So I put it down. Time passed and I returned to the game, determined and oh my god im so happy i faced my fears because RE became my all time favourite game after that. I beat it as both Chris and Jill. The atmosphere, the tension, the world building. Resident Evil 1 is the perfect blend of camp horror. God i love this game so much bros :) Just wanted to share my love for the game

The gameplay worked fine for me. Felt like RE7 just third person, which for me is a pretty close homeage to the tank controls of old.

I was just hoping we get to see more of the city around the RPD. The intro credits also showed a Raccoon City different than the "decently big Colorado mountain town" we know. Place is a bloody Metropolis now apparantly, just a shame we don't get to see any of it.

It's one of the more bizarre games I've played. It has a lot going for it in terms of art direction and stylistic choices. In a way, it takes the cheesy, almost surreal atmosphere of the first RE and the more mysterious and dreadful atmosphere of the 2nd while adding its own strange twist with the amusing plot. It's my favorite Resident Evil game for that reason.

Horror is a genre that I can easily become fully immersed in. Using game logic tends to take away from the experience and the atmosphere that the game provides, so I like to get myself worked up if possible. I'm really enjoying the game right now and I'm looking forward to working my way through the RES 1 remake.

I am playing it right now for the first time. I am around the half way point, and I would say it's a good game so far. Two of the voice actors are annoying, and there is far more backtracking than any of the original RE games. That being said, I would recommend it. It is harder than all of the other games, so be aware.

You can pick up the PS2 version for a few dollars. ADVOID the "remasters" for the PS3/Xbox360. It seriously looks like someone smeared grease all over the screen.

It's phenomenal. It's a great blend of the things that made RE1 and RE2 great and it has lots of nice themes like the sibling rivalry between the Redfields and the Ashfords, Chris vs. Wesker, and the corny love plot between Steve and Claire. The OST is really good as well.

That started with 3 which went way over the top with its full apocalypse fucked up mutant city being nuked instead of the quiet re2 small town.

On my opinion if 3 was never made, we would have get CV with a more down to earth premise following 2 footsteps and improving it.
Then 4 would be better and so on, but it was definitely 3 and its cartoonish nuclear bomb premise what triggered all that anime shit.

Think about it, they made the government nuked a city. If that can happen in this universe, then anything later falls shorthand. That's why they had to go with the BSAA global biowar. One of the next games will probably be in space.

Why the fuck they thought a rail shooter is better than being free to move your character? That shit has pretty good remade scenarios but its a torture to play.

As much as I love RE3, a part of me wishes Raccoon City never got destroyed.

It doesn't really matter in the subject. Chris was Wesker's best man, his hate boner for Chris is more like a rivalry thing rather than just pure hate. Wesker would have him killed if he really wanted to, but he didn't because otherwise there wouldn't be anyone left to oppose his god self.

But I still feel despite all the blockades and cars on fire blowing up, they could have gotten away with making it look like a minor incident not even infecting the whole city.

You can see it in Leon's after credits screen.
Before 3, the outbreak itself was gonna be solved by police survivors like in the old school night of the living dead movies. Not only way more realistic but way more pleasant to the viewer. An atomic bomb really felt out of place in the resident evil games, which is a main reason why it went with a more action approach.
