomes even more metal as he starts wailing at you like a madgod

I really hope that in the ending you can willingly come back to him and reconcile with him.
He seems like the only decent god out of the bunch of drama queens.

He really is and they drop tons of hints on their actual pettiness. Zagreus isnt in it for them anyways.
What I'm curious about is why its snowing. That's suppose to mean Persephone isnt with Demeter. So where is she? I bet eventually the locked doors in the House of Hades will be opened up.

I can't even get past minotaur, holy shit.

I've meant this one, my dudes, sorry for the confusion

Attached: 1554919460717.jpg (1200x675, 74K)

I'm pretty hyped for Hades so I refrained from watching anything of it.
Structuraly is it a roguelike in the vein ofRogue Legacy ?

Not really, there's no randomization of your character like in rogue legacy

that's the entire hook of the story even outlined in the steam description retard

Attached: EBLrJRxXYAEKrId.jpg (680x388, 17K)

wait im retarded, what did it mean when royce said it instead? Does it mean every time red goes through the whole debacle, she’s living a new life where her husband switches between the voice and royce?

Based.

A recursion is a computer science thing where a computer goes into a loop to solve a problem. Royce saying it just means that he, and probably the other souls in the transistor, KNOW that they're in a recursion. Mr Nobody was, is and always will bang Red.

Honestly, this and Gold are still the absolute best stealth games ever to bless us mortals to this day and nothing you say will change my mind.

Attached: SAVE_20190319_132409.png (252x306, 104K)

>noooooooo reading nooooooooo

Nobody played Pyre. It was decent, but not on the level of Transistor and didn't have the charm of Bastion.

games not even out yet, it's still in development, it will release on steam when it's actually complete so it was a win win for them to get epics money

>You should totally play it for the story
>Also these are the story's key moments
>Fuck you it's your fault you got spoiled
Do you have dissociative identity disorder?

If I wanted to read a book I'd go read a book. Instead I'm looking to play video games

Bastion was decent all around.
Transistor had interesting/better setting but worse story with some great moments here and there (like 2 of the villains die before you even face or confront them, but the fight with the lady & ending fight was cool). I enjoyed Transistor's gameplay slightly more than Bastion.
I'll try Pyre at some point but I dig Pyre's music. Not familiar with Hades at all.

Easily their worst game. Bastion was by far the best. Pyre was average.
